ABSTRACT IBM CallPath SwitchServer (TM)/2 (TM) (SS/2) Version 1.2.02
provides additional connectivity options and incorporates several new
switch enhancement features. SwitchServer/2 (TM) Version 1.2.02 can
be remotely attached to the newly announced CallPath (R) Server
products thereby allowing users to operate in a client-server
environment.
SwitchServer/2 is enhanced to support the following switches:
o AT&T Generic 3i**, Generic 3r** and Generic 3s**, G3V2 CallVisor
ASAI switch software including the following new features:
- International Address Type for ISDN Calls
- Redirection on No Answer (RONA)
- Converse Vector Command
- Expert Agent Selection (EASe)
o AT&T Generic 3i, Generic 3r and Generic 3s, G3V3 CallVisor ASAI
switch software including the following new features:
- User to User Information
- Answering Machine Detection
o Northern Telecom Meridian 1** Release 19 switch software and
Meridian Link Release 4 software including the following
features:
- Host Enhanced Routing
- Call Tracking Capability
o ROLM 9751** Computerized Branch Exchange (CBX**) Release 9006.2i
Switch Software including the following features:
- Host Based Routing
- Increased link interface to 19.2 BPS

OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 has a unique role in establishing or
enhancing integrated telephone and data-processing capabilities. It
provides the connectivity between telephone systems and
data-processing systems. When combined with CallPath Server/2, AIX
CallPath Server 6000, CallPath/2 (TM), CallPath/6000 (TM), CallPath
CICS (TM), CallPath/400 (TM) and CallPath Call Coordinator/2 (TM),
CallPath Call Coordinator (TM)/CICS or CallCoordinator for Windows
(1) and the user's business application, telephone call center
activity may be further automated and streamlined, saving agent time,
improving customer service, and providing a means to create
competitive advantage business services.
SwitchServer/2 provides an interface to multiple IBM
computers, reducing network costs and simplifying the
computer-telephone system networks.
NOTE: For additional information on CallPath/400 Version 3 Release 1
and supported telephone switches, refer to the CallPath/400 Version 3
Release 1 announcement (294-247, dated May 3, 1994). Also, IBM

SwitchServer/2 is enhanced to support AT&T DEFINITY Generic 3i
(G3i), Generic 3r (G3r) and Generic 3s (G3s) G3V2 and G3V3 CallVisor
ASAI switch software including the Expert Agent Selection (EASe)
feature.
The support for this switch is provided by the following IBM

IBM is also announcing support of Northern Telecom Meridian 1
Communications System Release 19 switch software and Meridian Link
Release 4 software.
NOTE: The new SL1 SwitchServer/2 software being announced (feature
code 5875) is only required when Meridian Link 4 is used with
Release 19 switch software. SwitchServer/2 (feature code 5815) will
still work when Meridian Link 3 is used with Release 19.

SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: The following is the recommended
configurations for CallPath SwitchServer/2; however, customer
requirements may dictate that configurations other than those stated
here are applicable:
o IBM Personal System/2 (R) (PS/2 (R)) based on Microchannel
Architecture (MCA)
- 386 CPU at 20 MHZ or higher
- Minimum 16 megabytes (16MB) random access memory (RAM)
- Minimum 100MB fixed disk
- An OS/2 (R) compatible pointing device such as a mouse
- One slot or more for Switch Connection
- One slot for Host Connection if required
o Communications Requirements
- For AT&T DEFINITY G3i, G3r, and G3s

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
o IBM OS/2 Version 2.1 (PN 61G0900) operating system, prerequisite
for IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 Version 1.2.02.
o IBM CM/2 Version 1.1 (PN 79G0258) - Prerequisite.
o LAN Adapter and Protocol Support (LAPS) (optional). This is
required if SS/2 needs to communicate with CallPath hosts over
either Token Ring or Ethernet LAN. LAPS is included in the IBM
CM/2 Version 1.1 software.
o In addition to the SwitchServer/2 specific requirements, the
customer must have the current version of CallPath CICS/MVS,
CallPath/2, CallPath DOS for Windows, CallPath/400,
CallPath/6000, CallPath Server/2 or AIX CallPath Server/6000.
PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: The busy hour call volumes, call types,
and number of host attachments place different performance
requirements on SwitchServer/2. The model of PS/2 and memory and
disk space requirements should be verified for each customer
configuration.

CURRENT LICENSEES
Current licensees will automatically receive a memorandum and a
program reorder form (PRF) from IBM. Updated program material is
sent to the licensees when the PRF is returned to IBM and processed.

Subscription Service (SLSS), or by direct order.
Subsequent updates (technical newsletters or revisions between

software remains in effect. A separate publication order or
subscription is not needed.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The terms for IBM SwitchServer/2, as previously announced
(Software Announcements 291-520 and 293-505), licensed under the IBM
Customer Agreement, are unaffected by this announcement.
CHARGES
Charges are unaffected by this announcement.
ONE-TIME CHARGE: Customers who pay a one-time charge for a licensed
program receive enhancements and future releases, if any, at no
additional charge. Significant new function may be offered as an
optional feature and charged for separately. If a replacement
program is announced and the customer elects to license the
replacement program for a one-time charge and replace the prior
program, an upgrade charge may apply.
