  1.  IBM OS/2 2.0 NAMED SOFTWARE "PRODUCT OF THE YEAR" BY DATAMATION AND
  2.  RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE

  4.       SOMERS, N.Y., Feb. 17, 1993 . . . IBM'S OS/2* 2.0 advanced
  5.  operating system for personal computers continues to garner
  6.  international acclaim from the computer industry's leading
  7.  publications.  OS/2 has won three additional industry awards,
  8.  one praising its technical excellence and two naming it product
  9.  of the year, bringing the total number of awards for the
  10.  easy-to-use, powerful, 32-bit operating environment in the last
  11.  three months to eight.
  12.       The February 15, 1993 issue of Datamation named IBM OS/2 2.0
  13.  "Product of the Year" in the PC software category.  In Europe,
  14.  Italy's PC Magazine**, a monthly data processing publication,
  15.  gave OS/2 2.0 its PC Technology award for 1992.  In addition,
  16.  Czechia's Software noviny named IBM OS/2 2.0 "Product of the
  17.  Year" in its February 1993 issue.
  18.        Since November, 1992, IBM OS/2 2.0 has won awards from the
  19.  computer industry's leading U.S trade publications -- PC
  20.  Magazine, PC Computing, PC World, Information Week, and Corporate
  21.  Computing -- honoring OS/2 2.0 in categories such as technical
  22.  excellence, most promising new product and best operating
  23.  system/environment.
  24.       "These industry awards prove that IBM OS/2 2.0 has clearly
  25.  achieved significant market momentum as the preeminent 32-bit
  26.  operating platform for today's high-performance personal
  27.  computers," said John Patrick, vice president of sales and
  28.  marketing, IBM Personal Software Products.  "The introduction of
  29.  OS/2-specific, 32-bit mainstream business applications from
  30.  Lotus, WordPerfect and Borland will help make OS/2 the obvious
