ABSTRACT Would you like to gain control over your group scheduling,
"to-do's" and memos?
IBM Time and Place/2 Version 2.0, an OS/2 (R) 2.0 or 2.1
LAN-based time management program, can help you coordinate and
schedule activities.
Time and Place/2 is differentiated by its group scheduling
functions and its capability (when used with Time and Place
Connectivity/2 Version 1.2) to interoperate and exchange data with
OfficeVision/VM (TM), PROFS (R) or OfficeVision/MVS (TM). Host and
LAN users can view each other's calendars in native format,
eliminating the need to retrain or to be aware of the location of
other systems.
In addition to Time and Place/2 Version 1 functions, Time and
Place/2 Version 2 provides the following enhancements:
o Novell** NetWare** IPX support*:
o DOS client
o TCP/IP support
o Directory synchronization with Lotus Notes** and cc:Mail**
o Disconnected user
o Dial-in support
o Simple calendaring interface APIs

As previously announced in Software Announcement 293-568, dated
October 5, 1993, IBM intends to provide support for Apple Macintosh
clients in Time and Place/2.

TECHINFO TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
TIME AND PLACE/2 SERVER
The Time and Place/2 server will run on any PS/2 (R) or
compatible system supported by OS/2 2.0 (with Service Pak
Level XR06055) or OS/2 2.1. The minimum system includes:
o 20MHz 80386DX.
o 5.5MB RAM in addition to the memory needed for software
prerequisites. This supports the default number of five agents.
Add 1.0MB RAM for each additional agent.
o 3.6MB fixed disk space for one MASTER and one DATA SERVER in
addition to the space for software prerequisites and the data for
the database.
NOTE: This does not include the following optional server
components:
- Administration Utility 0.7MB
- Directory Synchronization Utility 0.8MB
- Calendaring and Scheduling Interface (CSI) Toolkit for OS/2
0.2MB
- Calendaring and Scheduling Interface (CSI) Toolkit for
Windows 0.2MB.
These components can be installed on the server machine or
on a different LAN-attached machine.
o VGA display and adapter.

o Mouse.
o One 1.44MB 3.5-inch diskette drive.
TIME AND PLACE/2 CLIENTS
Time and Place/2 OS/2 clients will run on any PS/2 or
compatible system supported by OS/2 2.0 (with Service Pak
Level XR06055) or OS/2 2.1. Time and Place/2 Windows clients will
run on any PS/2 or compatible system supported by DOS 3.3, or later,
and Windows 3.1. Time and Place/2 DOS clients will run on any PS/2
or compatible system supported by DOS 3.3, or later.
The minimum system for OS/2 clients includes:
o 16MHz 80386SX
o 2.5MB RAM (in addition to the memory needed for software
prerequisites)
o 4.0MB fixed disk space for the required user interface and
communications components, in addition to the space needed for
software prerequisites (Note: As an option, the user may install
the recommended Workplace Shell (R) Support component (0.3MB))
o VGA display and adapter
o LAN adapter, or modem used with IBM LAN Distance (IBM LAN
Distance allows remote users to dial-in to a LAN.)
o Mouse.
The minimum system for Windows clients includes:
o 10MHz 80286
o 1MB RAM (in addition to the memory needed for software
prerequisites)
o 1.5MB hard disk space in addition to the space needed for
software prerequisites
o VGA display and adapter
o LAN adapter
o Mouse.
The minimum system for DOS clients includes:
o 10MHz 80286
o 640KB RAM
o 1MB fixed disk space in addition to the space needed for software
prerequisites

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
Time and Place/2 server requires:
o OS/2 2.0 (with Service Pak Level XR06055) or OS/2 2.1
o IBM Extended Services (TM) with Database Server for OS/2, or
DATABASE 2 (TM) OS/2 (DB2/2 (TM))
o NetBIOS, TCP/IP or IPX
If Novell NetWare is used, Novell NetWare Requester for
OS/2 2.x is required on the Time and Place/2 server and Novell
NetWare 3.1x or 4.0 is required on the network server.
NOTE: Any combination of these communication protocols may be
installed on the Time and Place/2 server. For instance, if IBM
NetBIOS, TCP/IP and IPX are installed, the server can communicate
with clients that use any of these protocols. All master and data
servers should use the same set of communication protocols.
Time and Place/2 OS/2 client requires:
o OS/2 2.0 (with Service Pak Level XR06055) or OS/2 2.1
o NetBIOS, TCP/IP or IPX
Time and Place/2 Windows client requires:
o DOS 3.3, or later (DOS 5.0, or later, recommended)

o Additional License Copies -- authorization for the customer who
has a program package to make a single copy of the program
diskette and documentation. There are two ways to receive
authorization to copy. Receipt of the invoice authorizes the
customer to make the Additional License Copy (the ICA must be in
effect). The customer also has the option of ordering a Proof of
Additional License certificate (the ICA is not required).
o Distributed Feature Copies -- authorization for the customer who
has a program package to make a single copy of the portion of the
program identified as the distributed feature and the printed
documentation. There are two ways to receive authorization to

program diskette and documentation. Receipt of the invoice
authorizes the customer to make the Additional License Copy
upgrade (the ICA must be in effect). The customer also has the
option of ordering a Proof of Additional License Upgrade

of the portion of the program identified as the distributed

Proof of License for distributed feature certificate (the ICA is

IBM EDUCATION FULFILLMENT CENTER: The announced program is eligible
to be ordered through the IBM Education Fulfillment Center.
Availability through the IBM Education Fulfillment Center may not
coincide with the programming availability dates in other sections of
this document.
The IBM Education Fulfillment Center is the order processing
location for selected personal computers and related
hardware/software for eligible education end users.
PROGRAM UPGRADE
The program package upgrade option allows currently licensed
users of IBM Time and Place/2 Version 1.0 (53G3889) to obtain the new
function for a program upgrade charge. The program upgrade to IBM
Time and Place/2 Version 2.0 is available for no charge from
March 22, 1994, until September 30, 1994. (Refer to Marketing
Announcement 394-058, dated March 22, 1994, for details.)
Orders will be accepted immediately. These upgrades will be
available through IBM Authorized Personal Computer Dealers and
Industry Remarketers -- Personal Computers certified to market IBM
Authorized Advanced Products. The remarketer will require a Proof of
License for each upgrade ordered. The original Proof of License is
the colored front cover page of the Installation/Administration
manual.
Customers may also order upgrades through the local IBM office
using the IBM Personal Computer/System Program IBM US Upgrade and
Certification Order Form.
The customer certifies that the total quantity of the IBM
Personal Computer Program Package Upgrades, Additional License
Upgrades, and distributed feature upgrades indicated below does not
exceed the quantity of licenses for the program being upgraded that
the customer has obtained from US Marketing and Services and that are
currently licensed by the customer. Further, the customer certifies
that the total quantity of this upgrade ordered by the customer by
all procedures will not exceed the total quantity of licenses to the
program being updated that have been obtained from all sources and
are currently licensed by the customer. Documentation to
substantiate the quantity of licenses obtained will be available for
inspection by IBM for a period of six months following the date of
the upgrade order.
For each copy of the program or distributed feature being
upgraded, original materials that are replaced by the upgrade and all
copies of these materials will be destroyed within 30 days of the
receipt of the upgrade. The provisions of the IBM Program License
Agreement will be applicable to the licensed program upgrade
received.
This upgrade is offered only for licenses granted in the
United States and/or Puerto Rico.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
LICENSING: The program in this announcement is licensed under the
terms and conditions of the IBM Program License Agreement. A copy of
the agreement is included in the program package.
ADDITIONAL LICENSE: The IBM Customer Agreement (ICA) must be in
effect, or Proof of Additional License certificate must be acquired.
DISTRIBUTED FEATURES: The ICA must be in effect, or Proof of License
for Distributed Features certificate must be acquired.
LIMITED WARRANTY:
o Program: Yes. Media: Three months.
o Additional Licenses: Yes. Media: Not applicable.
o Distributed Features: Yes. Media: Not applicable.
PROGRAM SERVICES: Central Service, including the IBM Support Center,
will be available until March 31, 1996. The program in this
announcement is supported by the IBM Software Solutions Westlake
Product Service Operations. Access to this support center is through
the IBM Support Center. The statement of service included in the
program package describes this service.
VOLUME ORDERS: The additional licenses and distributed features
included in this announcement are eligible for volume discounting
under the terms of the ICA and the exhibit for Volume Additional
License Usage. These programs are included in Categories B and D
under 5872-AA2 and 5877-AA4.
For Information regarding other volume orders, contact your
IBM representative.
TESTING PERIOD: Two months for program packages.
The ICA must be in effect.
NATIONAL EDUCATION LICENSE FEE: A National Education License Fee
(NELF) is available under the terms and conditions of the Education
Allowance Attachment. The NELF, which represents a 30% discount off
the single unit price, is not subject to any further discount or
allowance.
