  1. "TESTED AND APPROVED FOR LAN SYSTEMS" PRODUCT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

  4. The "Tested and Approved for LAN Systems" program certifies products
  5. (software and hardware) for coexistence, interoperability, and
  6. compatibility in complex multi-vendor LAN environments. Independent
  7. Software Vendors and Independent Hardware Vendors can submit their
  8. products to the Integration Test Lab in Austin Texas for testing. This
  9. program is complimentary to the "Ready! for LAN Server" product
  10. certification program that was announced in August.

  12. Products to be tested are installed in a LAN System environment with
  13. software products from IBM (LAN Server, Communication Manager/2,
  14. Distributed Computing Environment, LAN NetView, LAN Distance, etc) and
  15. other vendors (Novell, WordPerfect, Lotus, etc) - along with DOS,
  16. DOS/Windows*, NetWare*, and OS/2* clients. Over 200 hardware systems
  17. from IBM and other vendors (AST, Compaq, CompuAdd, Digital, Dell,
  18. Gateway, NCR, NEC, Olivetti, Packard Bell, etc) are used in the test
  19. lab.

  21. Test elements include:
  22.   o Installation - verify smooth installation, reinstallation and
  23.     deinstallation
  24.   o Function - verify dynamic compatibility by exercising a set of the
  25.     product's functions under busy real-life conditions.
  26.   o Testing - verify execution of functional tests.

  28. Once a product has been certified, it receives the official "Tested and
  29. Approved for LAN Systems" certification mark which vendors can then
  30. display on their product packaging and in their advertising programs.
  31. Certified products, along with their test reports, will be listed on
  32. CompuServe, TalkLink (OS/2 BBS), 1-800-IBM-4FAX, National Solutions
  33. Center database, and Ziff-Davis' Support On Site* for Networks on
  34. CD-ROM.

  59. program range from $3,000 to $10,095 USD depending on the test product's
