These low-cost, competitive offerings provide software developers
with all the product documentation and toolkit documentation they
need to learn about IBM's Software Servers and to program for them.
As part of these subscription services, subscribers receive:

o Royalty-free sample source code
o Pre-release and fix versions of software tools

The IBM Developer Connection is an annual subscription program that
offers software developers the latest programming tools, product
updates, product information, and test environments from IBM.
New to the IBM Developer Connection family of products are offerings
created especially for developing and testing the IBM Software
Servers -- the IBM Developer Connection Cross-Platform Developer
Kits. With these low-cost, competitive offerings, developers can
quickly and easily move into the enterprise business, gaining
expertise in client/server networks. Developers who are already
experts can extend the life of their existing OS/2(R), AIX(R), and
Windows+ NT applications.
Included are API-level toolkits for the following IBM Servers:
o Communications Server
o Database Server
o Directory and Security Server
o Internet Connection Server
o SystemView(R) Server
o Transaction Server
o Lotus Notes
An integrated cross-platform test environment is available for IBM
Software Servers for OS/2 and AIX. Within the subscription year,
most IBM Software Servers will run on Windows NT.
In addition to getting Cross-Platform Developer Kit releases twice a
year, subscribers will receive an automatic subscription to the
Developer Connection for OS/2 and AIX, ensuring updates of IBM's
software tools.
Subscribers to the Lotus Notes Cross-Platform Developer Kit will join
the Lotus Business Partners Connection Program. Members of the Lotus
Business Partners Connection Program receive the Lotus Notes client,
SmartSuite software, and quarterly updates to cross-platform toolkit
and information collections.

The IBM Developer Connection Cross-Platform Developer Kits are
low-cost, competitive offerings that provide software developers with
all the tools, kits, and test environments they need to create
software server applications.

PRODUCT POSITIONING
The Developer Connection is IBM's annual subscription program
designed specifically for software developers. The Cross-Platform
Developer Kits provide software developers complete, low-cost
packages to create network-centric applications for IBM Software
Servers.
PUBLICATIONS
All product publications are shipped on CD-ROM. The online books can
be viewed and searched easily with online viewers that are either
shipped with the server product, such as BookManager(R) or IPF, or
reside on the respective operating system.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Specified Operating Environment
Hardware Requirements: The hardware and software requirements for
each IBM software server are dictated by that particular product.
For programming on OS/2 and Windows NT, the recommended minimum
hardware requirements are:
o 486 DX2, 66MHz
o 24MB RAM
o 810MB disk space
o CD-ROM drive
For programming on AIX, the recommended minimum hardware requirements
are:
o Units supported by AIX 4.1, or later
o 24MB RAM
o 810MB disk space
o CD-ROM drive
Software Requirements: Installation and execution of the IBM
Software Servers (used for test purposes only) require OS/2 Warp for
OS/2 products; AIX Version 4.1, or later, for AIX products; and
Windows NT Version 3.50, or later, for Windows NT products.
Limitations: Limitations are dictated by the specific server
products.
Performance Considerations: Performance considerations are dictated
by the specific server products.

Program Upgrade
The program package upgrade option allows currently licensed users of
Developer Connection for OS/2 and AIX to obtain the new function for
a program upgrade charge. Customers are entitled to one kit (one
part number) per subscription. IBM Developer Connection
Cross-Platform Developer Kits will be available April 22, 1996.
Orders will be accepted after April 22, 1996. Proof of License for
each upgrade ordered is required.
Customers can also order upgrades through the local IBM office using
the IBM Personal Software Upgrade and Certification Order Form.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Licensing: The program described in this announcement is licensed
under the terms and conditions of the IBM International Program
License Agreement. A copy of the agreement is included in the
program package.

Limited Warranty: Yes
Program Services: Support and technical assistance for the Developer
Connection Cross-Platform Developer Kits is provided by submitting
questions on the Internet or by calling an 800 number and receiving
responses directly from IBM or Lotus. Access to the 800 number and
the Internet forum will be available to all subscribers until the
subscription expires (12 month duration).
For non-U.S. countries, all service is Internet only. The statement
of service included in the program package describes this service.

Connection Program is available through their 800 hotline support.
