  1. OS/2 DCE ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP

  4. The Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) was developed by the
  5. Open Software Foundation to provide the basic services required
  6. to produce secure client/server application programs.  In this
  7. 5-day workshop, students become familiar with the components of
  8. OSF DCE Administration by installation, configuration, and
  9. administration of DCE for OS/2.  This workshop is a combination
  10. of classroom lectures and hands-on lab work (the student will
  11. spend a 50/50 ratio between lecture and lab).

  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. This workshop is for personnel responsible for the administration
  16. of Distributed Software Computing (DCE).  The knowledge gained
  17. will assist the administrator in installation, configuration and
  18. administration of DCE for OS/2.
  19.  
  20. This course reinforces key principles, topics and methods by
  21. using diagrams, examples, and coded applications.  This workshop
  22. combines classroom lectures with laboratory projects (50/50 ratio)
  23. to build and maintain an OS/2 DCE cell.
  24.  
  25. Topics include:
  26.   -  Installation of DCE components
  27.   -  Configuration of single/multiple machine cells
  28.   -  Principle, group, organization, and account management
  29.   -  Directory service management and replication
  30.   -  Cell security implementation and management
  31.  
  32. Objectives:
  33. After successful completion of this course, the student should be
  34. able to:
  35.   -  List and describe each core DCE component
  36.   -  Describe the inter-relationship of the core DCE components
  37.      to each other
  38.   -  Install and configure the core DCE components
  39.   -  Administrate the DCE environment
  40.   -  Add users and groups to the DCE cells
  41.   -  Administer the DCE namespace
  42.   -  Install typical DCE applications
  43.  
  44. Audience:
  45. DCE Administrators who want to learn more about installation, set
  46. up and configuration of DCE.  Also benefit to DCE application
  47. programmers.
