  44. OVERVIEW   DESCRIPTION
  45.            END-USER PRODUCTIVITY
  46.            MAGNIFICATION OF DATA DISPLAYED ON THE OS/2 DESKTOP:  Screen
  47.            Magnifier/2 enables visually impaired users to access the OS/2
  48.            graphical user interface (GUI).  Screen Magnifier/2 magnifies text,
  49.            graphics, and images displayed on the OS/2 Desktop from 2 to 32 times
  50.            the normal size.  Users can temporarily turn off magnification.
  51.            COMPATIBILITY WITH SCREEN READER/2:  Users who require audio
  52.            reinforcement can use Screen Magnifier/2 with Screen Reader/2.
  53.            Screen Magnifier/2 positions the mouse pointer at the word (magnified
  54.            view) currently being read by Screen Reader/2.
  55.            FOCUS TRACKING:  OS/2 uses multiple windows to display information.
  56.            Users may switch from one window to another, activate a pull-down
  57.            menu, or receive an error message.  Since these occurrences cause a
  58.            shift in focus, Screen Magnifier/2 tracks the focus of activity to
  59.            ensure that the magnified view is always current.
  60.            TEXT-READING FUNCTION:  Screen Magnifier/2 provides an automatic
  61.            text-reading function.  As the cursor automatically moves across each
  62.            line of text, users can adjust the rate of movement at any time.
  63.            Users can also temporarily pause the reading function with a single
  64.            key stroke.
  65.            REVERSE VIDEO:  Visually impaired users are sometimes sensitive to
  66.            different colors.  Screen Magnifier/2 allows users to reverse screen
  67.            colors.  This provides greater contrast, accommodating a large number
  68.            of users.
  69.            DITHERED COLOR PATTERNS:  When dithered areas of the screen are
  70.            magnified, the individual colors that make up the dithered color
  71.            pattern become clearly visible.  This is usually an unwanted
  72.            distraction.  Screen Magnifier/2 allows the user to enable or disable
  73.            the magnified dithered color patterns.
  74.            WINDOW POSITION:  When an area is highly magnified, users can easily
  75.            lose track of the position of the current window.  Screen Magnifier/2
  76.            enables users to check the position of the current magnified view in
  77.            relation to the entire desktop.

  79.            Screen Magnifier/2 can assist employers in complying with the
  80.            Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  Additionally, Screen
  81.            Magnifier/2 often allows visually impaired employees to use the same
  82.            software applications as employees without vision impairments.

  85.            standard off-the-shelf software applications.
