  43. Each preloaded software option provides a hardfile installed with the
  44. appropriate software, so that only customer specific parameters such
  45. as network addresses need to be entered.

  47. Intended Customers
  48.  
  49. The preload options are for customers who want selected OS/2 options
  50. preloaded on the 3172 Interconnect Controller Model 3 hardfile.
  51.  
  52. Key Prerequisites
  53.  
  54. A 3172 Interconnect Controller Model 3 must be ordered from the
  55. factory with one of the preloaded hardfile features installed.

  61. DESCRIPTION
  62.  
  63. The 3172 Model 3 with OS/2 Warp Connect installed continues the
  64. tradition of providing enhancement capabilities to our customers.
  65.  
  66. IBM OS/2 Warp Connect Version 3 provides full 32-bit OS/2 and DOS,
  67. software support, enabling users to take full advantage of the power
  68. of their 3172 Model 3 while preserving their investment in
  69. application programs.
  70.  
  71. The following OS/2 Warp Connect products are contained on the 3172
  72. preloaded hardfile:
  73.  
  74. o  OS/2 Warp Version 3.0
  75.  
  76. o  TCP/IP for OS/2 Version 3.0 -- provides a replacement for IBM
  77.    TCP/IP Version 2.0 Base Kit.
  78.  
  79. OS/2 Warp Version 3.0:  OS/2 Warp Version 3 is the follow-on release
  80. to OS/2 Version 2.1.  It represents IBM's continuing effort to
  81. enhance this award winning operating system to appeal to a much
  82. broader segment of the networking environment.  OS/2 Warp has
  83. simplified installation, enhanced usability, a refined user
  84. interface, improved "fit and finish" and has been performance tuned.
  85. OS/2 Warp Version 3 ships with all the support necessary to run OS/2,
  86. and DOS programs.

  88. The new LaunchPad is a customizable tool bar on the desktop that
  89. allows access to any object on the system with a single mouse click.
  90. The LaunchPad can be in either vertical or horizontal orientation or
  91. be set to float to the top of the DeskTop.  The user can add their
  92. most frequently used objects to the LaunchPad, or any object on the
  93. system and access them or switch between open objects with a single
  94. mouse click.

  96. TCP/IP for OS/2 Version 3.0:  TCP/IP for OS/2 Version 3.0 combines
  97. all of the industrial strength TCP/IP functionality of the popular
  98. Version 2.0 product.  Users of TCP/IP for OS/2 Version 3.0 can now
  99. enjoy simultaneous LAN-based TCP/IP connectivity.  TCP/IP Version 3.0
  100. for OS/2 is not sold separately.  It has been included in the OS/2
  101. Warp Connect to provide even greater value to the customer.

  103. Specified Operating Environment
  104.  
  105. Machine Requirements:  The build-to-order 3172 Interconnect
  106. Controller Model 3 is required for the preload software packages to
  107. operate.
  108.  
  109. Hardware Requirements
  110.  
  111. The minimum 3172 hardware configuration for OS/2 Warp Connect is:
  112.  
  113. o  Pentium 90Mhz Processor and 16MB RAM
  114. o  OS/2 hardware package
  115. o  Mouse and mouse extension
  116. o  One or two channel adapters
  117. o  LAN adapters
  118.  
  119. Limitations:  Refer to the 3172 Interconnect Controller Model 3 and
  120. Model 390 Hardware Planning Guide (GA27-4003) for a complete listing
  121. of the hardware limitation requirements.
  122.  
  123. ORDERING REQUIREMENTS
  124.  
  125. The following programs are included with the preloaded software
  126. packages for the 3172 Interconnect Controller Model 3.  The programs
  127. included in each software preload package must be ordered for
  128. registration and billing purposes and have the same system number as
  129. the 3172 Model 3.  All software programs must be ordered at the same
  130. time as the 3172 Model 3 hardware order to allow for proper
  131. scheduling.
  132.  
  133. To order, enter the appropriate AAS order number and the one-time
  134. charge feature number.  Only one feature number, with a maximum
  135. quantity of one, may be entered for each order type number.

  300. replacement parts will only be available from the factory.
