IBM CallPath CallCoordinator Enhancements -- Improved Support and Compatibility
Announced on November 28, 1995
Software Announcement 295486
In Brief . . .
IBM CallPath CallCoordinator is IBM's comprehensive voice/data
management solution. It can improve employee productivity and
streamline customer service operations (for example, order
processing, claims inquiry, help desks). The following enhancements
are announced:
CallCoordinator/2 Version 2.1 Enhancements
o Is now compatible with OS/2(R) Warp Version 3.0
o Allows you to directly connect your workstations to either a
CallPath Server/2 or CallPath Server/6000 via TCP/IP
o Enables NetWare customers to run multiple instances of
CallCoordinator/2 Workstation, CallCoordinator/2 Server, and/or
CallCoordinator/2 Archive
CallPath CallCoordinator for Windows Enhancements
o Is now compatible with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft
Windows NT and Microsoft Windows 95 (Note: Data transfer is
limited when using CallCoordinator with NetBIOS and Windows 95)
o Allows you to directly connect to either a CallPath Server/2 or
CallPath/6000(TM) via TCP/IP without using the CallCoordinator/2
Server
o Coordinated voice/data transfer via TCP/IP
----------------------------------------
IBM's CallPath(R) CallCoordinator(TM) programs can help businesses to
increase the productivity of call centers, help desks, and service
bureaus by linking telephones and workstations with host computers.
Today, IBM is announcing new releases of CallPath
CallCoordinator/2(TM) and CallPath CallCoordinator for Windows+.
These new releases extend and enhance the support and compatibility
of these programs.
Increased Customer Satisfaction and Productivity
By linking telephones and workstations with host computers, CallPath
lets your service agents view customers' profiles at the same time
they answer the call. This intelligent answering function uses
calling or dialed number information to pop-up the customer's
information as the telephone rings. The intelligent answering
function also increases the productivity of your service agents by
eliminating the need to ask for account information and reducing the
number of keystrokes required to complete the transaction. And if
your agents need to transfer calls to another department, the
coordinated voice/data transfer function forwards on-screen customer
information at the same time the call is transferred.
Compatible With Many Existing Applications and Telephone Systems
With CallPath CallCoordinator/2 and CallPath CallCoordinator for
Windows, you don't have to build a new application system for call
management. You can easily create comprehensive call management
solutions that coordinate your existing business applications with
your telephone system.
CallCoordinator/2 and CallCoordinator for Windows provide a superior
combination of flexibility, function and connectivity. CallPath
CallCoordinator/2 and CallPath CallCoordinator for Windows can
operate with a variety of telephone systems, access applications on
multiple IBM computer hardware platforms, and in multiple
environments.
Enhancements Included in These New Releases
o New direct connect release of CallCoordinator for Windows
o Support for coordinated voice/data transfer via TCP/IP
o Enhanced NetWare** Support
o Compatibility with IBM Warp 3.0 (CallCoordinator/2)
o Compatibility with Microsoft** Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft
Windows NT and Microsoft Windows 95 (CallCoordinator for Windows)
Planned Availability Date: December 1, 1995

DESCRIPTION
CallCoordinator/2 Version 2.1 and CallCoordinator for Windows
Version 1.2 and Version 1.3 can interface with a variety of telephone
switching systems through IBM's CallPath Services Architecture.
These include:
o AT&T** Definity** G3i, G3r and G3s PBX's
o AT&T 5ESS** Central Office
o Northern Telecom** Meridian 1 PBX
o Northern Telecom DMS** 100
o ROLM** 9751 Release 9005
o ROLM 9751 Release 9006
o Aspect** Call Center
o Siemens Hicom 300**
o Ericsson** MD110
o Bosch** Integral 33X (Telenorma)
o SDX 420N **
Note: Some of the above listed switches may not be supported in all
countries and not all of the CallCoordinator functions are supported
on all switches. Also, be aware that availability of certain switch
functions may be dependent on the level of that switch's hardware
and/or software releases.
CallCoordinator/2 Version 2.1
CallCoordinator/2 Version 2.1 workstations may now be directly
connected via TCP/IP to either a CallPath Server/2 or CallPath
Server/6000. Coordinated voice and data transfer can still be
accomplished using the "program data" feature of the CallPath Server
product.
Traditionally, CallCoordinator/2 workstations have been connected to
one or more CallCoordinator/2 Servers using either NetBIOS or IPX as
their communication protocol. The CallCoordinator/2 Server would
then connect into CallPath Server/CallPath Server/6000 over TCP/IP.
This new CallCoordinator/2 Configuration will allow customers to
connect directly from the CallCoordinator/2 workstations to the
CallPath Server, offering a more cost effective solution for smaller
call centers and allowing CallCoordinator/2 users to connect to the
LAN via TCP/IP.
However, because the CallCoordinator/2 Server is not in the
configuration, the following limitations will be present:
o No support for CallCoordinator/2 Archive
o Limitation on transferred data to that which is supported by the
CallPath Server
o Limited number of agents
Coordinated Voice/Data Transfer Between Switches
o Cross-switch support allows AT&T G3 customers in a CallPath Server
environment the ability to transfer up to 32 bytes of data across
switches.
The above limitation does not apply when transferring calls within
the switch (as long as you are using CallCoordinator/2 Server and
not configured as "direct connect" to CallPath Server as described
above). Local transfers are handled in the same way as they were
handled prior to this release.
Enhanced NetWare Support
o Previously, NetWare customers could only run one instance of
CallCoordinator/2 Workstation, CallCoordinator/2 Server, and/or
CallCoordinator/2 Archive. NetWare customers now have the ability
to support multiple sessions, which will give them:
- The ability to support more than 24 lines via a VRU
- The ability to reduce hardware expense by allowing the user to
configure the same PC as a CallCoordinator/2 Workstation and
CallCoordinator/Server (or CallCoordinator/2 Server and
CallCoordinator/2 Archive)
Compatibility with OS/2 WARP Version 3.0 (CallCoordinator/2 only)
o CallCoordinator/2 Workstation, CallCoordinator/2 Server and
CallCoordinator/2 Archive supported when running under OS/2 Warp
Version 3.0. (Note: CallCoordinator Windows is not supported
under Warp.)
Support of New Functions/Features of the AT&T G3
o Redirect On No Answer (RONA)
o Expert Agent Selection (EASE)
o Converse Vector Command
Agent Logon and Activity Support
o This is via a user interface on those switches that support these
features.
- Agent Logon/Logoff thru the CallCoordinator End User interface
is supported on the AT&T G3 and the Northern Telecom SL/1
switches.
- Agent Activity control thru the CallCoordinator End User
interface is supported on the AT&T G3, ROLM 9005, Northern
Telecom SL/1 and the Aspect switches.
CallCoordinator/2 Server Enhancement
o Enhanced Backup Server Support
- Today, the CallCoordinator/2 server can operate as a "backup"
server, detecting heartbeats from the primary CallCoordinator/2
Server. If the primary CallCoordinator/2 Server is down, the
backup server can take over. With enhanced backup server
support, the CallCoordinator/2 Server can also detect if the
CallPath Server it is connected to (or the associated link to
the switch) goes down. If this condition is detected, the
backup server will be notified and it can take over as primary.
CallCoordinator/2 Archive Enhancements
o CallCoordinator/2 Archive will now provide a single source for
time
o CallCoordinator/2 Archive now supports additional fields. These
are:
- Reason
- AgentID_to
- AgentID_From
- Archive_Time
- Archive_Date
- Archive_TimeStamp
o Example reports can now be generated from the Archive database by
the use of Query Manager.
CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.2 (Classic)
o This version/release of CC for Windows is the version that is
currently shipping as Version 1.0 only with some slight
enhancements.
CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.3 (Direct)
o This Release allows CallCoordinator for Windows to be connected to
either a CallPath Server/2 or CallPath Server/6000 via TCP/IP
without using the CallCoordinator/2 Server. This release should
be used when a customer does not want to use the CallCoordinator/2
Server (for example, they require a RS/6000(TM) server) or when
the customers LAN communications is TCP/IP.
o The following limitations apply to this configuration:
- No support for the CallCoordinator/2 Archive
- A limited amount of data will be transferred during the
voice/data transfer.
- A limited number of agents are supported.
o Connection to a TCP/IP LAN
- Coordinated Voice/Data Transfer when CallCoordinator for
Windows is directly connected via TCP/IP to a CallPath Server
on selected switch platforms.
-- In the standard CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.2,
which is connected to CallPath Server via a
CallCoordinator/2 Server, you can transfer both voice and
data to another agent.
-- In the CallCoordinator for Windows (Direct) Version 1.3, you
can still transfer voice and data but the amount of data is
limited. The amount of data is dependent on the switch
type.
o Multiple Line Appearances
- CallCoordinator for Windows (Direct) supports multiple line
appearances.
o Compatibility with Microsoft's Windows NT
- The CallCoordinator for Windows Direct Connect product will
work in a Microsoft Windows NT environment (NT on the
workstation) using the TCPIP support within the NT operating
system.
o Compatibility with Microsoft's Windows 95
- The CallCoordinator for Windows Direct Connect product will
work in a Microsoft Windows 95 environment (Windows 95 on the
Workstation) using the TCP/IP support within the Windows 95
operating system.
CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.2 and Version 1.3
o Both CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.2 and Version 1.3 are
supported when using either of the following Microsoft's Windows
products.
- Windows for Workstation Version 3.11 or higher
- Windows for Workgroups Version 3.11 or higher
- Windows NT Version 3.1 or higher
- Windows 95
o Coordinated Voice/Data Transfer between switches
- Cross-switch support allows AT&T G3 customers in a CallPath
Server environment the ability to transfer up to 32 bytes of
data between switches.
- The above limitation does not apply when transferring calls
within the switch (as long as you are using a CallCoordinator/2
Server and not configured as "direct connect" to a CallPath
Server).
o Agent Logon/Activity
- Agent Logon and Activity support via User Interface on those
switching systems that support these features.
-- Agent Logon/Logoff thru the CallCoordinator End User
interface is supported on the AT&T G3 and the Northern
Telecom SL/1 switches.
-- Agent Activity control thru the CallCoordinator End User
interface is supported on the AT&T G3, ROLM 9005, and the
Northern Telecom SL/1.
o Multiple phone lines
- Provides the capability to use up to 4 phone lines.
o Additional CALLDRIVERS (Archive, Timestamp, Global Variable)
- These are functions that were previously available only in
CallCoordinator/2 and are now available in CallCoordinator for
Windows.
o Alphabetic phone directory search in agent user interface
- Provides the capability to allow the agent to search for a name
in either the personal or system directory by specifying the
first letter(s) of the name.
o Target agent pop-up panel
o Support of new functions/features of the AT&T G3
- Redirect On No Answer (RONA)
- Expert Agent Selection (EASE)
- Converse Vector Command
PRODUCT POSITIONING
IBM's CallPath CallCoordinator/2 Version 2.1, CallPath
CallCoordinator for Windows Version 1.2 and CallPath CallCoordinator
for Windows Version 1.3 are inbound/outbound call management
applications which interface to IBM's CallPath Server/2 or CallPath
Server/6000 for connection to a variety of telephone switching
systems.
CallCoordinator provides a superior combination of flexibility,
function, and connectivity. Many other products support only one
telephone system, or support only one hardware platform, or operate
in only one host computer environment.
IBM CallPath CallCoordinator can operate with a variety of telephone
systems, access applications on multiple IBM or non-IBM computer
hardware platforms, and in multiple environments. In addition,
CallCoordinator provides interfaces for IBM DirectTalk(R) voice
processing systems and other devices. Finally, CallCoordinator
provides a robust set of call management functions.
Each customer situation will be unique, in terms of requirements for
function, telephone system support, application platforms and
environments. Other issues, such as solution programming
requirements, solution cost, and speed of implementation may be
important.
CallPath CallCoordinator should be considered by customers who:
o Want to add call management function to existing applications
o Have or are planning to install a token-ring or Ethernet system of
intelligent workstations capable of running OS/2, Microsoft
Windows 3.1, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft Windows
95 or Microsoft Windows NT.
o Have business applications that reside on OS/2, Microsoft Windows
3.1, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, Microsoft Windows 95 or
Microsoft Windows NT and environments accessible via 3270 or 5250
terminal emulation.
o Prefer a distributed, cooperative processing call management
solution which can interface to multiple host computers
o Want to implement a call management solution quickly or start with
a pilot program and grow it over time.
