  32.           managing the DB2 (R) family of relational databases.  DataHub for
  33.           OS/2 Version 2 provides a set of integrated database management
  34.           functions for the DB2 family that can help you achieve the following
  35.           business objectives:
  36.           o   REDUCED IS COSTS -- DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 simplifies many
  37.               database system management tasks and automatically handles many
  38.               of the differences between the databases.  The intuitive
  39.               graphical user interface (GUI) is task-oriented, and steps users
  40.               through the various database administrator (DBA) tasks.  DataHub
  41.               for OS/2 Version 2 allows you to leverage database administrator

  76.                  IBM DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 offers an
  77.           OS/2 workstation-based control point for managing the DB2 family of
  78.           relational databases across your enterprise.  Expanding upon the
  79.           functionality available today in DataHub/2 Release 2, DataHub for
  80.           OS/2 Version 2 supports your client/server data solutions across IBM
  81.           platforms.  DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 manages the following DB2
  82.           family databases:
  83.           o   DB2 for MVS/ESA Version 2.3 and Version 3.1
  84.           o   DB2/2 (TM) Version 1.2 and DB2 for OS/2 Version 2
  85.           o   DB2 for OS/400 Version 2.2 and Version 3.1
  86.           o   DB2 for VM (SQL/DS (TM) Version 3.3)

  126.                          DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 now supports additional
  127.                   network protocols between the DataHub control point and the
  128.                   managed workstation databases.  NetBIOS is supported on
  129.                   OS/2, and TCP/IP is supported on OS/2 and AIX.  This is in
  130.                   addition to APPC support on OS/2 and AIX.
  131.               -   Interoperability with Systems Management:
  132.                          DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 generates alerts and SNMP
  133.                   traps that can be processed by NetView for AIX, NetView for
  134.                   OS/2, or other SNMP-based Systems Management products.
  135.               -   Issue OS/2 commands to remote OS/2 managed hosts, including
  136.                   remote re-IPL of OS/2 managed hosts:
  137.                          These new features of DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 allow
  138.                   you to perform tasks at an OS/2 managed host.  For example,
  139.                   you can now manage OS/2  directories and files, determine
  140.                   which processes are running, perform OS/2 tasks, and re-IPL
  141.                   the OS/2 managed host.  In addition, you can transfer files
  142.                   to and from the OS/2 control point and the workstation
  143.                   databases managed by DataHub Support for OS/2 and you can
  144.                   update the DataHub Support configuration at the managed host
  145.                   to configure new databases.  You can also issue DB2 for
  146.                   OS/2 Version 2 commands or scripts remotely.
  147.               -   Issue concurrent database tasks:
  148.                          You can invoke administration tasks without having to
  149.                   wait for other tasks to complete.  For example, a DBA can
  150.                   issue a long-running table reorganization, and while that
  151.                   task is running, perform other tasks.
  152.               -   Install and setup DataHub easily:
  153.                          DataHub for OS/2 automatically checks for new
  154.                   databases on the LAN, simplifying the configuration of the
  155.                   system.  A number of other enhancements ease installation,
  156.                   configuration and management of the distributed database
  157.                   environment, allowing administrators to focus on the tasks to
  158.                   be performed, not on how to perform them.
  159.           o   Automate database management tasks:
  160.               -   Schedule tasks to execute at pre-defined times:
  161.                          With the DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 enhanced scheduler
  162.                   and timer functions, administrators can schedule routine
  163.                   tasks to run remotely and at specific times or specific
  164.                   intervals.  For example, routine database utilities, such as
  165.                   backup, load, and unload, can be scheduled to run remotely
  166.                   during off-peak hours.  DataHub monitors the scheduled tasks
  167.                   and records return codes, output, and error messages in the
  168.                   DataHub control database.  Return codes can also be forwarded
  169.                   to SNMP-based products for additional actions if desired.
  170.                   The DBA can easily query the DataHub database to find any
  171.                   problems needing attention.
  172.               -   Perform workflow management:
  173.                          With IBM FlowMark (TM) for OS/2, DataHub's functions
  174.                   can be scheduled and automatically executed in Flowmark's

  181.                   workflow model.  IBM FlowMark for OS/2 helps database
  182.                   administrators precisely document, test, and execute complex
  183.                   multi-step tasks.  DataHub executable commands can be dragged
  184.                   from the DataHub window and dropped onto FlowMark workflow
  185.                   models.
  186.           o   Interoperate with Systems Management products:
  187.                      DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 can interoperate with NetView
  188.               for AIX, NetView for OS/2, and other SNMP-based Systems
  189.               Management products.  When a problem occurs, DataHub for
  190.               OS/2 Version 2 can send an alert to the Systems Management
  191.               product to:
  192.               -   Open a NetView problem report and route it to the enterprise
  193.                   control point
  194.               -   Page a DBA
  195.               -   Take a specified corrective action
  196.                  DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 provides support for the
  197.           administration of DataPropagator Relational Version 1 Release 2
  198.           replication with AS/400 (R).  The DataHub Support/400 product will
  199.           not be continued.  Refer to Software Announcement 295-257, dated
  200.           June 21, 1995, for more information.  However, support for DB2 for
  201.           OS/400 Version 3 is available with DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 with a
  202.           limited set of functions, including browsing the database catalog.
  203.           Extended database Systems Management support for the DB2 for OS/400
  204.           database is planned to be provided in the DataHub family of products
  205.           in the future.
  206.           PRODUCT POSITIONING
  207.           DATAHUB FOR OS/2 WITHIN DATABASE SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
  208.           The IBM DataHub products are key components of Systems Management.
  209.           As enterprises in today's competitive environment grow, they have a
  210.           need to manage databases on a variety of platforms.  These diverse
  211.           systems must be managed efficiently and effectively for optimal
  212.           utilization of system and personnel resources.  DataHub for
  213.           OS/2 Version 2 is the solution for the management of the DB2 family
  214.           of databases -- for businesses that have a need to manage in a
  215.           multi-platform DB2 family database environment.
  216.           DATAHUB FOR OS/2 VERSION 2 AND DATAHUB FOR UNIX OPERATING SYSTEMS
  217.           DataHub for UNIX (1) operating systems addresses the multi-platform
  218.           UNIX operating system environment.  Many businesses have expanded

  227.           IBM's comprehensive strategy for delivering enterprise-wide systems
  228.           management solutions.  DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 interoperates with
  229.           network management products, such as NetView for AIX and NetView for
  230.           OS/2.  DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 interoperates with network
  231.           management products by alerting the network administrator to database
  232.           and systems problems via SNMP alerts.

  240.           DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 is an important part of any Information
  241.           Warehouse solution.  DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 manages the databases
  242.           in a data warehouse and the data replication processes within the
  243.           data warehouse.

  272.           TECHNICAL INFORMATION -- SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

  274.           DATAHUB FOR OS/2 VERSION 2 -- THE CONTROL POINT:  DataHub for
  275.           OS/2 Version 2 operates on any system unit supported by DB2/2
  276.           Version 1 Release 2 or DB2 for OS/2 Version 2.
  277.                  The system unit must have a drive capable of reading a CD-ROM.
  278.           An additional media option for 3.5-inch diskettes is available if a
  279.           CD-ROM drive is not available.
  280.                  The recommended amounts of memory and storage are as follows:
  281.           o   32MB memory for DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 and its prerequisite
  282.               software, if using DB2 for OS/2 Version 2
  283.           o   16MB memory for DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 and its prerequisite

  298.           Support for OS/2 Version 2 operates on any system unit supported by

  315.           OTHER DATAHUB SUPPORT PRODUCTS:  Hardware requirements for DataHub
  316.           Support for MVS and DataHub Support for VM remain the same.  Support
  317.           for OS/400 will be provided by the DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 control
  318.           point.  Refer to Software Announcement 295-257, dated June 21, 1995,
  319.           for information on the withdrawal of DataHub Support for OS/400 from
  320.           marketing.
  321.           SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  322.           DATAHUB FOR OS/2 VERSION 2 -- THE CONTROL POINT:  The control point
  323.           is the OS/2 workstation where the GUI resides.  The control point
  324.           must be connected to a database, so there has to be either a database
  325.           product, such as the Client Application Enabler (CAE), installed at
  326.           the workstation to connect to a remote database, or there must be a
  327.           database on the workstation.  The following are the recommended
  328.           requirements for the DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 control point:
  329.           o   OS/2 Version 2.11, or later (including OS/2 Warp)
  330.           o   Database products -- you must have at least one of the following:
  331.               -   DB2 for OS/2 Version 2 CAE or DB2/2 Version 1 Release 2 CAE,
  332.                   consistent with the corresponding database
  333.               -   DB2/2 Version 1 Release 2, or later, Single- or Multi-User
  334.               -   DB2 for OS/2 Version 2, or Single- or Multi-User
  335.           o   Communications -- DataHub for OS/2 Version 2 supports APPC,
  336.               NetBIOS, and TCP/IP protocols.
  337.                      The communication software you require depends on the
  338.               protocols you want to use and the support provided by the managed
  339.               database.  You must install at least one communication protocol.
  340.               If you use several protocols, you must have all of the required
  341.               products installed.
  342.               -   For APPC connectivity for either OS/2 and/or AIX managed
  343.                   hosts, use IBM Communication Manager/2 Version 1.1, or later.
  344.               -   For NetBIOS connectivity for OS/2 managed hosts, install the
  345.                   LAN Adapter and Protocol Support (LAPS) available in IBM
  346.                   Network Transport Services/2 (NTS/2) Version 1.0, or
  347.                   equivalent.
  348.               -   For TCP/IP connectivity for OS/2 or AIX managed hosts, use

  356.           OPTIONAL SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:  OS/2 LAN Requester Version 3.0, or
  357.           later (or equivalent) is required on the workstation if you want to
  358.           store executables on a file server.  IBM OS/2 LAN Server would then
  359.           be required on the file server.
  360.                  DDCS/2 Version 2 Release 2, or later, is required to operate
  361.           with DataHub Support for MVS or DataHub Support for VM.
  362.           o   DDCS/2 Multi-User Gateway Version 2, or later, is required if the
  363.               OS/2 workstation is to be the gateway to a managed SNA database
  364.               system (that is,  with MVS or VM hosts).  DDCS/2 Multi-User can
  365.               be located anywhere on the LAN.
  366.           o   DDCS/2 Single-User Version 2, or later, is required if the
  367.               workstation does not serve as a gateway for other workstations on
  368.               the LAN.  DDCS/2 Single-User must be located on the same machine
  369.               as the client requester.
  370.                  NetView for AIX, NetView for OS/2, or other SNMP-based Systems
  371.           Management products are required if you want to trap SNMP alerts.
  372.           DATAHUB SUPPORT FOR OS/2 VERSION 2 -- OS/2 MANAGED HOSTS
  373.           o   OS/2 Version 2.11, or later (including OS/2 Warp)
  374.           o   Database products -- you must have one of the following:
  375.               -   DB2/2 Version 1 Release 2, or later, Multi-User
  376.               -   DB2 for OS/2 Version 2, Multi-User
  377.           o   Communications -- APPC connectivity, use IBM Communication
  378.               Manager/2 Version 1.1.
  379.                      For NetBIOS connectivity, install the LAN Adapter and
  380.               Protocol Support (LAPS) available in IBM NTS/2 Version 1.0, or

  388.           o   AIX Version 3.2.4, or 3.2.5 for the RISC System/6000 (R)
  389.               NOTE: DataHub Support for AIX does not support AIX 4.1
  390.           o   AIX DCE Threads/6000 V1.1
  391.           o   Databases products -- you must have one of the following:
  392.               -   DB2/6000 Version 1 and DB2 Client Support/6000 Version 1,
  393.                   Multi-User
  394.               -   DB2 for AIX Version 2, Multi-User
  395.           o   Communications -- one or more of the following may be required,
  396.               depending upon configuration:
  397.               -   For APPC connectivity, use DB2 Client Support/6000 with SNA
  398.                   Support Feature Version 1.1, or DDCS for AIX Version 2
  399.                   Release 3 and IBM AIX SNA Server/6000 Version 2 Release 1.
  400.               -   For SNA host connectivity, DDCS/6000 Version 1 Release 1, or
  401.                   later, is required to operate with DataHub Support for MVS
  402.                   and DataHub Support for VM.
  403.                          DDCS/6000 is required only when connectivity is needed
  404.                   to a managed SNA database system.  Use the DDCS version
  405.                   corresponding to the DB2 version installed.

  418.                  DB2 for the HP-UX and Solaris environments is not supported by
  419.           DataHub for OS/2 Version 2.
  420.           BOOKMANAGER REQUIREMENTS:  To use the displayable softcopies of the
  421.           DataHub manuals, one of the following programs is required:
  422.           o   BookManager READ/MVS (5695-046)
  423.           o   BookManager READ/VM (5684-062)
  424.           o   BookManager READ/2 (5601-454)
  425.           o   BookManager READ/DOS (5601-453)
  426.           o   BookManager READ/6000 (5765-086)
  427.                  BookManager READ/2 and READ/DOS are included on the CD-ROM.
  428.           The CD-ROM contains the displayable softcopies of the DataHub
  429.           manuals.
  430.           PLANNING INFORMATION
  431.           CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES:  The program package for DataHub for
  432.           OS/2 Version 2 includes a license for one DataHub for OS/2 control
  433.           point and licenses for five DataHub support components for managing
  434.           the workstation (that is, OS/2 or AIX) databases.  All components of
  435.           this package are licensed under the IBM International Program License
  436.           Agreement, IPLA.  The databases managed can be any combination of the
  437.           following:
  438.           o   IBM DB2 for AIX Version 2
  439.           o   IBM DB2/6000 Version 1
  440.           o   IBM DB2 for OS/2 Version 2
