  15. ABSTRACT         DataHub (TM) is IBM's strategic control point for database     
  16.           systems management.  The DataHub family provides a set of integrated  
  17.           functions for managing, from a single workstation, local or dispersed 
  18.           IBM relational databases.  These functions significantly simplify the 
  19.           tasks of locating, managing, and distributing data.                   
  20.                  DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2 (DataHub/2) supports the         
  21.           following IBM relational database management systems:                 
  22.           o   DATABASE 2 (TM) AIX/6000 (R) (DB2/6000 (TM)) for the AIX (R)      
  23.               environment                                                       
  24.           o   DATABASE 2 Operating System/2 (R) (DB2/2 (TM)) for the OS/2 (R)   
  25.               environment                                                       
  26.           o   DATABASE 2 Operating System/400 (R) (DB2/400 (TM)) for the OS/400 
  27.               (R) environment                                                   
  28.           o   DATABASE 2 (DB2 (R)) for the MVS/ESA (TM) and MVS/XA (TM)         
  29.               environment                                                       
  30.           o   DATABASE 2 (DB2/VM) for the VM/ESA (R) environment                
  31.                  With DataHub/2, users can perform systems management tasks     
  32.           from an OS/2 control point either locally or remotely.  The DataHub   
  33.           control point provides a consistent user interface across integrated  
  34.           tools and masks the differences between databases allowing database   
  35.           administrators, systems programmers, and help desk personnel to focus 
  36.           on what they are doing rather than on how they are doing it.  From    
  37.           the workstation control point, users can:                             
  38.           o   Browse catalogued database objects and the relationships between  
  39.               the objects                                                       
  40.           o   Copy objects, such as tables and their associated authorizations, 
  41.               between databases                                                 
  42.           o   Backup and recover databases remotely, including workstation      
  43.               databases (new with DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2)                
  44.           o   Manage database authorizations                                    
  45.           o   Display the status of relational units of work                    
  46.           o   Invoke database utilities and tools                               
  47.           o   Automate database management tasks via the DataHub command        
  48.               scheduler or via interoperation with IBM's workflow management    
  49.               product FlowMark (TM) for OS/2 (new with Release 2)

  86. OVERVIEW  DESCRIPTION                                                           
  87.           SUPPORT OF DATABASE 2 AIX/6000                                        
  88.           DataHub/2 and DataHub Support/6000 provide management capability for  
  89.           DATABASE 2 AIX/6000 (DB2/6000 in the AIX environment).  DB2/6000      
  90.           brings to the AIX environment relational database technology that is  
  91.           trusted by the world's largest corporations to store their most       
  92.           valuable business data.  For additional information on DB2/6000 V1    
  93.           and DB2 family of products, refer to Software Announcement 293-586,   
  94.           dated October 12, 1993.                                               
  95.                  From DataHub's workstation control point, users can display    
  96.           DB2/6000 database objects, copy data to and from DB2/6000, remotely   
  97.           backup and recover DB2/6000 databases, manage security for DB2/6000   
  98.           and invoke DB2/6000 utilities and tools.  The administrator may       
  99.           automatically execute a series of database management tasks by        
  100.           interoperating with IBM's workflow management product, IBM FlowMark   
  101.           for OS/2.                                                             
  102.                  DataHub's integration facilities provide DB2/6000 database     
  103.           tool developers with a set of common services to reduce development   
  104.           effort and promote consistency across tools.                          
  105.           IS OPERATIONS PRODUCTIVITY                                            
  106.           Client/server computing, where an application may invoke services or  
  107.           access data on other systems via client/server interfaces, is         
  108.           becoming an important application architecture for new applications.  
  109.           As organizations expand their client/server environment with DB2/6000 
  110.           databases, DataHub lets them add databases without adding database    
  111.           administrators.  Providing a centralized solution for managing        
  112.           decentralized databases, DataHub helps improve productivity by        
  113.           managing more databases with fewer data management professionals.     
  114.                  Providing a single control point across all IBM relational     
  115.           databases, DataHub makes managing geographically dispersed databases

  144.           DataHub's participation in IBM's SystemView framework and Information 
  145.           Warehouse family and its support of SQL and DRDA standards ensure its

  148.           AUTOMATION OF DATABASE MANAGEMENT TASKS                               
  149.           BASIC SCHEDULING OF TASKS:  DataHub/2 provides Timer and Scheduler    
  150.           functions that allow the database administrator to perform basic task 
  151.           scheduling.  The database administrator can create and save a DataHub 
  152.           executable command to a file and execute that command automatically   
  153.           at predesignated times.  This function gives the flexibility of       
  154.           scheduling routine DataHub tasks at specific times, for example, for  
  155.           a database backup every Friday at midnight.                           
  156.           WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT:  DataHub/2 supports IBM FlowMark for OS/2  to    
  157.           help database administrators document their system management tasks   
  158.           and automatically execute these tasks.  IBM FlowMark for              
  159.           OS/2 provides functions for the interactive definition of workflow    
  160.           models, for their testing with graph animation, for automatic         
  161.           execution of the workflow, and for the recording of execution time    
  162.           parameters for future process analysis.  The user interface is easy   
  163.           to use, allowing DataHub executable commands to be dragged from the   
  164.           DataHub window and dropped onto workflow models of IBM FlowMark for   
  165.           OS/2.                                                                 
  166.                  Once the workflow model is created, IBM FlowMark for OS/2 can  
  167.           execute the model in an unattended manner to reduce administrators'   
  168.           involvement in initiating well-defined and routine system management  
  169.           tasks.

  172.           USABILITY AND OTHER ENHANCEMENTS                                      
  173.           A number of enhancements to DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2improve the

  184.               remote installation.  DataHub Support/6000 installation uses      
  185.               installp, which provides similar functionality on the RISC        
  186.               System/6000 (R) workstation.                                      
  187.           o   Interactive Send/Receive for DB2 on MVS                           
  188.                      This DataHub tool builders enhancement makes it easier for 
  189.               tool builders to enable real-time database management tools (such 
  190.               as performance monitors) to the DataHub/2 workstation.

  192.                      DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2 new relational database      
  193.               object definitions extend the types of catalog objects that can   
  194.               be displayed on the DataHub object navigation and selection

  197.                      DataHub/2 now allows for the use of User Profile           
  198.               Management for storing user IDs and passwords.  The same user     
  199.               ID/password is used for Database and Tools Conversation           
  200.               Connectivity.                                                     
  201.           o   Remote Backup and Recovery of workstation databases               
  202.                      Client/server computing, where an application may invoke   
  203.               services or access data on other systems via client/server        
  204.               interfaces, is becoming an important application architecture for 
  205.               customers.  User demands for recovery of critical business data   
  206.               stored in workstation databases is growing rapidly.  In addition  
  207.               to remote backup and recovery of DB2/MVS and DB2/400 tables       
  208.               within the database, DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2 supports       
  209.               remote backup and recovery of the DB2/2 and DB2/6000 workstation  
  210.               databases.  Remote backup and recovery provides for the usage of  
  211.               a single workstation control point for database management tasks  
  212.               across the DB2 family of products and an easy-to-use graphical    
  213.               front-end.

  215.           DATAHUB WITHIN SYSTEMVIEW                                             
  216.           DataHub provides the strategic platform for managing the database     
  217.           resources within the SystemView framework.  The SystemView framework  
  218.           is IBM's comprehensive strategy for delivering enterprise wide        
  219.           systems management solutions.  DataHub supports the key SystemView    
  220.           objectives:  comprehensive coverage, open access, integrated          
  221.           application and services, and automated solution delivery.  DataHub   
  222.           conforms to SystemView Integration Level 1.                           
  223.           COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE:  The DataHub platform, combined with          
  224.           DataHub-enabled tools from IBM and participating software vendors,    
  225.           can support systems management tasks across all SystemView            
  226.           disciplines: business management, change management, configuration    
  227.           management, performance management, problem management, and           
  228.           operations management.                                                
  229.           OPEN ACCESS:  DataHub promotes the integration of database management 
  230.           tools.  It provides a set of tool builder interfaces and services     
  231.           that ease tool integration to DataHub, reduce tool developer effort,

  240.           DataHub-enabled products.  Additionally, DataHub supports IBM and     
  241.           industry standards in delivering a solution that can grow with your   
  242.           enterprise.                                                           
  243.           INTEGRATED APPLICATION AND SERVICES:  DataHub provides architected    
  244.           interfaces to support tool integration to DataHub.  Additionally,     
  245.           DataHub exploits other application interfaces to enhance tool         
  246.           integration.  DataHub's support of IBM FlowMark for OS/2 is such an   
  247.           example.                                                              
  248.           DATAHUB WITHIN INFORMATION WAREHOUSE FAMILY                           
  249.           DataHub provides the cornerstone for Data Replication within the      
  250.           Information Warehouse family.  The Information Warehouse family       
  251.           defines a set of database management systems, interfaces, tools, and  
  252.           facilities that manage and deliver reliable, timely, accurate, and    
  253.           understandable business information to authorized individuals for     
  254.           business decision-making.                                             
  255.                  DataHub implements the following interfaces which are          
  256.           identified for Copy Management in Information Warehouse Architecture  
  257.           I:  Interface to the Object Handler Meta-Data and Tool Invocation to  
  258.           Tool Interface.                                                       
  259.                  The IBM Data Replication solution spans the entire enterprise, 
  260.           from centralized hosts to LAN-connected workstations, providing a     
  261.           unique level of data replication from traditional legacy data sources 
  262.           to today's client/server databases.                                   
  263.                  DataHub provides the administrative point of control for an    
  264.           integrated data replication solution spanning central and distributed 
  265.           environments.  DataHub contains the base function for administration  
  266.           of data replication within and between all of the IBM relational      
  267.           databases.  Administrative function that is unique to products such   
  268.           as DataRefresher (TM) and DataPropagator (TM) Relational, is visually 
  269.           integrated into the DataHub administrative user interface when        
  270.           present on the same workstation.  DataHub's copy data function        
  271.           provides refresh support across all IBM relational databases.

  329.           SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:  The DataHub family of products is             
  330.           configurable based on the environment that is to be managed.  In      
  331.           general, DataHub/2 Platform feature is required with a minimum of one 
  332.           DataHub Support product.                                              
  333.           DATAHUB/2 VERSION 1 RELEASE 2:  Requirements for the DataHub/2        
  334.           workstation control point depend on whether you plan to use           
  335.           stand-alone workstations or establish multiple DataHub/2 workstation  
  336.           control points on a LAN using the DataHub/2 Platform Requester        
  337.           Feature.  The Platform Requester Feature allows you to install and    
  338.           configure DataHub/2 workstations as requesters to a DataHub/2         
  339.           workstation server on a LAN.                                          
  340.                  DataHub/2 can be configured in one of three ways:              
  341.           o   STAND-ALONE WORKSTATION (SINGLE USER)                             
  342.                      A single DataHub/2 workstation control point is connected  
  343.               to the managed database system.  The DataHub/2 stand-alone        
  344.               workstation is ordered as the DataHub/2 Platform feature.         
  345.           o   WORKSTATION SERVER (MULTIPLE USERS)                               
  346.                      A DataHub/2 workstation is installed and configured as a   
  347.               code server to LAN-attached DataHub/2 workstation requesters.     
  348.               The LAN Server product is required.  The DataHub/2 workstation    
  349.

  355.               server is ordered as the DataHub/2 Platform feature.              
  356.           o   WORKSTATION REQUESTER (CLIENTS)                                   
  357.                      A lower-cost feature provides a fully functional DataHub/2 
  358.               workstation when connected to a workstation server.  The          
  359.               Workstation Requester accesses DataHub/2 code at the DataHub/2    
  360.               workstation server but executes it locally.  LAN Requester        
  361.               Distributed Feature must be installed on the DataHub/2 Requester  
  362.               workstation.  The workstation requester is ordered as the         
  363.               DataHub/2 Platform Requester feature.                             
  364.           REQUIREMENTS FOR STAND-ALONE, SERVER, AND REQUESTER:  The following   
  365.           products are minimum requirements for installing a DataHub/2          
  366.           workstation stand-alone, or as a server or requester.  These are the  
  367.           minimal requirements.                                                 
  368.           o   DataHub/2 Version 1 Release 2 Platform Base (5667-134)            
  369.           o   OS/2 Version 2.1, or later                                        
  370.           o   CM/2 Version 1.1, or later                                        
  371.                  To operate with DataHub Support products for DB2/MVS, DB2/400, 
  372.           and DB2/VM, DDCS/2 Version 2 Release 2, or later, is required, as     
  373.           follows:                                                              
  374.           o   DDCS/2 Multi-User Gateway Version 2, or later, if the workstation 
  375.               is to be the gateway to the managed SNA database systems          
  376.                    or                                                           
  377.           o   DDCS/2 Single-User Version 2, or later, if the workstation does   
  378.               not serve as a gateway for other workstations on the LAN          
  379.                  DDCS/2 is not required if there are no managed SNA database    
  380.           systems.                                                              
  381.                  DDCS/2 may be located anywhere on the LAN.                     
  382.           STAND-ALONE ONLY:  DB2/2 Single-User Version 1.1, or later, or DB2/2  
  383.           Multi-User Version 1.1, or later.                                     
  384.           SERVER:  When a DataHub/2 installation must support one or more       
  385.           DataHub/2 requesters, the installation is referred to as a server     
  386.           installation.  If you are installing a DataHub/2 workstation server,  
  387.           you need the following in addition to the minimum requirements:       
  388.           o   LAN Server (Entry) Version 3.0, or later                          
  389.           o   DB2/2 Client/Server Version 1, or later, if the following         
  390.               conditions apply:                                                 
  391.               -   If this database will be a server for the DataHub Requester   
  392.                   Feature                                                       
  393.               -   If this workstation is where the DDCS/2 Multi-User product    
  394.                   will be installed                                             
  395.               -   If this database is an OS/2 managed database system           
  396.                      Otherwise, DB2/2 Single-User Version 1, or later, is       
  397.               required.                                                         
  398.           REQUESTER ONLY:  For the DataHub/2 workstation requester, the         
  399.           following is required:                                                
  400.           o   A DataHub/2 workstation server installed                          
  401.           o   DB2/2 Single-User Version 1.1 or DB2/2 Client/Server Version 1.1  
  402.               if DDCS/2 Multi-User is either installed on the requester         
  403.               workstation or if the requester workstation's DB2/2 database is   
  404.               to be accessed by other workstations                              
  405.           o   The requester-related features of the following products are      
  406.               required:

  482.                  DataHub preserves the integrity of the host (MVS, VM, OS/400,

  1057.           ONE-TIME CHARGE:  Customers who pay an OTC for a licensed program     
  1058.           receive enhancements and future releases, if any, at no additional    
  1059.           charge.  Significant new function may be offered as an optional       
  1060.           feature and charged for separately.  If a replacement program is      
  1061.           announced and the customer elects to license the replacement program  
  1062.           for an OTC and replace the prior program, an upgrade charge may       
  1063.           apply.                                                                
  1064.           DISTRIBUTED FEATURE ONE-TIME CHARGE:  Customers who pay an OTC for    
  1065.           additional distributed features may copy machine-readable readable    
  1066.           program material and documentation.  One copy may be made for each    
  1067.           additional distributed feature ordered.                               
  1068.           VARIABLE CHARGES:  The applicable graduated or processor-based charge 
  1069.           will be based on the group of the designated machine on which the     
  1070.           licensed program is licensed for use.  If the program is designated   
  1071.           to a processor in a group for which no charge is listed above, the    
  1072.           charge of the next higher group listed applies.                       
  1073.                  For upgrades of one-time charge licenses to a machine in a     
  1074.           higher group, the upgrade charge will be the difference in the then   
  1075.           current charges between the two groups.  For downgrades of one-time   
  1076.           charge licenses to a machine in a lower group, there will be no       
  1077.           adjustment or refund of one-time charges paid.                        
  1078.                  For upgrades or downgrades of monthly license charge licenses, 
  1079.           the monthly license charge applicable to the higher or lower group    
  1080.           will apply.
