  1. I obtained the following announcement from a fellow Capital PC User
  2. Group (CPCUG) member at the last OS/2 SIG meeting.  He asked me to post
  3. it here.  Sounds like fun.

  6. Proposed OS/2 Programming Contest
  7.  
  8. $100 cash awarded to the winner.
  9.  
  10. Goal: Program a "twinkle" using an OS/2 2.0 PM thread.
  11.  
  12. Definition: A twinkle is a screen graphic thread that displays some
  13. "cute" animation on the screen.  For example: a bouncing ball, a top
  14. spinning, a man walking, fireworks, etc.
  15.  
  16. Judging: The winner will be selected on the basis (in order of
  17. importance) of:
  18.  
  19. 1. Meeting the above goal.
  20. 2. The quality of the code.  This includes readability, as well as
  21. appearance, understandability, and comments (The comments should be at
  22. the level of an experienced DOS programmer).
  23. 3. The artistry of the graphic display.
  24.  
  25. Timeframe: Entries must be submitted on diskette by the August 1992 OS/2
  26. SIG meeting.  The winner will be announced at the September OS/2 SIG
  27. meeting.

  29. Considerations:
  30. 1. Entries must be original works.
  31. 2. All entries will be available to all entrants.
  32. 3. Some of the entries may be published in the monitor.
  33. 4. If the winner is not a CPCUG member, part of the prize money will be
  34. used to purchase a membership.
  35.  
  36. Employees of Rhintek and their families are not eligible.
  37. All entries become the property of Rhintek.
  38. The decisions of the judges are final.
