  16. has announced the immediate availability of a single-server version
  17. of the Osrm2 LAN System - Osrm2 LAN Lite.  The Osrm2 System (Operating
  18. System Resource Monitor for OS/2) provides resource monitoring,
  19. performance analysis and capacity planning capabilities for servers or
  20. workstations running under the OS/2 operating system.

  22.     "If an organization is deploying critical business applications on
  23. the OS/2 platform, it is essential that they have some way to measure
  24. and monitor the performance of these systems", says Frank Castellucci,
  25. president of C.O.L.  "By providing them with detailed information and
  26. analysis on both Systems and Applications performance and resource
  27. usage, the Osrm2 System gives organizations the information they need
  28. to effectively gauge and optimize the performance of their OS/2
  29. environments."

  31.     Osrm2 LAN Lite version 1.3 is functionally identical to the larger,
  32. multi-node Osrm2 LAN System, providing the same performance analysis
  33. capabilities for the many single-server LAN environments in use today.
  34. It uses the Presentation Manager graphical interface of OS/2 to
  35. display real-time and summary information and analysis of both systems
  36. and applications performance and resource usage.  In addition, it
  37. stores and manages sampled resource statistics which are used for
  38. long-term performance analysis and capacity planning.

  40.     System resources monitored by the Osrm2 LAN System include:
  41.  
  42. * CPU Usage - CPU utilization, CPU Dispatches
  43.  
  44. * Real Memory Status - Total, Free, Used, Fixed, Working set,
  45.                        Non-working set
  46.  
  47. * Disk Activity - Number of reads, writes, writes w/verify, bytes,
  48.                   sectors, response time, percent busy
  49.                   (Monitors both Physical and Logical Disks)
  50.  
  51. * Swap Activity - Number of swaps, total bytes swapped, response time
  52.  
  53. * Interrupt Activity -  Interrupt utilization, Interrupt dispatches
  54.  
  55.     System performance information can be displayed locally at the
  56. server or remotely from any OS/2 client connected to the server,
  57. using the Osrm2 Administrator utility.  The Administrator utility
  58. also provides detailed application performance information, showing
  59. how each application utilizes all of the above system resources.  "The
  60. Administrator utility's Application Monitor allows organizations to
  61. pinpoint which of their applications may be causing performance
  62. problems in their environment", says Castellucci.

  64.     Like the multi-node Osrm2 LAN System, Osrm2 LAN Lite also allows
  65. users to set performance thresholds for all of their system resources.
  66. If these thresholds are exceeded, the user is alerted through the Node
  67. Status screen, allowing them to take corrective action before a
  68. serious problem occurs.

  70.     Osrm2 LAN Lite version 1.3 is priced at $449 and requires OS/2,
  71. named pipes, and the IBM System Performance Monitor/2 (distributed
  72. feature only).  The multi-node Osrm2 LAN System has the same
  73. requirements and is available in a variety of configurations.
