CICS for OS/2 Functional Overview
CICS for OS/2 enables complex transaction management applications in
a networked client/server environment. It supports users' business
critical processes. It handles interactions between terminal users
and application programs in a way which ensures predictable, rapid
and high integrity responses to user requests. It provides the
capability to exploit the power of the workstation together with
networks which may be local area or wide area, stand-alone or
host-attached.
CICS for OS/2 is a member of the CICS family, with support for a
range of platforms from mainframes to workstations, with connectivity
to transactions and data on all other CICS systems, and with support
for common applications across all these platforms. The CICS family
enables transaction management workload to be shared across
platforms, with multiple cooperating functions run close to the user,
local, regional or corporate data, or solutions optimized to minimize
network communications traffic. CICS for OS/2 is a scalable
solution, offering opportunity for low transaction volume and cost
restrictive solutions for start-up businesses, which may be extended
by introduction of more powerful processors or migration to CICS on
other platforms as business growth and needs dictate.
Particular functions in CICS for OS/2 enabling the creation and
operation of a secure online system include:
o Functions for communications between application programs and
local and remote workstations, terminals, subsystems, printers,
and other devices.
o Control of concurrently running programs serving many online
users.
o Controlled access for authorized users to databases and files.
o Communication with other CICS systems and database systems, both
local and remote, on OS/2 and other platforms.
The principal areas of function in CICS for OS/2 are:
1. Interoperability
Intercommunication facilities allow for great flexibility, and
enable CICS for OS/2 systems to be supported and configured across
a wide variety of networks, including APPC, TCP/IP and NetBIOS
(including NetBIOS over IPX/SPX using Novell NetWare). Existing
networks may be exploited for transaction management: for
example, CICS data may be accessed from existing NetWare
applications, or CICS transaction management integrated into
existing NetWare environments. Also CICS for OS/2 can be used
with IBM's leading commercial messaging MQSeries(TM) software.
o Distributed Program Link allows a transaction to link to
programs on a connected CICS system.
o External Call Interface (ECI) enables a non-CICS application to
call a CICS for OS/2 program synchronously or asynchronously.
The ECI offers a simple interface whereby non-CICS software may
cooperate with CICS server applications, communicating via a
COMMAREA. For example, this enables transaction management to
be integrated with personal productivity applications. The ECI
may also be accessed from the CICS Clients. Running ECI
applications in the server also enables a single machine to be
used for developing and testing applications intended for
client/server use on a LAN.
o Transaction Routing allows a terminal user in one CICS system
to run transactions in any connected CICS system.
o External Presentation Interface (EPI) enables modern
presentation technologies, such as a graphical user interface,
to be used with unaltered old applications generating 3270 data
streams. It allows any OS/2 application program to emulate a
terminal while invoking a CICS transaction; the transaction can
be an unaltered existing BMS transaction. The EPI may also be
accessed from the CICS Clients.
o Function Shipping allows application programs in one CICS
system to have requests to address resources (such as files or
queues) in any other connected CICS system executed on that
system.
o Distributed Transaction Processing is a facility which allows
communications between transactions running in different
systems. The partner system need not be a CICS system.
o Asynchronous Transaction Processing allows a CICS transaction
to start a transaction in a remote system and pass data to it.
It is a form of function shipping request which is similar to
Distributed Transaction Processing.
o When used with MQSeries, a CICS transaction can start a
transaction on a remote CICS or non-CICS system and pass data
to it. MQSeries supports the use of MQI in CICS applications,
can participate in CICS syncpoint, and supports triggering of
CICS applications.
2. Data Management Functions
Interfaces within CICS for OS/2 allow access to data held in
databases, operating system data sets, and areas within CICS
itself. The SQL interface is supported. CICS for OS/2 can be
used with all the major database products, IBM and non-IBM. The
file control interface provides access to transactional
record-level file systems.
CICS provides facilities for use by applications of transient
data, which handles queues of data being sent to a device (such as
a printer), and temporary storage (which provides a scratchpad
facility which may be used by the transaction itself or for
passing data or parameters between transactions).
During normal execution of a task, information is logged about all
protected data (called recoverable resources) that is being
changed, and if the transaction fails or is cancelled by an
operator, updates to recoverable files controlled by CICS for
OS/2 will automatically reverse. This safeguards other tasks from
the possibility of using corrupted data. Applications can specify
intermediate synchronization points (sync points) at which data
updates are logically complete.
3. Presentation Management
Commercial applications characteristically use pre-defined screen
presentations known as FORMS. These appear in the current
generation of collaborative workgroup applications, such as those
supported by Lotus Notes, and in Internet/World Wide Web based
applications, as well as in traditional terminal-oriented
transactional and database applications.
CICS Basic Mapping Services (BMS) supports the design of
form-based applications, allowing many device dependencies to be
abstracted from the application code and specified in a separate
Map Library. BMS maps may be used without change or recompilation
across all members of the CICS family. The approach of generating
maps at compilation time also ensures that good performance is
achieved with any given device class. BMS maps and 3270 data
streams can be used when Transaction Routing between CICS systems.
The CICS Internet gateway (see below) extends the function of BMS
to generate World Wide Web pages, by dynamically converting 3270
datastreams into HTML datastreams for use with Internet.
4. Realtime Services
CICS for OS/2 contains a number of control functions which
supervise and control the allocation of resources within the
system. These provide an interface to operating system functions
which allows CICS for OS/2 to manage its workload in a way which
is optimized for transactional work. These functions are:
o Task Control manages the status of all CICS tasks. Operating
system processes can be allocated in an efficient way which
does not require a separate process for each terminal or
operator. Priorities may be assigned to transactions,
operators and devices with the sum of these priorities being
used to determine the overall priority for a given task.
Security checking is also provided in order to determine
whether access for a user is to be allowed, employing either
user authorization facilities, or the use of external security
facilities via runtime user exits.
o Program Control associates a task with the appropriate
application program. Many tasks may use a shared copy of the
program.
o Storage Control acquires, controls and frees dynamic storage
used for programs, input/output areas, work areas, etc..
o Timer Services is a set of functions which allow applications
to start and control a range of time-dependent actions, for
example, starting a particular transaction at a certain time of
day, or signalling when a specified period has elapsed.
5. Application Development Services
Application programs for CICS for OS/2 may be written in COBOL, C,
C++ or PL/I, and incorporate CICS commands within the program to
invoke the CICS functions required. A range of facilities is
provided to assist in development of applications. These include:
o A command language translator that pre-processes source code
CICS commands into the form that the relevant language compiler
requires. (PL/I does not have a translator but uses an
integrated pre-processor).
o The Execution Diagnostic Facility to enable the programmer to
test and debug application programs online.
o Source code debuggers.
o A command-level interpreter for online syntax checking and
optional command execution.
o Extensive trace and formatted dump facilities, including
auxiliary trace formatter, exception tracing, time stamp on
trace entries, trace and dump output in binary, and system trap
handling.
o Multi-session debug, which allows the user to run several
simultaneous debug sessions.
o Sympathetic Failure Notification (SFN) between client and
server.
CICS for OS/2 is the platform of choice for the development of
CICS applications for running on all CICS systems, especially the
mainframe. Existing human resources in CICS application
programming may be used for development of applications for
workstations. Existing applications developed for different
environments may be readily ported to the workstation. In
addition, applications intended for client/server use may be
developed and tested in a single workstation. CICS for OS/2 may
be employed together with powerful application development tools,
such as IBM VisualAge(TM) or IBM VisualGen(TM). The support for
C++ (with the facility for CICS API commands to be contained
within class libraries) means that CICS for OS/2 supports CICS
application development using Object-oriented methods, with its
benefits of greater re-use of code and gains in programmer
productivity, program quality and maintainability.
6. Performance and Systems Management
CICS ensures optimum performance for transactional applications by
incorporating numerous features designed for high performance
operation, effective management of workloads in uni-processor and
multi-processor systems, and monitoring the performance of actual
workloads under a variety of conditions. CICS for
OS/2 incorporates a high performance record-oriented file system,
an efficient transaction scheduling and dispatching mechanism, and
a workload balancing systems which allows transactional workloads
to be distributed over a pool of application server processes.
This ensures that uniprocessor systems are fully exploited and
allows transparent exploitation of symmetric multi-processor (SMP)
systems.
CICS systems are designed for long running execution with
consistently high availability, allowing customer applications to
be delivered with nearly continuous availability. This is
achieved by a combination of high quality software engineering,
ensuring that application delivery is not compromised by software
faults, and a comprehensive approach to systems management which
allows most systems administration activities to be performed
online while CICS is running. CICS for OS/2 Version 3 includes a
comprehensive facility for Resource Definition Online (RDO),
allowing CICS resources such as files, queues, programs, and
transaction definitions to be defined interactively. It also
includes a completely new Master Terminal facility (see below)
which allows the status of these resources to be queried and
varied to meet operational needs during production runs.
CICSPlex(TM) System Manager for MVS/ESA(TM) can now manage
CICSplexes that include CICS for OS/2 systems (at Version 2.0.1
with CSD 7, or CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0). CICSPlex SM offers a
single-system image that can contain CICS/ESA(R), CICS/MVS(R),
CICS/VSE(R) and now CICS for OS/2. This lets you take action on
multiple systems with a single command, and manage the status of
CICS resources on multiple CICS for OS/2 systems from a central
control point on MVS/ESA.
What's New in CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 incorporates a wide range of enhancements
over CICS for OS/2 Version 2.0.1. The description below details
these new functions. Most functions of CICS for OS/2 Version 2.0.1
are supported by CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0, with some exceptions
which are listed below.
Use based pricing is introduced to CICS for OS/2 in Transaction
Server for OS/2 Warp. This means that the former division of CICS
for OS/2 into single-user and multi-user products no longer applies:
the price of Transaction Server for OS/2 Warp, Version 4.0 is based
on its use. Use metrics are based either on numbers of concurrent
connections at an individual CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 server, or on
the total number of registered users in an enterprise. For more
information, see the section on use based pricing.
A tool for license management is incorporated in the product. This
provides assistance to the system administrator in monitoring the
number of connections to the workstation and verifying that the
purchased number of licenses is not exceeded. It also enables a user
who has installed the product on an evaluation basis to move to a
full production license without having to re-install.
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 is a 32-bit product. This brings
performance improvements in the running of CICS for OS/2 itself, of
existing 32-bit applications in C, C++, and PL/I, and of COBOL
applications by enabling them to be migrated to 32-bit.
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 introduces support for application programs
in 32-bit COBOL, using 32-bit COBOL compilers from IBM and from Micro
Focus**. Customers with existing application programs in COBOL are
recommended to migrate to 32-bit, which they must do in order to use
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0. For support of applications in 16-bit
COBOL or 16-bit C, it is necessary to continue to use CICS for
OS/2 Version 2.0.1, since for compiler run-time support reasons it is
not possible for CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 to support these
applications. CICS for OS/2 Version 2.0.1 will continue to be
available.
Restrictions have been removed in the size of C, C++, and PL/I
programs which may be run. Support has also been added for user
exits in PL/I, as already available for C, C++, and COBOL.
Extensions have been implemented to the CICS API supported by CICS
for OS/2 Version 3.0 in almost all areas, and it now supports the API
of CICS for MVS/ESA 4.1, with limited exceptions principally in user
journaling and full BMS support. These extensions allow simpler
porting to CICS for OS/2 of applications written for other CICS
systems, and increase the power of CICS for OS/2 as a platform for
the development of applications intended for use on mainframe CICS.
There are also enhancements to the System Programming Interface
(SPI).
The CICS API for FORMATTIME has been extended to support 4-digit year
numbers in preparation for the YEAR 2000(R). (This is in line with
the similar function in CICS for MVS/ESA 4.1).
The transaction CEMT (Master Terminal) is now provided in CICS for
OS/2 Version 3.0. This provides assistance for the Systems
Administrator by enabling a command line interface to provide a fast
path for the management of system tasks, transactions, and connected
systems. It may be used to inquire on or set the status of system
resources. The functions provided are closely similar to those
provided by CEMT in other CICS systems.
Support is introduced in CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 for APPC
communication with clients. This support is in addition to the
existing support for NetBIOS and TCP/IP, and applies to all members
of the IBM CICS Clients family. The existing distributed feature
clients, shipped as part of CICS OS/2(TM) Version 2.0 and CICS for
OS/2 Version 2.0.1, continue to be supported by CICS for
OS/2 Version 3.0, but support communications only by NetBIOS.
An interface is provided in CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 for the User
Profile Manager (UPM) external security manager. UPM is included in
OS/2 Warp Server Version 4 and also in, for example, OS/2 LAN Server
or OS/2 LAN Requester, and enables administration to be provided by
way of a Graphical User Interface or by the command line. Use of UPM
may be selected as an alternative to the use of the internal CICS
security facilities.
A full Resource Definition interface has been introduced providing a
set of API calls to enable a user to add, delete, retrieve, browse or
modify large numbers of resource definitions in a batch mode.
Modifications have been made to the local ECI and EPI interfaces in
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 to maintain consistency with the EPI and
ECI interfaces provided in clients.
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 includes enhancements to improve the
exploitation of SMP systems.
Program handling improvements have been introduced in CICS for
OS/2 Version 3.0. These include the removal of any limitation in the
number of program definitions (PPT entries) within the system; and
the provision of Newcopy, which enables the loading of a new copy of
an application program in the CICS system without re-starting the
system.
The CICS for OS/2 Performance Analyzer, previously available only as
a separate product, has been integrated into CICS for
OS/2 Version 3.0, at a new level supporting this 32-bit product.
This is a statistics and monitoring package, providing information on
how CICS transactions and resources are being used in the system.
This information may then help in making decisions on tuning the
system for optimum performance. The primary uses of the CICS for
OS/2 Performance Analyzer are:
o To provide routine performance management information;
o To provide information that will assist in the resolution of
performance issues;
o To provide a tool for capacity planning;
o To provide a high-level application trace;
o To provide a high-level application timing probe;
o To allow other remote CICS systems to interrogate the transaction
statistics and user clock data held on the CICS for OS/2
Version 3.0 server.
A number of serviceability and usability enhancements have been
introduced in CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0. These include additional
capabilities in the supplied transaction CEDA to enable users to
process resources within group names, the introduction of APPLID on
messages, the removal of a limitation in the number of transaction
definitions (PCT entries), and improvements to temporary storage and
transient data support.
Changes have been made in CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 to the
installation process. The process enables the selection of different
components of the product, allowing the benefits of reducing
installation time and conserving storage by not installing components
which are not required. The components are:
o CICS for OS/2 run-time system;
o CICS for OS/2 development system;
o Soft-copy books;
o Four groups of samples: COBOL samples; PL/I samples; C and C++
samples; and external interface samples.
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 introduces translation of error messages,
help information, screens and panels, including those in the supplied
transactions, to the following languages: German; French; Italian;
Spanish; Brazilian Portuguese; Japanese; Korean; Simplified Chinese;
and Traditional Chinese. It also extends the range of code page
support.
CICS Clients Functional Overview
For further details on the CICS Clients Version 1.0, refer to
Software Announcement 295-010, dated January 24, 1995.
The IBM CICS Clients are a family of client products for workstations
running a range of operating systems. They communicate by a variety
of protocols and through a range of supported communication products
directly with CICS servers on a range of platforms. They are
available for the OS/2, DOS, Windows, and Macintosh platforms.
The CICS Clients enable the support or attachment of a wide range of
workstation hardware, including low cost workstations, medialess
machines, existing low-function workstations, bar-code readers, and
mobile personal computers with only intermittent host or LAN
connectivity. Common applications may be run in or accessed from
different departments which have disparate computing environments.
CICS Clients enable the exploitation of productivity-enhancing
workstation facilities, such as graphical or multimedia interfaces,
with CICS transactions in other systems. They also enable the
exchange of data directly between CICS and personal productivity
applications being used on the desktop.
CICS Clients have communication capabilities via the APPC (LU6.2),
TCP/IP, and NetBIOS (including NetBIOS emulation over IPX/SPX by
NetWare) protocols, with some limitations in the case of the DOS and
Macintosh platforms. Platforms supporting CICS servers with which
the CICS Clients may operate include MVS/ESA, MVS(R), VSE/ESA(TM),
OS/400(R), AIX, OS/2, and several OEM platforms including Windows NT.
All functions and all communications protocols are supported with
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0, but note that there are some limitations
with some other CICS servers. They can also be connected through an
SNA gateway, for example IBM Communications Manager/2 configured as a
gateway, or IBM AIX SNA Gateway/6000 Version 2.1. There is also
support for remote server access using IBM LAN Distance(TM), giving
remote branch offices that are not normally connected into the
central site LAN the ability to access CICS network resources.
The following functions are offered by the CICS Clients:
o CICS 3270 emulation, which enables a client workstation to
function as a 3270 display for CICS applications, without the
requirement for a separate 3270 emulator product. This enables
flexible client workstation capabilities without a large software
stack; and it may be employed as the first simple stage in
implementing a client/server solution with no programming effort.
It includes the ability to customize the client emulator's colors
and keyboard mappings, allowing users to tailor the machine to
their own preferences or to meet, for example, company standard
keyboard layouts.
o Support for the EPI, which enables client applications to start
and converse with an existing 3270 CICS application running on the
CICS server. The CICS application sends and receives 3270
datastreams to and from the client application as though it were
conversing with a 3270 terminal. The client application captures
these datastreams and usually displays them with a non-3270
presentation product, such as graphical user interface or
multi-media software. The EPI can be viewed as a method of
enhancing an existing CICS application by adding a graphical or
other modern interface to it; the CICS application does not need
to be altered.
o Support for the ECI, which enables a non-CICS client application
to call a CICS program synchronously or asynchronously, as a
subroutine. The client application communicates with the program
in the CICS server using a data area called a COMMAREA. The ECI
is the preferred interface for developing new client/server
applications, with the business logic on the server and the
presentation logic on the client.
o Client printer support, which is the ability to define a printer
terminal on the client. This enables CICS applications running on
the server to direct output to a client-attached printer.
What's New in CICS Clients Version 1.1
The following new functions are included in the CICS Client for
OS/2 Version 1.1:
o The CICS gateway for Lotus Notes enables Notes users to access
CICS applications and data on any CICS server in the network.
With the gateway all Notes clients can have access to a single,
managed copy of that data with no changes required to the
transaction system. Thus the gateway brings together the familiar
Notes environment and the proven strengths of CICS transaction
processing.
This function uses the ECI.
o The CICS Internet gateway enables existing CICS 3270 applications
to be accessed from an Internet World Wide Web browser. Any Web
browser on any system can be used and no changes are required to
the CICS application. As well as gaining access to CICS
applications from anywhere the Internet is available, those
applications will benefit from the graphical user-interface
provided by the browser.
The Web Browser is used as an emulator for a 3270 CICS application
running on the server. This function uses the EPI.
o The REXX interface to the ECI allows client programs to be written
in REXX as an alternative to C, C++, PL/I or COBOL.
In all four CICS Clients Version 1.1, translation of error messages
and help information has been extended to over 20 languages. The
required language is selected as an installation option.
The limit of 15 concurrent EPI calls has been removed for the CICS
Client for OS/2 Version 1.1.
The CICS Client for Macintosh Version 1.1 now also supports Power
Macintosh hardware.

PUBLICATIONS
The publication Transaction Server for OS/2 Warp Version 4 Up and
Running! (GC33-1674) is shipped in hardcopy as part of the program
package.
This publication provides a step-by-step procedure using default
settings to enable the user to get started with the product. It
covers a simple scenario of a basic production system of a single
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 server running on an OS/2 Warp Server
Version 4 base, connected to an OS/2 or Windows client machine over
TCP/IP or NetBIOS. From this, the installation may be extended to a
larger system, using the documentation supplied in soft-copy on the
CD-ROM. If the initial installation is to be on a different base, is
to be other than the above configuration, or is to be for developing
application programs, then the user should go straight to the
soft-copy documentation on the CD-ROM, starting with the Installation
book. Information is provided in the "Up and Running!" book
describing how to print or view this documentation.
The following CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0, CICS Family, and CICS
Clients publications may be purchased in hard-copy: contact your IBM
representative or your dealer. They are also provided in soft-copy
on the product CD-ROM: for details, see below. The suffix levels
shown are those which apply at general availability; in some cases
these levels may change during the product lifetime.

The minimum supported level of PNA is now Version 1.20.
This product uses existing interfaces.
Limitations: If CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 is used with ASCII
terminals via PNA, the maximum number of attachable terminals is
governed by the number of terminals per ARTIC card and the number of
ARTIC cards installable. There may also be native attachment of
ASCII terminals; the number is dependent on hardware capability.
The number of clients which may be connected via NetBIOS to a server
machine running CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 has a maximum of 254 per
LAN adapter; up to two LAN adapters may be used per server. There is
no limitation with the APPC protocol; with TCP/IP there is a limit of
999 clients. The actual number of clients that may be concurrently
connected by any protocol is dependent on system resources.
Performance Considerations: CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 should perform
5 to 15% better than CICS OS/2 Version 2.0 or CICS for OS/2 Version
2.0.1 in terms of throughput, using a comparable workload scenario;
the exact improvement is heavily dependent on workload type.
Measurements using an IBM PS750-P100 machine show that transaction
rates in excess of 20 transactions per second can be sustained.
The optional use of the Performance Analyzer can add up to
approximately 10% more CPU time per transaction.
More details are contained in a performance report on the product.

ORDERING INFORMATION
Use Based Pricing
The pricing of Transaction Server for OS/2 Warp is determined by its
use. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that sufficient
Additional Licenses and Use Based Features are licensed for the
actual use of the product. Both the Program Package and the
Additional License include the entitlement for one user.
An Additional License is required for each additional machine on
which CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0 is installed.
The CICS Clients delivered with the Transaction Server are licensed
for use with this product. In order to use the product, the
appropriate number of Use Based Features must be licensed. The
client code may be copied to as many client machines as are needed in
support of this use.
The number of Use Based Features required will depend on the
licensing model chosen. The customer must select one of the two
models as the basis on which the number of Use Based Features is
determined. These are:
1. Concurrent Users is the peak number of concurrent connections at
any time to a single server running CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0.
The number of concurrent connections is the sum of:
a. Directly connected terminals, including ASCII terminals with
either native attachment or connection through PNA; and
b. Connections from a client or other CICS system by ISC, ECI,
EPI, or terminal emulation; where these connections have
multiple sessions, the actual number of sessions is counted.
The product contains code which continually monitors the number of
concurrent users on this definition. If the Concurrent Users model
is chosen, the number of Use Based Features licensed should be
entered into the Nodelock Administration Tool which is in the
folder "License Use Runtime -- Client" on the desktop. This tool
should be run before the product is first initialized in order to
enroll the production license, and the number should be entered at
this time. When the product is operating, a warning will be given
should the number of concurrent users licensed be exceeded; note
that this warning will not prevent the product from operating. If
this warning is given, the customer should license further Use
Based Features, and again run the Nodelock Administration Tool in
order to inform the system of the new number of users licensed.
2. Registered Users is the total number of users identified or
defined to CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0, which may be spread across
multiple servers within an enterprise. A registered user is a
potential end user at a workstation, terminal, or other electronic
device, with the ability to connect to CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0,
either directly or indirectly via an intermediate device or
through another CICS system.
A way to achieve this is to enforce transaction security, which
will require each user to have a valid CICS userid, which may be
monitored using the CEDA transaction.
The customer must license sufficient Use Based Features for the
total number of registered users of CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0
servers in the enterprise. Determining and monitoring the number
of registered users is the responsibility of the customer.
The number of users measured by the monitoring code in the product
at any one server will not normally be the number of registered
users in the enterprise, though it cannot exceed it. The number of
registered users licensed should be entered using the Nodelock
Administration Tool in order to prevent spurious warnings of
excessive users being given.
The concurrent users licensing model is the only applicable choice in
situations where the total number of users cannot be defined, for
example where external users may access through the Internet.
Registered users may be the appropriate choice where there are many
users, for example at client workstations, who have simultaneous
connection to several servers running CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0:
each would count as several concurrent users, but as one registered
user.
Example 1: Concurrent Users. An installation of 4 servers running
CICS for OS/2 Version 3.0. Of these, 3 will have a maximum of 15
concurrent users each; the remaining server will have a maximum of 10
concurrent users. If the customer is purchasing through Software
