Overview
NetWare for SAA(R) 2.2 expands the existing Enterprise Communications
product family and provides support for a full suite of 32-bit client
platform solutions, including OS/2(R), Windows+ NT, and Windows 95.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 continues to provide support for the DOS/Windows
and Macintosh platforms.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 supports 2,000 client users. Connect through a
single gateway and have the capacity to support 2,000 client users
per NetWare for SAA 2.2 server.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 now supports multiple LAN and WAN topologies
including frame relay.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 is for customers who need reliable NetWare LAN to
SNA host connectivity. NetWare for SAA 2.2 complements IBM's
existing communications gateway products by providing SNA
connectivity specifically for the NetWare platform.
NetWare for SAA, the result of a connectivity alliance formed by
Novell and IBM in October 1995, builds on the networking expertise of
both companies.
NetWare for SAA 2.2, offers user-based licensing and supports
English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish languages. This
includes administration and management functions, as well as
documentation.
NetWare for SAA, NetWare for SAA:AS/400(R) Edition, NetWare
HostPrint, and NetWare HostPrint/400 continue to be available through
existing Novell distribution channels. Customers will have access to
NetWare for SAA product family information through Novell and IBM
field representatives. Novell will maintain its vast network of CNE
courses through the Novell Authorized Education Centers. Technical
and field support for the NetWare for SAA Product Family is enhanced
through IBM's expertise.
Intended Customers
NetWare for SAA 2.2 is for AS/400 and S/390(R) customers who
currently have, or who are planning to install, NetWare as their
network operating system. If you want to exploit 32-bit client
emulation and communicate through your NetWare for SAA gateway to an
SNA host, NetWare for SAA is for you.

environments and supports up to 2,000 Novell NetWare client
workstation users. NetWare for SAA 2.2 runs on an Intel platform and
requires a minimum 486DX processor with at least 16MB of memory.

DESCRIPTION
NetWare for SAA 2.2 provides 32-bit client support for OS/2, Windows
NT, and Windows 95 environments. If you want to exploit 32-bit
client emulation and communicate through your NetWare for SAA gateway
to a SNA host, NetWare for SAA is for you.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 supports 2,000 client users. If you want to
connect through a single gateway you now have the capacity to support
2,000 client users per NetWare for SAA 2.2 server.
NetWare for SAA also supports multiple LAN and WAN connectivity
options. With the migration of SNA networks to frame relay
technology for WAN communications, you can exploit the new frame
relay connectivity feature that NetWare for SAA 2.2 provides.
PRODUCT POSITIONING
The IBM and Novell alliance complements IBM's existing communications
gateway solutions by providing SNA connectivity for the NetWare
platform. NetWare for SAA 2.2 is for AS/400 and S/390 customers who
currently have, or who are planning to install, NetWare as their
network operating system.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 delivers user-based pricing along with the new
functional enhancements such as 32-bit client support for OS/2,
Windows 95, and Windows NT environments, and WAN support for frame
relay environments.
For customers with non-Novell networks, IBM's Communications
Manager/2 is the preferred solution for the OS/2 LAN Server Platform
and IBM Client Access for AIX(R) is the preferred solution for the
AIX environments.

The NetWare for SAA 2.2 Specification Sheet G325-6586-00 is available
from IBM.
EDUCATION SUPPORT
NetWare for SAA 2.2 education is provided by Novell Inc., through its
Novell Authorized Education Centers. The NetWare for SAA
"Installation and Troubleshooting" class (#720) is currently

SCHEDULE
NetWare for SAA 2.2 will be available from Novell and its resellers
on December 6, 1996.

NetWare for SAA 2.2 is a gateway server solution for AS/400 and S/390
environments and supports 2,000 Novell NetWare client workstation
users. NetWare for SAA 2.2 runs on an Intel platform and requires at
least a 386DX processor with at least 16MB of memory.
NetWare for SAA 2.2 supports all the significant LU types
(0,1,2,4,6.2), as well as 32-bit client environments for OS/2,
Windows 95, and Windows NT. In addition, NetWare for SAA 2.2
supports all the major LAN and WAN topologies including frame relay.
ORDERING INFORMATION
NetWare for SAA 2.2 is available only through Novell Inc., and its
resellers. IBM will not process orders for NetWare for SAA 2.2.

from IBM, the IBM Personal Systems Support Line applies. Voice
