LAN SERVER 3.0 BEATS NT ADVANCED SERVER! LANQuest Report Available!!
November 4, 1993
LAN Server 3.0 performance data is now available on IBM FAX Information
Service. This service can be accessed by IBM employees or customers
and is a quick vehicle for getting LAN Server 3.0 information, as well
as other products.
Quotes such as the following extract from IBM Document number 2347
on LAN Server 3.0 vs NT Advanced Server are available:
"IBM LAN Server Advanced v3.0 supported up to 4 times the number of
users and 2.4 times the peak throughput of Microsoft Windows NT
Advanced Server v3.1.....sustained heavy network loads simulating
at least 400 real-world clients.....with the release of NTAS,
Microsoft may choose to phase out LAN Manager, leaving network
administrators with two migration paths.....NTAS (with a) need to
upgrade to more powerful hardware. Alternatively, they can retain
their hardware investment and upgrade to IBM LAN Server Advanced."
