DESCRIPTION
USER PRODUCTIVITY
PERFORMANCE: OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.3 performs system
functions faster than OS/2 EE Version 1.2 in memory-constrained
environments. A memory-constrained environment is caused when
applications overcommit system memory and disk swapping is necessary.
For many applications the improved program load facility of
OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.3 provides a performance enhancement
of two to three times faster than OS/2 EE Version 1.2 when loading
programs from LAN Servers to LAN Requesters. Enhancements for any
given application may vary outside this range. The performance is
influenced by the amount of code the application preloads at start-up
time.
The minimum memory requirement is reduced from 3.5MB to 3.0MB.
This minimum memory will allow a Communications Manager application,
such as Terminal Emulation or LAN Requester, to operate concurrently
with a DOS compatibility mode application.
Environments that require more than 3.0MB of memory include
use of the Database Manager, multiple communication protocols, or
large OS/2 applications. Users should ensure that they have the
capability to expand their memory beyond 3.0MB.
The Communications Manager Batch Configuration Utility used to
create, delete and modify profiles has been enhanced to add SNA
Gateway, and extend 3270 emulation, SNA/APPC, SDLC and LAN
environments. System administrators can take advantage of these
facilities to make configuration in the new areas more streamlined.
The Print Manager simplifies the installation of printers and
printer device drivers. It contains the interface to a new industry
standard Print Spooler that is fast, efficient, and which simplifies
printing over a local area network.
OS/2 installation now allows optional base operating system
functions to be selectively written to disk, which permits a
reduction in fixed disk requirements and allows additional fixed disk
space for user programs and data.
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
FUNCTIONALITY: OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.3 includes Adobe Type
Manager and will be shipped with IBM's core set of fonts. Adobe Type
Manager accepts Adobe Type 1 outline fonts to provide high quality
typographical text in a full range of sizes and styles to all
supported printers and displays. This ability provides, "What You
See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG)" technology for OS/2 Presentation
Manager (PM) applications. Over 600 different typefaces available in
Adobe Type 1 Font format can now be used with OS/2.
The core fonts are:
o Times New Roman (2)
o Times New Roman Bold
o Times New Roman Italic
o Times New Roman Bold Italic
o Helvetica (3)
o Helvetica Bold
o Helvetica Italic
o Helvetica Bold Italic
o Courier
o Courier Bold
o Courier Italic
o Courier Bold Italic
o Symbol.
Adobe Type Manager requires no new application programming
interfaces and works with existing OS/2 applications that use
Presentation Manager outline fonts.
AVIO fonts are provided to allow a user to select a suitable
command line window font to match the system display.
The Communications Manager component of OS/2 EE has several
enhancements, including the ability for ACDI calls to be redirected
across a LAN. This ability allows OS/2 EE ASCII terminal emulation
users to use the modem and line pooling facilities of the IBM LAN
Asynchronous Connection Server Version 2.0. For more details, refer
to Programming Announcement 290-550, dated September 5, 1990.
Etherand LAN support for the LUA (LU 0, 1, 2 and 3) protocols
will help enable solutions for financial and other industry customers
that require the combination of LUA applications over etherand LANs.
3270 emulation users benefit from the additional AVIO display
fonts. A greater choice is available to match the application and
display environments, and to more fully utilize the entire screen.
OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.3 has support for Type 2.1
(T2.1) Nodes. A workstation using OS/2 EE Version 1.3 can function
as a T2.1 node attached to another T2.1 node in the non-sub area
network environment. This workstation, when functioning as a
peripheral node, can communicate with an SNA sub-area network using
the T2.1 protocol if the proper levels of NCP and VTAM (TM) are used.
T2.1 node support allows parallel LU6.2 sessions.
The DOS Database Requester supports the IBM Token-Ring, IBM PC
Network, and Ethernet LAN environments. Either the LAN Server
Version 1.3 or the LAN Support Program are required for Ethernet LAN
support. The DOS Database Requester Workstation requires the
installation of the LAN Support Program Version 1.2 and DOS 3.3, or
later, to support the NETBIOS session used to communicate with the
OS/2 Extended Edition Database Manager server.

ACCESS OF EXTERNAL RESOURCES ACROSS DOMAINS: Cross domain access of
resources can be accomplished through external resources definitions,
which is a full screen interface function, through the use of
appropriate APIs, or by using explicit NET SHARE and NET USE
commands. Once a user's ID and PASSWORD are validated, that user can
access resources outside of the logged-on domain provided the network
administrators have shared the resources and provided the appropriate
access permission.

ADAPTER TESTING: National Software Testing Laboratories, Inc. (NSTL)
is an independent laboratory that has indicated to IBM that it plans
to offer an OEM Ethernet LAN adapter compatibility testing service
for OS/2 EE Version 1.3. Manufacturers of Network Driver Interface
Specification (NDIS)-compliant Ethernet LAN adapters will be able,
for a fee, to submit their adapters and NDIS drivers to NSTL for
compatibility testing with software supporting Ethernet DIX Version
2.0 and IEEE 802.3 protocols provided in the Communication Manager
function of OS/2 EE Version 1.3. OS/2 EE Version 1.3 Communications
Manager's implementation of NDIS is based on the Microsoft
publication, LAN MANAGER NETWORK DRIVER INTERFACE SPECIFICATION
VERSION 1.0.1, dated May 4, 1988. The specific details of IBM's
implementation will be available from IBM upon request to:
IBM Corporation
Department D53
11400 Burnet Road
Austin, TX 78758
Any claims of compatibility with OS/2 Extended Edition
Version 1.3 will be made by each OEM Ethernet LAN adapter
manufacturer and/or NSTL. NSTL has advised IBM that NSTL plans to
announce availability of this service fourth quarter of 1990.
Inquiries regarding the service should be directed to NSTL at
(215) 941-9600. NSTL certification of an OEM's NDIS-compliant
Ethernet LAN adapters is not meant in any way to constitute an
endorsement of the OEM's products by IBM, and IBM will not warrant or
provide technical or defect support for the claims made by such OEM
or NSTL.
UPDATED INFORMATION FOR ORDERING API DOCUMENTATION: Previous
announcements have described a Business Graphics Interface and an
Interpretive Services Interface. Instructions were given on how to

File Backup Utilities can be used with OS/2 Extended Edition
Version 1.3 to backup and restore stand-alone and network server
workstations.
MEMORY ESTIMATING WORKSHEET
The minimum memory requirement for an Operating System/2 mode only
environment is 3.0MB. This minimum memory will allow users in
Operating System/2 mode to execute a Communications Manager terminal
emulation application, and an application program, such as a
spreadsheet application comparable to existing IBM DOS applications.
Users should ensure that they have the capability to expand their
memory beyond 3.0MB. Environments likely to require incremental
memory include concurrent IBM DOS-mode applications, multiple
communications protocols, or concurrent communications and data base
applications. PS/2 Model 70 (8570) Models E61 and 121 and PS/2
Model 80 (8580) Models 111 and 311 use 128KB of memory for hardware
system use. Memory planning information is available in the
INFORMATION AND PLANNING GUIDE.
The attached worksheets can be used to help determine capacity
requirements for a particular OS/2 configuration.
To estimate memory requirements, add the recommended memory
size for the operating system base to the size for each installed
function and application, plus an allowance for user data buffer
requirements.
The numbers shown in the worksheets give the recommended
memory size in MB for concurrent operation of designated OS/2
functions. These numbers reflect the working set of the OS/2
functions listed, not the total size of all the code and data areas
that comprise the functions. The quantities shown assume an
acceptable degree of swapping. Refer to Memory Management Techniques
in the INFORMATION AND PLANNING GUIDE for a description of the method
used to develop these quantities.
The memory requirement is less if the user does not execute
all installed functions and applications concurrently. In that case,
the required memory size is the sum of the base operating system and
the particular functions and applications the user wishes to execute
concurrently, plus an allowance for user data. Using less than the
recommended memory size may increase the time to switch from one
function or application to another, reduce keystroke responsiveness,
reduce throughput, and increase the size of the swap data file
(identified in the fixed disk estimating worksheet).
FIXED DISK ESTIMATING WORKSHEET
A minimum of 30MB of fixed disk is required on one or more disk
drives. This will allow a user in Operating System/2 mode to execute
a Communications Manager application, and an application program,
such as a spreadsheet application comparable to existing IBM DOS
applications. Users should ensure that they have the capability to
expand their fixed disk beyond 30MB. In addition to space for
user-written programs and data files, some examples of environments
likely to increase disk requirements are concurrent installation of
the Communications and Database Managers, and the extent to which
execution of concurrent applications occurs (requires segment swap
areas). In these cases, users should ensure that they have the
capability to expand their fixed disk beyond 30MB. Fixed disk
planning information is provided in the INFORMATION AND PLANNING
GUIDE.
PACKAGING: OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.3 will be shipped on
3.5-inch (1.44MB) dual-sided diskettes and 5.25-inch (1.2MB)
dual-sided diskettes.
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY AND CONTROL
Security features are the same as provided by OS/2 Extended
Edition Version 1.2.
User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and
implementation of security features, administrative procedures and
appropriate controls in application systems and communication
facilities.

DESCRIPTION
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
In addition to all previously announced function, IBM Operating
System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 provides increased performance
over OS/2 SE 1.2. IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition
Version 1.3 is faster in performing system functions than OS/2 SE 1.2
in memory-constrained environments. (A memory constrained
environment is caused when applications overcommit system memory and
disk swapping occurs).
The minimum system storage required to operate OS/2, including
the DOS compatibility mode, has been reduced from 2.5MB to 2.0MB.
This reduction will allow many Personal System/2 (R) (PS/2 (R))
systems to utilize the true multitasking of IBM Operating System/2
Standard Edition Version 1.3 without additional storage.
NOTE: 2.5MB or greater system memory and a 60MB or greater fixed
disk partition are recommended for use with the high performance file
system.
A new selectable install utility allows IBM Operating System/2
Standard Edition Version 1.3 to install in less fixed disk storage
than OS/2 SE 1.2, freeing more space for user programs and data. The
smallest install will require approximately 8.0MB of fixed disk space
and the full install 11.0MB on a system with at least 4MB of system
memory.

Corporation.
GROWTH ENABLEMENT
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 includes Adobe
Type Manager and will be shipped with IBM's core set of fonts. Adobe
Type Manager accepts Adobe Type 1 outline fonts to provide high
quality typographic text in a full range of sizes and styles to all
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.2 supported
printers and displays, providing "What You See Is What You Get"
(WYSIWYG) technology for OS/2 Presentation Manager (TM) (PM)
applications. Over 600 different typefaces available in Adobe Type 1
font format can now be used with OS/2.
(TM) Trademark of International Business Machines Corporation.
The twelve core fonts included with IBM Operating System/2
Standard Edition Version 1.3 are:
o Times New Roman (2)
o Times New Roman Bold
o Times New Roman Italic
o Times New Roman Bold Italic
o Helvetica (3)
o Helvetica Bold
o Helvetica Italic
o Helvetica Bold Italic
o Courier
o Courier Bold
o Courier Italic
o Courier Bold Italic
Adobe Type Manager requires no new application programming
interfaces and works with existing OS/2 applications that use
Presentation Manager outline fonts. IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.3 will support additional vendor font-rendering
technologies developed for use with IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.3.
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 includes
Procedures Language 2/REXX (REXX). REXX is an easy-to-learn language
designed to facilitate the writing of clear, structured, interpreted
procedures. REXX can provide the data manipulation and procedural
logic framework for OS/2 commands and conventional calls to other
high-level languages and CMD programs.
The REXX interpreter implements both the SAA (TM) level 1 and
the SAA level 2 definition of Procedures Language. Because of this,
it provides a more portable procedural alternative to OS/2 CMD
programming, reducing the programming investment for users who
require applications that execute in several SAA environments. REXX
helps protect programming investment for users who already developed
REXX procedures for other SAA environments. REXX was previously
available in OS/2 Extended Edition Version 1.2.
REXX also includes a repertoire of arithmetic, string
handling, and logic operations that can be interpreted by OS/2.
Users may use REXX as a personal computing language without requiring
a compiler. The extended repertoire in this interpreter can enhance
programmer productivity. In addition, REXX may be used to extend an
application by creating macros that have a mix of REXX instructions,
application specific instructions, and OS/2 commands.
The limit on the number of active Presentation Manager windows
has been increased 10 - 20 times over IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.2 in the same environment.
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 remains
fully compatible with existing and new OS/2 capable systems and
applications.
IBM OS/2 SE 1.3 provides a new, faster and more efficient
print spooler. Also available is a new API that enables applications
to configure the spooler for their specific needs without requiring
user interaction with the Print Manager.
(2) Registered trademark of the Monotype Corporation, plc.
(3) Trademark of the Linotype AG and/or its subsidiaries.
(TM) Trademark of International Business Machines Corporation.
Users can now elect to install and configure their printer
setup at system install time. The install procedure with user
prompting creates the appropriate Print Manager configuration.
Enhanced printer device drivers for both IBM and non-IBM
printers are provided that will support a wide range of user and
application environments:
A new Proprinter (R) driver with support for multiple graphics
resolutions, multiple paper sources and downloading of code pages
(with additional memory). By supporting resident printer fonts
this driver has significant performance improvements for text.
An improved HP LaserJet (4) for the LaserJet series of printers
supports a variety of fonts including resident fonts, cartridge
fonts and downloadable soft fonts. Significant performance
improvements can be obtained by using device fonts.
A device driver that supports current Epson 9 and 24 pin dot
matrix printers. The printer type is selected by model or from
generic options.
A PostScript (5) device driver supporting numerous specific
PostScript printers and generic support for other PostScript
printers. It also provides the ability to download Adobe-format
fonts to provide significant synergy with the new Adobe font
support.
A Queue Driver specifically for use in plotting provides improved
appearance of pictures spooled to a vector plotter by reverse
clipping the data. Hidden lines and patterns are removed from
solid objects that overlap, resulting in a more accurate hard
copy of the screen image.
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 provides
new text window fonts, which allow the user to tailor command line
window text to preference. This feature enables the display of more
usable information in the same area or makes the original information
easier to read.
New program properties functions allow the user to define a
working set of applications that start up at boot time, eliminating
the need for STARTUP.CMD and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 has
National Language Support for thirteen languages: Canadian French,
Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian,
Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, United Kingdom English, United
States/Universal English.
OS/2 Programming Tools and Information Version 1.2/1.3
supports the application developer. This product will support the
new features and function provided by IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.3. New APIs are provided to support the print
spooler, drag/drop and spin button functions. An upgrade is
available for customers with OS/2 Programming Tools and Information
Version 1.2.

SUPPORTED HARDWARE FOR FAMILY APPLICATIONS: Assuming there is
sufficient memory, display, and other appropriate hardware, a family
application can run on all the system units supported by the
Operating System/2 and IBM Disk Operating System Version 3.30 or
4.00. Family applications are created by using the Family
Application Programming Interface of OS/2 and utilities supplied in
the Programming Tools and Information Version 1.2/1.3 Upgrade.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS: An application developer should acquire a
license for the IBM OS/2 Programming Tools and Information
Version 1.2/1.3. The OS/2 Programming Tools and Information
Version 1.2/1.3 is required to create an IBM Operating System/2
application using either the Presentation Manager or Dialog Manager.
The OS/2 Programming Tools and Information Version 1.2/1.3 requires
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.2 or IBM Operating
System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 and accompanying manuals.
COMPATIBILITY: With the following exceptions, programs designed to
run under IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.2 will
run under IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 and do
not need to be reinstalled.
NOTE: Customers who have compiled programs using IBM FORTRAN/2 (TM)
Version 1.00 or 1.01, that are to be run on IBM Operating System/2
Standard Edition Version 1.3, must get maintenance level 1.02 of IBM
FORTRAN/2 and recompile their programs to ensure proper function and
correct results.
If the application uses certain subsystem function such as
physical video buffer access, registering of subsystem functions, or
character device monitors, it will be required to run in a
full-screen OS/2 session. Otherwise, the application can be windowed
by specifying it as "run in a text window" when installing the
application under the OS/2 Presentation Manager.
Licensees of Basic Compiler/2 (TM), Macro Assembler/2 (TM),
PASCAL Compiler/2 (TM) or C/2 (TM) Version 1.0 may submit the
CodeView Update order form contained in the IBM Operating System/2
Standard Edition Version 1.3 package to receive an update to CodeView
containing advanced function for debugging OS/2 applications. The
order form must be accompanied by proof of license of the eligible
language product being used. IBM will honor requests for the update
until December 31, 1991.
NOTE: This CodeView update is the same update made available for
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition 1.1 and IBM Operating
System/2 Standard Edition 1.2.
Depending on the programming language used to develop
applications, some capabilities of IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.3 may not be possible to implement in an
application.
IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3 does not
support the SYS utility or the /s option of the FORMAT command.
The BACKUP and RESTORE commands are supported in protect-mode
only.
Programs compiled using the Version 1.2 Presentation Manager
will run on Version 1.3 without change.
The DOS environment of IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition
Version 1.3 protects a user's investment in current software by
providing the capability to run existing DOS programs, subject to
certain limitations described in the IBM Operating System/2
documentation.
Generally, the DOS environment is compatible to a subset of
IBM DOS 4.00 function. Support for disk files greater than 32MB was
included in IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.1, and
is available in DOS compatibility mode. The IBM DOS 4.00 support for
greater than 25 lines of text mode display and support for additional
video modes for PS/2 displays are also available in DOS compatibility
mode. The remaining new IBM DOS 4.00 functions, such as the DOS
Shell or LIM/EMS, are not supported. The DOS command line interface
that resembles the one in DOS 3.30 is also provided. The IBM
Operating System/2 Family API allows programs to be written that will
run on IBM DOS 3.30, IBM DOS 4.00, IBM Operating System/2 Standard
Edition Version 1.1, IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition
Version 1.2, or IBM Operating System/2 Standard Edition Version 1.3.
(TM) Trademark of International Business Machines Corporation.
Many existing DOS applications may be run in the DOS mode of
OS/2. Users should be aware that some DOS applications, such as
communications and timing dependent programs, may not function
properly in the DOS mode of OS/2.

DESCRIPTION
USER PRODUCTIVITY
PERFORMANCE: The OS/2 LAN Server Version 1.3 uses the improved
program load facility of OS/2 EE Version 1.3.
For many applications this provides a performance enhancement
of two to three times faster than Version 1.2 when loading programs
from Servers to Requesters. Enhancements for any given application
will vary (possibly outside this range), influenced by the amount of
code the application preloads at the start up.
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
FUNCTIONALITY: With the inclusion of LAN Support Program 1.2 in OS/2
LAN Server Version 1.3, workstations may participate in an OS/2 LAN
Server Version 1.3 Ethernet environment. Customers now have the
option of including DOS workstations in their existing or new OS/2
LAN Server Version 1.3 Token-Ring, Ethernet or PC Net LAN.
GROWTH ENABLEMENT
EXPLOITATION: The OS/2 LAN Server Version 1.3 supports the hardware
platforms supported by OS/2 EE Version 1.3.
INTEROPERABILITY OF IBM LAN SERVERS AND REQUESTERS: Supported
combinations of logon and administration are defined in the following
table. PCLP Version 1.3 addresses Base Services (BS) and Extended
Services (ES).
Within a given domain, when multiple Servers are used the
Servers must be the same version and the same Corrective Service
Diskette (CSD) levels.
When OS/2 EE 1.3 is installed on the Requestor machine, the
Server machine supporting it is required to have one of the following
combinations installed:
o OS/2 LAN Server Version 1.2 with CSD WR04097 and OS/2 EE
Version 1.2
o OS/2 LAN Server Version 1.3 and OS/2 EE Version 1.3.

ACCESS OF EXTERNAL RESOURCES ACROSS DOMAINS: Cross domain access of
resources can be accomplished through external resources definitions
(which is a full screen interface function), or through the use of
appropriate APIs, or by using explicit NET SHARE and NET USE
commands. Once a user's ID and PASSWORD are validated, that user can
access resources outside of the logged-on domain, provided the
network administrator(s) have shared the resources and provided the
appropriate access permission.
