*-------------------------------------------------------------------*
IBM continues to grow its family of Internet Connection
products by supporting new platforms and functions. This gives you
even more flexibility to take advantage of the vast information and
services available on the Internet.
IBM plans to provide the following new Internet Connection
functions:

secure server will be provided. The NT server will have
capabilities similar to those available in IBM Internet
Connection Server for AIX (R) and OS/2 (R) Warp.
o Your choice of running Internet Connection for Windows in either
a Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 environment.
o A secure version of the Internet Connection Server for MVS/ESA
(TM) that will support the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Super
Hypertext Protocol (S-HTTP) security protocols.
o A View Application Programming Interface (API) will be provided
for the IBM WebExplorer. This API lets programmers include HTML
capability in their own applications.
Previews provide insight into IBM plans and directions.

Highway. IBM will continue to expand its family of Internet
offerings to make it even easier to access and conduct business on
the Internet.
INTERNET CONNECTION SERVER FOR WINDOWS NT
IBM plans to provide a Web server for Windows NT. This server will
provide functions similar to the other IBM Internet Connection
Servers, including the ability to host Web pages, giving you a
presence on the Internet.
To expand this presence and move you into electronic commerce,
the Internet Connection Server for Windows NT will also support the
SSL and S-HTTP security protocols so that sensitive data can be
safely transmitted over the Internet. Complemented by a secure Web
browser, such as the IBM Secure WebExplorer, you can be confident
that both ends of the transaction are secure.
INTERNET CONNECTION FOR WINDOWS ENHANCEMENTS
Internet Connection for Windows will be enhanced to give you the
choice of running in a Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 environment. System
requirements will be reduced by the implementation of a
high-performance VxD-based TCP/IP stack for the Windows 3.1 platform.
Support for point-to-point protocol (PPP) will also be
provided, extending the number of accessible Internet access
providers. Future enhancements will include the support of SSL and
S-HTTP for secure data transmissions, along with functional
enhancements to the browser.
INTERNET CONNECTION SECURE SERVER FOR MVS/ESA
MVS users will have the opportunity to take advantage of the Internet
by conducting secure transactions. IBM will enhance its Internet
Connection Server for MVS/ESA by supporting the emerging security
standards SSL and S-HTTP. These security technologies ensure that
information is encrypted for privacy and arrives at its intended
destinations.
Users who purchase or install the IBM Internet Connection
Server for MVS/ESA can upgrade to the secure server. In addition,
the base server and the secure server for MVS/ESA will provide double
byte character set (DBCS) support.
APPLICATION PROGRAM INTERFACE
The WebExplorer will be expanded to provide a View API. The View API
is for application programmers who want to include hypertext markup
language (HTML) capability to their own applications. This API
provides an HTML viewing window that displays HTML, eliminating the
need for the programmer to code the actual parsing and displaying of
the HTML.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
