  4. ABSTRACT          IBM Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2 is a LAN-based,
  5.            bi-directional calendar connectivity program.  This System
  6.            Application Architecture (SAA (R)) OS/2 (R) 32-bit program allows
  7.            users of the IBM Time and Place/2 V2 time management product, as well
  8.            as OfficeVision/VM (TM) Version 1.2 OfficeVision/MVS (TM)
  9.            Version 1.2, and PROFS (R) Version 2.2.3 users to perform
  10.            interactive, bi-directional view, free-time search, and calendar
  11.            update operations in the LAN, OfficeVision/VM, PROFS and
  12.            OfficeVision/MVS environments.
  13.                   Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2 provides the ability
  14.            to connect the Time and Place/2, OfficeVision/VM, OfficeVision/MVS,
  15.            and PROFS calendars in an "any-to-any" fashion.  For example, by
  16.            installing and configuring Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2,
  17.            calendar interoperability occurs as follows:
  18.            o   A Time and Place/2 user can interact with the calendars of
  19.                OfficeVision/VM, PROFS and OfficeVision/MVS calendar users.
  20.            o   A PROFS or OfficeVision/VM user can interact with the calendars
  21.                of Time and Place/2 and OfficeVision/MVS calendar users.
  22.            o   An OfficeVision/MVS user can interact with the calendars of Time
  23.                and Place/2, PROFS and OfficeVision/VM calendar users.
  24.                   In each case, calendar users see remote calendar information
  25.            in the user interface they are accustomed to.
  26.                   Additional Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2
  27.            enhancements include:
  28.            o   APPC and RSCS connectivity to the OfficeVision/VM host calendar
  29.                environment, plus RSCS connectivity to the PROFS host calendar
  30.                environment.
  31.            o   Support to connect remote Time and Place/2 Version 2 systems
  32.                using APPC over an SNA network.
  33.            o   Capability to connect the DBCS version of Time and Place/2 to the
  34.                OfficeVision/VM-ALS calendar system (Japanese only).

  66.                compatible system with a 33MHz processor, or later, and 16MB
  67.                memory supported by OS/2 2.0 or 2.1

  81.            installed on the same server as the Time and Place/2 Version 2 master
  82.            or data server, the recommended installation procedure is to install
  83.            the connectivity server on a dedicated Time and Place/2 Version 2
  84.            data server.
  85.            o   IBM OS/2 2.0, plus Service Pac (XR06055) or OS/2 2.1
  86.            o   IBM Communications Manager/2 Version 1, or later

  88.            NOTE: The machine that Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2
  89.            resides on must contain a Time and Place/2 Version 2 server, if used

  93.                with the PTF appropriate for APAR PN39189 to provide Meeting

  106.            APAR GC03390 must be installed for cross-nodal calendar access in

  116.            LIMITATIONS:  Time and Place/2 Version 1 clients are supported by
  117.            Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1.2 at Time and Place
  118.            Connectivity/2 Version 1.1 level of function.
  119.            EXTERNAL INTERFACES:  The external interfaces between the Time and
  120.            Place Connectivity/2 and the three products, Time and Place/2,
  121.            OfficeVision/VM, and OfficeVision/MVS, are available from IBM upon
  122.            written request.
  123.            PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS:  Performance of Time and Place
  124.            Connectivity/2 Version 1.2 is affected by many factors.  These
  125.            include:
  126.            o   Speed of the server workstations
  127.            o   Amount of RAM installed
  128.            o   Location of the connectivity server on a dedicated machine or
  129.                installed with the Time and Place/2 Version 2 master/data server
  130.                that holds the actual client calendar data
  131.            o   Number and speed of the Time and Place/2 Version 2 servers
  132.                (master/data) and OfficeVision/VM Version 1.2 calendar machines
  133.                to which the connectivity server provides access
  134.            o   Number and patterns of requests from the clients to the Time and
  135.                Place/2 Version 2 master/data servers and to the connectivity
  136.                server
  137.            o   Number and patterns of requests to the connectivity server from
  138.                remote host OV/VM, PROFS and OfficeVision/MVS  calendar users.

  153.                   User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and
  154.            implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and
  155.            appropriate controls in application systems and communication
  156.            facilities.

  158.            CURRENT LICENSEES
  159.            Current licensees of IBM Time and Place Connectivity/2 will receive
  160.            this update from IBM Software Distribution (ISMD) automatically.
  161.            Shipment of Release 2 is scheduled to be completed by April 8, 1994.
  162.            NEW LICENSEES
  163.            Orders for new licenses will be accepted now.
  164.                   Unless a later date is specified, orders entered prior to
  165.            March 25, 1994, will be assigned a schedule date of March 25, 1994.
  166.            BASIC LICENSE:  To order a basic license, specify the program number
  167.            and feature number 9001 for asset registration.  Specify feature
  168.            number 4017 for a one-time charge.  Specify feature number 5885 for
  169.            the U.S. English version on 3.5 inch diskettes.  Specify the feature
  170.            number of the desired distribution medium shown below.

  214.            Version 1 Release 2 manuals are offered in displayable softcopy form.
  215.            All unlicensed manuals are included.  The displayable manuals are
  216.            part of the basic machine-readable material.  The files are shipped
  217.            on the same media type as the basic machine-readable material.
  218.                   Subsequent updates (technical newsletters or revisions between
  219.            releases) to the publications shipped with the product will be
  220.            distributed to the user of record for as long as a license for this
  221.            software remains in effect.  A separate publication order or
  222.            subscription is not needed.
  223.            TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  224.                   The terms for IBM Time and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1
  225.            Release 2, as previously announced in Software Announcement 293-571,
  226.            dated October 5, 1993, licensed under the IBM Customer Agreement
  227.            (ICA), are unaffected by this announcement, except for Program
  228.            Currency.
  229.            PROGRAM CURRENCY:  Program services previously announced for IBM Time
  230.            and Place Connectivity/2 Version 1 Release 1, and any modification
  231.            levels, will be available until September 30, 1994.
