----------------------------------------
The SAA(R) Consumer Transaction/2 programs -- Consumer Transaction
(CT(TM)) Definition/2 and Consumer Transaction Runtime/2 -- provide
the OS/2(R) application enablers on which to develop integrated,
advanced branch teller and platform PS/2(R)-based financial
solutions. In addition to helping developers design applications
that showcase their products, Version 2.2 enhancements also help
increase end-user productivity.
Version 2.2 includes enhancements such as:
o Native notebook support
The CT/2(TM) definition tool palette now provides for a notebook
control. This notebook allows users to design applications with
complex data entry requirements in a minimum amount of time.
o Business graphics in a window
CT/2 software expands business graphics capability by providing a
WYSIWYG editor to design graphs, which users can display on a
transaction window. A new print option also is available that
allows users to print displayed graphs.
o Field events for pushbuttons
CT/2 software expands field event support to allow field events on
pushbuttons. This new capability gives users a simple way to
invoke transactions.
For a complete list and description of all the Version 2.2
enhancements, refer to the Description section.

DESCRIPTION
Version 2.2 Enhancements
o Native notebook support
The CUA(TM) '91 notebook control is included in the CT/2 toolkit.
A notebook allows for greater flexibility in data entry and
platform operations.
o Business graphics in a window
Graphs can be created using a WYSIWYG editor and displayed on a
transaction window.
o Field events for pushbuttons
Support for field events is extended to include pushbuttons.
Users can specify what happens when a pushbutton is pressed.
o Multi-instance capability
Multiple copies of CT/2 software can run on the same workstation.
This allows several operators to be signed onto a physical
workstation at the same time, sharing the input/output resources
of the workstation.
o Print Panel utility
A new feature on the panel editor allows users to print the
contents and characteristics of a panel.
o Ability to delete repository elements
Users can delete an unreferenced entity from the repository.
o Two-way DDE support
CT/2 software can act as a client and a server. Previously, CT/2
software could act only as a server.
o Remote support for 4772, 4777, and 4778 devices
CT/2 software provides remote (shared) support through LANDP(TM)
for the 4772, 4777 and 4778 devices.
o Print Trace/Log utility
Users can selectively print trace and log entries. The tool is
OS/2-based but handles CT/DOS and CT/2 files.
o Print support for business graphics
A print option is available when a business graph is displayed,
allowing users to print the displayed graph.
o Scalable windows
CT/2 software provides the ability to scale a CT/2 window and have
all controls scale appropriately. Users also can specify the
fonts during the scaling.
o Ability to list operator file contents
The capabilities of the ACCOP verb are expanded to allow for more
flexible operator file management.
o Support for JetForm Corporation forms software
CT/2 software provides support for making programming calls to
JetForm forms software from JetForm Corporation. This permits
information collected using CT/2 software to be printed on forms
created by the customer using JetForm software. JetForm software
is a separate non-IBM product and is not included in this
announcement. Customers can order JetForm software from IBM in
accordance with and under the terms of RPQ P90130.

Compatibility: Applications developed for CT Runtime/2 Version 2.2
are compatible with those previously developed for CT Runtime/2
Version 2.1. Because CT Runtime/2 uses 32-bit architecture, all
dynamic link libraries (DLLs) called from CT/2 software must use
32-bit architecture. This may require coding changes and a recompile
using a 32-bit compiler.
The first time CT/2 Version 2.2 is run it will re-level the Branch
file. Once the Branch file is re-leveled, it can no longer be used
by previous versions of the CT/2 or CT/DOS products.
A CT/DOS PTF will be made available to allow DOS compatibility with
the re-leveled Branch file.
