  14. ABSTRACT         Today, IBM announces changes to the terms, prices, and         
  15.           ordering information for ADSTAR (TM) Distributed Storage Manager/2.   
  16.                  Effective November 1, 1994, ADSTAR Distributed Storage         
  17.           Manager/2 is being converted from the IBM Customer Agreement (ICA),   
  18.           as previously announced in Software Announcement 293-686, dated       
  19.           November 16, 1993, to a version of the IBM Program License Agreement  
  20.           (PLA).  Also, the pricing structure is being simplified.              
  21.                  Existing one-time charge customers will now be licensed under  
  22.           the IBM Program License Agreement.  New one-time charge (OTC)         
  23.           customers will be licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement as 
  24.           announced in Software Announcement 294-665, dated October 11, 1994.   
  25.           Monthly license charge (MLC) customers will now be licensed under a   
  26.           revised IBM Program License Agreement which accommodates recurring    
  27.           charges.  This information is detailed in this Software Announcement.

  75.                  The ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager/2 server will manage    
  76.           500GB of storage.                                                     
  77. ORDERING  ORDERING INFORMATION                                                  
  78.           CURRENT LICENSEES                                                     
  79.           For MES orders for a monthly license charge or for MES orders for an  
  80.           existing one-time charge license, select the appropriate billing      
  81.           feature numbers from the list below.                                  
  82.                  Current licensees with a monthly license charge should         
  83.           transition to the new billing features via an MES for removal of the  
  84.           old feature numbers and addition of the new ones.                     
  85.           NEW LICENSEES:  Orders for new monthly licenses will be accepted on   
  86.           October 25, 1994.                                                     
  87.                  New users of ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager/2 should

  134.           charge, specify the program number, asset registration feature number 
  135.           9001, feature number 2220 for a monthly (recurring) license charge    
  136.           server feature, the feature numbers in the appropriate quantity that  
  137.           correspond to the desired number of backup/archive clients, and the   
  138.           feature number of the desired distribution media shown below.         
  139.                  Specify feature numbers 7228 and 2227 if support for any of

  155.           server, an additional Alternate Client Pak must be ordered under the  
  156.           base license.                                                         
  157.           BASIC MACHINE-READABLE MATERIAL:  Select the feature number of the    
  158.           desired distribution medium.                                          
  159.                  The ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager/2 server code is        
  160.           shipped on 3.5-inch diskette (feature number 5039).  Backup/archive   
  161.           client code is shipped on media as detailed in the table that         
  162.           follows.

  197.           Manager books are offered in displayable online form.  The online     
  198.           books are shipped on CD-ROM SK2T-8714, the ADSTAR Distributed Storage 
  199.           Manager Online Product Library.  Specify feature 7222 for a copy of   
  200.           this CD-ROM at no additional charge.  Additional copies are available 
  201.           for a fee through SLSS.                                               
  202.           TERMS AND CONDITIONS                                                  
  203.           LICENSING:  For monthly license charge customers, the program in this 
  204.           announcement is licensed under the terms and conditions of the        
  205.           revised IBM Program License Agreement which accommodates recurring    
  206.           charges.  Existing one-time charge customers as of October 11, 1994,  
  207.           are licensed under the terms and conditions of the IBM Program        
  208.           License Agreement.                                                    
  209.                  No signature is required.                                      
  210.           DESIGNATED MACHINE IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED:  No                       
  211.           USAGE:  A usage charge applies to ADSTAR Distributed Storage          
  212.           Manager/2.  You must first acquire an ADSM/2 license.  This primary   
  213.           authorization includes authorization to register 10 backup/archive    
  214.           clients to the server.                                                
  215.                  To register more than 10 backup/archive clients to a server,   
  216.           you must purchase additional ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager/2     
  217.           client authorizations.                                                
  218.                  The client authorizations are ordered in conjunction with the  
  219.           primary license but they may be registered on multiple ADSTAR         
  220.           Distribution Storage Manager/2 servers in the enterprise at no        
  221.           additional charge.                                                    
  222.                  The Alternate Client Pak must be ordered once for each server  
  223.           if AIX V3, HP-UX, SunOS/Solaris, SCO UNIX, DEC Ultrix, Macintosh or   
  224.           DBCS clients are registered to that server.                           
  225.                  To increase the number of ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager/2 
  226.           servers, additional licenses must be obtained.                        
  227.                  The customer may make copies of the backup/archive client code 
  228.           in sufficient quantities to support the number of client              
  229.           authorizations acquired for the license.  The customer may make       
  230.           unlimited copies of code supplied for administration of the system    
  231.           from an OS/2 system acting as an administrative client.  There are no 
  232.           charges for the administrative clients.
