  7. ABSTRACT          FaxRouter/2 provides the capability to send, receive, display,
  8.            archive and print facsimiles from the user's OS/2 (R) Token-Ring
  9.            workstation.  Facsimiles can be automatically routed to all users by
  10.            the use of a routing code via touch tone phone or an optical mark
  11.            recognition (OMR) sheet.  All required hardware is contained within
  12.            the FaxRouter/2 server, thus eliminating the need for additional
  13.            hardware at the user's workstation.  FaxRouter/2 communicates with
  14.            Group 3 industry standard facsimile machines.
  15.                   FaxRouter/2 1.2 implements a multi-server environment.  Now
  16.            volumes of facsimiles can be handled more efficiently.  In addition,
  17.            a new feature is being announced.  Now FaxRouter/2 can interface to
  18.            ImagePlus (R).
  19.                   FaxRouter/2 is no longer eligible for volume discounting under
  20.            the Personal Computer/System Programs Exhibit nor eligible to receive
  21.            National Education License Fee discounts.

  29.            IN BRIEF . . .
  30.                   FaxRouter/2 Version 1.2.0 provides a fast and convenient way
  31.            to manage and control the facsimile process.
  32.            o   Can support a multiple server environment.  Virtually every
  33.                in-coming call should not receive a busy signal.  The software
  34.                restriction is eight IBM FaxConcentrator (TM) Adapters per
  35.                server.
  36.            o   Supports a deferred Send function to allow you to send facsimiles
  37.                when telephone lines are not as busy or when rates are lower.
  38.            o   Establishes ownership of the received facsimile when the
  39.                facsimile is registered.  If the facsimile is sent with a routing
  40.                code this registration process is done automatically.
  41.            o   Maintains a facsimile log (ownership, time sent or received,
  42.                etc.)  of all facsimile activity.
  43.            o   Queues Send operations if all telephone line are busy until they
  44.                are available.
  45.            o   Can send a facsimile to an individual recipient or to a group of

  50. OVERVIEW   DESCRIPTION
  51.                   FaxRouter/2 1.2 provides the following new functions:
  52.            o   Maintains separate logs (Send and Receive) which contains status
  53.                (ownership, time sent or received, etc.) of all facsimile
  54.                activity.
  55.            o   Supports the PRINTSAV and PRINTDEL functions for received
  56.                facsimiles.
  57.            o   Supports a Print Device driver.
  58.            o   Supports a Deferred Send function to allow facsimiles to be sent
  59.                when telephone lines aren't as busy or when rates are lower.
  60.            o   Supports a main window tool bar for the most frequently used
  61.                FaxRouter/2 functions.
  62.            o   Provides a notebook facility to store commonly used phone numbers
  63.                and addresses(send-to information).
  64.            o   Can send a facsimile to an individual recipient or to a group of
  65.                recipients.
  66.            o   Supports an OS/2 command line Send.  Typing FAX filename.ext on a
  67.                command line opens the FaxRouter/2 Send window with the filename
  68.                placed in the File Name field.
  69.            o   Supports an OS/2 Drag and Drop Send.  You may use your mouse to
  70.                drag a file name from a supported listing of files and drop it on
  71.                the FaxRouter/2 main window or the main window icon.  This opens
  72.                a FaxRouter/2 Send window with the filename placed in the
  73.                listbox.
  74.            o   Supports a Zoom function for a marked area of the display window.
  75.                This expands the marked area.
  76.            o   Provides a crosshair mouse pointer for marking the overview or
  77.                display window.
  78.            o   Can save a marked area of a facsimile as a:
  79.                                     1.Bitmap (.BMP) file
  80.                                     2.PC Paint (.PCX) file
  81.                                     3.Tagged Image (.TIF) file.
  82.            o   Can copy a marked area of a facsimile to the OS/2 clipboard as a
  83.                bitmap.
  84.            o   Utilize the OS/2 2.x 32-bit architecture
  85.            o   Send multiple facsimiles (documents/files) to the same facsimile
  86.                machine or to other FaxRouter/2 server(s) using the multi-select
  87.                feature in the list of received facsimiles.
  88.            o   Use the "drag and drop" feature from within FaxRouter/2 to
  89.                quickly send, register, display, print, save, and delete
  90.                facsimiles from the list of received facsimiles.
  91.            o   Drag and Drop from any OS/2 application to send documents/files
  92.                via the FaxRouter/2 Send group.
  93.            o   Create user work groups so that facsimiles can be registered to
  94.                and viewed by all members of the group.
  95.            o   Customize or disable cover sheets to be sent with your
  96.                facsimiles.
  97.            o   View separate send and receive logs to verify status of
  98.                facsimiles.
  99.            o   Prioritize the sending of facsimiles.
  100.            o   Select different viewing resolutions.
  101.            o   Set facsimile send retry intervals.
  102.                   In addition, there is a new feature, ImagePlus Integration of
  103.            FaxRouter/2 with ImagePlus on the MVS/ESA (TM) platform.

  105.            o   Allows faxing up to 20 documents per request.
  106.            o   Allows for document parsing.
  107.            o   Supports computer generated (PTOCA) objects with form overlays.
  108.            o   Supports multiple page sizes.
  109.            o   Supports page selection, search, and retrieval.
  110.            o   Provides flexible indexing functionality.
  111.            o   Provides CICS (TM) FAX APIs for custom front-ends.
  112.            o   Provides store to host function.
  113.            BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
  114.            FaxRouter/2 provides a business solution for customers who have grown
  115.            to depend on the technology of a fax machine.  FaxRouter/2 enables
  116.            you to send, receive, view, print and archive facsimiles right from
  117.            your workstation.  FaxRouter/2 alleviates many of the time-consuming
  118.            processes performed when using a conventional facsimile machine.  For
  119.            example, a user would have to print a document, walk to the fax
  120.            machine, often stand in line, return to his or her workstation, then
  121.            return to the fax machine to see if the document has been
  122.            transmitted.  A conventional fax machine user may also have to take
  123.            several trips to the fax machine to see if the document had been
  124.            received.  FaxRouter/2 allows you to set up a more efficient
  125.            facsimile business process by allowing you to reduce the amount of
  126.            time spent transferring data.  FaxRouter/2's new release continues to
  127.            save the end user time and money.  FaxRouter/2 1.2 allows the user to
  128.            prioritize the outgoing facsimiles so that urgent facsimiles can
  129.            receive prompt attention.  Costs can be reduced by batching
  130.            facsimiles with the same destination, hence making one phone call.
  131.            FaxRouter/2 Version 1.2 has reduced the restrictions on the file
  132.            format.  TIFF, PCX and BMP files are now accepted making facsimile
  133.            editing much easier.  Scanned images are accepted into FaxRouter/2 as
  134.            well.  Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) have been written to
  135.            give the application the flexibility to grow with the end user's
  136.            needs, that is, ImagePlus and Notification.
  137.                   FaxRouter/2 is fully compliant with Systems Application
  138.            Architecture (R) (SAA (TM)).

  194.            1.2.0 USER'S GUIDE AND ADMINISTRATOR'S GUIDE
  195.            SECURITY, AUDITABILITY AND CONTROL
  196.                   FaxRouter/2 uses the security and auditability features of the
  197.            OS/2 workstation and local area network.
  198.                   User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and
  199.            implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and
  200.            appropriate controls in application systems and communication
  201.            facilities.
  202. ORDERING   ORDERING INFORMATION
  203.            CURRENT LICENSES
  204.            Current licensees of FaxRouter/2 will be sent a program reorder form
  205.            which may be returned directly to IBM Software Manufacturing Company.
  206.            The mailing of these reorder forms is scheduled to be completed by
  207.            October 8, 1993.  Reorder forms returned to IBM Software
  208.            Manufacturing Company will be processed within ten work days of
  209.            receipt.
  210.            NEW LICENSES:  Orders for new licenses will be accepted now.
  211.                   Unless a later date is specified, orders entered prior to the
  212.            planned availability date will be assigned a schedule date of
  213.            October 1, 1993.  Shipment of orders will commence on the
  214.            availability date.  Orders entered after the planned availability
  215.            date will be scheduled for shipment on the Friday following the week
  216.            of order entry or as soon thereafter as supply permits.

  237.            LICENSING:  The program in this announcement is licensed under the
  238.            terms and conditions of the IBM Program License Agreement.  A copy of
  239.            the agreement is included in the program package.  The IBM
  240.            FaxRouter/2 Program Product consists of two components.  The first
  241.            component operates in the Server.  The second component of
  242.            FaxRouter/2 is required to be resident and can be downloaded to the
  243.            clients that are attached to the local area network.
  244.            LIMITED WARRANTY:  Program:  Yes.  Media:  Three months.
  245.            PROGRAM SERVICES:  Central service, will be available until
  246.            May 1, 1996 or until discontinued by IBM upon six months' written
  247.            notice, whichever is earlier.  Programs in this announcement are
