----------------------------------------
The 7524 Interface Support for OS/2(R) Release 2 now provides for
lower costs for customers whose requirements include a variety of
data collection terminal types.
The 7524 Interface Support for OS/2 Release 2 is an application
enabler that allows customers of DCC/2 to integrate 7524 radio
frequency (RF) terminals into their data collection network. This
permits customers to add portable terminals to their existing data
collection applications with little or no modification to transaction
programs, custom function routines, or data export programs.
The 7524 Interface Support for OS/2 Release 2:
o Integrates 7524 network management software with DCC/2 Release 1.1
to provide seamless operation of portable RF terminals in a DCC/2
terminal network
o Provides a method for downloading customized transaction programs
and custom function routines (CFRs) to the 7524 terminals and for
gathering data entered at the terminal
o Utilizes the DCC/2 logfile utilities for transaction and error
logging
o Manages the communications of RF terminals as they are moved
around a facility to ensure constant contact with the host PC
The 7524 Interface Support for OS/2 Release 2 now provides lower
costs for users by:
o Lower entry charges
o Usage level charges
Customers whose facilities vary in size can take advantage of the
flexibility in pricing the new usage level charges offer, thereby
lowering the cost of implementation.
Refer to Software Announcement 294-684, dated November 1, 1994, for
product details.
