  88. OVERVIEW  INSTALLATION
  89.           IBM's new integrated installation program makes it easier than ever
  90.           to install one or all of the products packaged with the OS/2 Warp
  91.           Connect products.  This enhanced installation program checks for
  92.           appropriate hardware.  In addition, the program provides two options
  93.           for installing the product on your workstation.  Easy installation
  94.           lets you quickly install OS/2 Warp with Internet access and IBM Peer
  95.           for OS/2 and NetWare Client for OS/2.  You can also select the
  96.           Advanced installation path to install selected products directly from
  97.           the CD-ROM, or across the LAN from a CD-ROM equipped workstation.
  98.           The products on OS/2 Warp Connect may also be installed separately
  99.           via CD-ROM or the 3.5-inch diskette images provided.
  100.           LAN CLIENT SOLUTION
  101.           OS/2 Warp Connect and OS/2 Warp Connect with WIN-OS2 provide a set of

  164.                  IBM WEBEXPLORER is a World-Wide Web (WWW) browser for OS/2.
  165.           This program supplies a graphically rich, interactive interface to
  166.           the fascinating world of the Internet.  Users of the WebExplorer can
  167.           jump from one Internet location to another by simply selecting
  168.           highlighted text or images in the main window.
  169.                  ULTIMEDIA (R) MAIL/2 LITE provides an easy-to-use interface
  170.           for creating, sending and receiving, and storing electronic mail.
  171.           Ultimedia Mail/2 Lite supports MIME protocol, which enables
  172.           multimedia mail and replaces LaMail available in TCP/IP for
  173.           OS/2 Version 2.0.

  182.                  NEWSREADER/2 provides a graphical interface to LAN or Internet
  183.           connected news servers.
  184.                  TELNETPM allows you to login to other computers on the
  185.           Internet or the user's LAN.  TelnetPM provides terminal access to
  186.           programs and information on other computers.  TelnetPM supports VT100
  187.           and VT220 emulation.  A telnet server is also provided to allow
  188.           terminal access to an OS/2 computer from authorized users on other
  189.           computers.
  190.                  PMANT allows access to information and programs located on
  191.           Internet or LAN connected hosts that support 3270 sessions, such as
  192.           VM or MVS, using TN3270 emulation.  PMANT is an OS/2 Presentation
  193.           Manager (R) application.  TN5250 is available for terminal access to
  194.           AS/400 (R) computers.
  195.                  FTPPM allows you to transfer files easily between your
  196.           computer and other computers on the Internet or LAN.  If you are
  197.           authorized access to a given computer, you can manipulate files on
  198.           that computer as if it were your own.  FTPPM is an OS/2 Presentation
  199.           Manager application.  An FTP server is also provided so that
  200.           authorized users on other computers on the network can access files
  201.           on OS/2 computers.
  202.                  LPR/LPD enables users to print files on TCP/IP print servers
  203.           on the network, which may be AIX (R), UNIX, OS/2, or other types of
  204.           computers.  The LPD server allows any OS/2 machine to function as a
  205.           TCP/IP print server.
  206.                  SNMP allows network management by elements, such as gateways,
  207.           routers, and hosts.  This function provides a means of communication
  208.           between network elements regarding network resources.  TCP/IP
  209.           Version 3.0 provides SNMP agent and manager functions, and the agent
  210.           is extensible:  new subagents can be created to manage additional
  211.           computer functions, using the DPI 2.0 interface.
  212.                  PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) support provides users with
  213.           improved network accessibility.  SLIP dial support is enhanced.

  255.           IBM PEER FOR OS/2
  256.           IBM Peer for OS/2 provides access to other computer devices on the
  257.           LAN, such as hard disks, CD-ROMs, printers, or modems.  These devices
  258.           can be located on a server or another peer workstation.
  259.                  IBM Peer for OS/2 provides the ability to share local computer
  260.           devices with other users (multiple concurrent users).  A simple
  261.           graphical user interface is provided to locally manage this accessing
  262.           and sharing of resources.  Peer for OS/2 interoperates with any
  263.           SMB-compliant peer or server on a LAN.
  264.                  Additionally, IBM Peer for OS/2 provides network messaging,
  265.           network DDE and clipboard, replication services, logon and logoff
  266.           support, interprocess communications, and an application program
  267.           interface.  IBM Peer for OS/2 does not provide administration of a
  268.           server or another peer workstation across the LAN.
  269.                  IBM Peer for OS/2 supports the same adapters as OS/2 LAN
  270.           Server Requester.
  271.           NETWORK SIGNON COORDINATOR (NSC)
  272.           NSC provides a productivity aid for end users whose environment
  273.           requires multiple user sign-ons to different access control
  274.           functions.  OS/2 User Profile Management (UPM), IBM LAN Server, and
  275.           Resource Access Control Facility (RACF (TM)) are examples of access
  276.           control functions.  NSC refers to these access control functions as
  277.           "locations".  Each location requires you to sign on with an ID and a
  278.           password before allowing access to its resources.  NSC allows you to
  279.           sign on, change passwords, and sign off at one or more locations with
  280.           a single operation.
  281.           ASKPSP
  282.           AskPSP provides answers to problems and questions concerning
  283.           OS/2 Warp, LAN Requester, LAN Distance, and NetWare Client.  It is a
  284.           personal help desk to assist in discovering solutions to problems.
  285.                  Once installed, an AskPSP folder exists on the desktop that
  286.           contains icons for products in OS/2 Warp Connect.  Each product icon
  287.           runs a search tool called CasePoint** and then opens a database of
  288.           common problems and questions relating to the product selected.

  290.           with online publications for viewing and printing.

  300.           connection software.  The BonusPak, a value-packed suite of

  313.           A promotional offering of Lotus Notes Express Client Release 3.3 is
  314.           included in the OS/2 Warp Connect package for a limited time.  Lotus
  315.           Notes Express Client is a client/server mail application, plus a
  316.           collection of communication and collaboration applications easy to
  317.           use and understand.  It also allows the user to take advantage of
  318.           Notes services like security, cross-platform distributed object
  319.           storage, and replication.  When purchased separately, Lotus Notes
  320.           Express offers five basic applications -- E-Mail, discussion
  321.           databases, news and reference databases, and a shared phone book.
  322.           The Lotus Notes Express package included in OS/2 Warp Connect gives
  323.           you a bonus of two additional applications, customer tracking and
  324.           service request tracking.
  325.                  While Express users cannot develop new templates, and they
  326.           cannot use any templates beyond the seven included, they can make
  327.           unlimited copies; hence have numerous applications based on the seven
  328.           in-box templates.  If users need to access additional applications,
  329.           they can easily trade-up to the Lotus Notes Desktop Client package.
  330.           Users who want the full capabilities of Lotus Notes (including the
  331.           ability to develop custom applications) can trade-up to the full
  332.           Lotus Notes Client.

  334.                  OS/2 Warp Connect Version 3 is the mid-range member of the
  335.           OS/2 family.  It is targeted at small business, workgroup, and
  336.           enterprise customers offering peer networking, requesters, remote LAN

  414.           COMPATIBILITY:  The TCP/IP support in OS/2 Warp Connect Version 3
  415.           remains compatible with the existing TCP/IP Version 2.0 for
  416.           OS/2 Kits:  Network File System, Domain Name Server, Extended
  417.           Networking, Programmer's Toolkit, X Window System Server, X Window
  418.           System Client and OSF/Motif kits.  The Network File System, the
  419.           Extended Networking and the X Window System Server Kits found in the
  420.           TCP/IP Version 2.0 for OS/2 Total kit are also supported on OS/2 Warp
  421.           Connect Version 3.
  422.                  The TCP/IP Version 2.0 for OS/2 DOS/Windows Access Kit has
  423.           been included as part of the TCP/IP support in OS/2 Warp Connect
  424.           Version 3.
  425.                  The function found in the TCP/IP Version 2.0 for OS/2 NetBIOS
  426.           Kit is not supported on OS/2 Warp Connect Version 3.  It has been
  427.           replaced by the RFC NetBIOS over TCP/IP function found in LAN Server
  428.           4.0 and in the LAN Requester feature found in OS/2 Warp Connect
  429.           Version 3.
  430.                  The TCP/IP Version 2.0 for OS/2 Application and Ultimedia
  431.           Mail/2 Kits are not supported on OS/2 Warp Connect.  The function
  432.           found in the application kit is included in OS/2 Warp Connect.  The
  433.           Ultimedia Mail/2 kit has been replaced by the IBM Workgroup product.
  434.           Refer to Software Announcement 295-141, dated March 28, 1995.
  435.           LIMITATIONS:  The OS/2 Warp Connect applications in this product are
  436.           supported on OS/2 Warp Version 3 and are not supported on previous
  437.           versions of OS/2.
  438.                  For the remote installation, OS/2 Warp Version 3 must exist on
  439.           the server.
