TITLE IBM CALLPATH SWITCHSERVER/2 VERSION 1 RELEASE 2
ABSTRACT IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 (TM) (SS/2) provides connectivity
between telephone systems and data processing systems. By automating
and streamlining telephone call center activity, SS/2 can improve
customer service by saving agent time and reduce network cost by
simplifying the computer-telephone system networks.
IBM SS/2 is enhanced to provide support of the following:
o American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T (1)) 5ESS (1) Central
Office (CO) System.
o ROLM 9751 (2) Computerized Branch Exchange (CBX (2))
Release 9006i switch software.
o Northern Telecom Meridian (3) 1 Communications System Release 18
switch software and Meridian Link Release 3 software. The
SwitchServer/2 now supports the Invoke Feature program call in
Meridian Link Release 3 software. This is in addition to support
of Release 16 and 17 switch software and Meridian Link Release 2
software.
o AT&T DEFINITY Generic 3i (1) (G3i (1)), Generic 3r (1) (G3r (1))
and Generic 3s (1) (G3s (1)) G3V2 CallVisor ASAI switch software.
The Expert Agent Selection (EASe) feature in G3V2 CallVisor ASAI
is not supported currently. SS/2 continues to support G3V1
CallVisor ASAI software features.
In addition, IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 Version 1 Release 2
now supports and prerequires IBM OS/2 (R) Version 2.1 and IBM
Communications Manager/2 (CM/2) Version 1.0 for the following
switches:
o AT&T DEFINITY G3i, G3r, and G3s PBX (FN 5601)
o AT&T 5ESS CO (FN 5855)
o Northern Telecom Meridian 1 PBX (FN 5815)
o Northern Telecom DMS-100 (3) CO (FN 5600)
o ROLM 9751 CBX Release 9005 (FN 5825)
o ROLM 9751 CBX Release 9006i (FN 5865)
IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 Version 1 Release 1 continues to
support and prerequire IBM OS/2 Extended Edition (EE) Version 1.3 for
the following switches:
o AT&T DEFINITY G2 (1) PBX (FN 5835)

OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
IBM CallPath SwitchServer/2 has a unique role in establishing or
enhancing integrated telephone and data-processing capabilities. It
provides the connectivity between telephone systems and
data-processing systems. When combined with CallPath CICS/MVS (TM),
CallPath CICS/VSE (TM), CallPath/2 (TM), CallPath/DOS for Windows
(4), CallPath/400 (TM), or CallPath/6000 (TM) and CallPath
CallCoordinator/2 (TM) or CallPath CallCoordinator CICS/MVS (TM) and
the user's business application, telephone call center activity may
be further automated and streamlined, saving agent time, improving
customer service, and providing a means to create competitive
advantage business services.
SwitchServer/2 provides an interface to multiple IBM
computers, reducing network costs and simplifying the
computer-telephone system networks.
The 5ESS support is provided by the following IBM CallPath
family products:
o CallPath SwitchServer/2 Version 1.2
o CallPath CICS/MVS and CallPath CICS/VSE application enablers via
SwitchServer/2
o CallPath CallCoordinator CICS/MVS through CallPath CICS/MVS

STATEMENT OF DIRECTION
IBM intends to provide IBM CallPath CallCoordinator/2 support of the
ROLM 9751 CBX Release 9006i switch software.
Announcement of support of this switch software will be based
on IBM's technical and business judgement.
TECHINFO TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS: The following is the recommended
configurations for CallPath SwitchServer/2; however, customer
requirements may dictate that configurations other than those stated
here are applicable:
o IBM Personal System/2 (R) (PS/2 (R)) based on Microchannel
Architecture (MCA)
- For supporting AT&T G3i, G3r, G3s and 5ESS, Northern Telecom
Meridian 1 and DMS-100, and ROLM 9751 Release 9005 and 9006i:
-- 386 CPU at 20 MHZ or higher.
-- Minimum 16 megabytes (16MB) random access memory (RAM).
-- Minimum 100MB fixed disk.
(NOTE: The minimum memory and disk space configuration
supports a maximum of 30 hosts. Adding host(s) requires
additional memory and disk space).
-- One slot for Switch Connection. For ROLM 9751
Release 9005, one to five slots are needed depending on
outbound traffic volume.
-- One slot for Host Connection if required.
- For supporting AT&T G2:
-- 386 CPU at 20 MHZ or higher.
-- Minimum 10MB RAM.
-- Minimum 44MB fixed disk.
(NOTE: The minimum memory and disk space configuration
supports a single host. Adding host(s) requires
additional memory and disk space).

PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS:
o IBM OS/2 Version 2.1 (PN 61G0900) operating system, prerequisite
for AT&T G3i, G3r, G3s and 5ESS, Northern Telecom Meridian 1 and
DMS-100, and ROLM 9751 Release 9005 and 9006i.
o IBM OS/2 Extended Edition (EE) Version 1.3 (15F7-195) operating
system, prerequisite for AT&T G2.
o IBM CM/2 Version 1.0 (PN 20G1575) (prerequisite).
o LAN Adapter and Protocol Support (LAPS) (optional). This is
required if SS/2 needs to communicate with CallPath hosts over
either Token Ring or Ethernet LAN. LAPS is included in the
following software:
- IBM Network Transport Services/2 (NTS/2) (PN 96F8444)
- IBM OS/2 EE Version 1.3 with CSD 5050 or higher (15F7-195)
- IBM TCP/IP Version 1.2 for OS/2 (PN 02G6968)
- IBM LAN Server Version 2.0 or higher
o Distributed Console Access Facility (DCAF) Version 1.1 (20G1013)
(optional). This is required for remote console operation if so
desired.
o IBM VM Programmable Workstation Communication Services
Version 1.1 (5684-138, feature number 5767) for OS/2 EE 1.3.
This licensed program provides communications service between
CallPath SwitchServer/2 and DOS Windows environment on the
CallPath/DOS for Windows product.
o In addition to the SwitchServer/2 specific requirements, the
customer must have the current version of CallPath CICS/MVS,
CallPath CICS/VSE, CallPath/2, CallPath DOS for Windows,
CallPath/400 or CallPath/6000.
PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: The busy hour call volumes, call types,
and number of host attachments place different performance
requirements on SwitchServer/2. The model of PS/2 and memory and
disk space requirements should be verified for each customer
configuration.
PLANNING INFORMATION
INSTALLABILITY: To migrate from SwitchServer/2 Version 1 Release 1
to Version 1 Release 2, the following software are prerequisites.
o IBM OS/2 Version 2.1 operating system
o IBM CM/2 Version 1.0

CURRENT LICENSEES
Current licensees will automatically receive a memorandum and a
program reorder form (PRF) from IBM. Updated program material is
sent to the licensees when the PRF is returned to IBM and processed.

orders entered prior to the planned availability date will be
assigned a schedule date of October 1, 1993, unless a later date is
specified.
For switch connectivity to the AT&T DEFINITY G3i, G3r and G3s,
orders entered with a scheduled date prior to the planned
availability date of October 29, 1993 will be shipped SwitchServer/2
Version 1 Release 1. Orders entered with a scheduled shipment date
after planned availability will be shipped SwitchServer/2 Version 1
Release 2. Unless a later date is specified, an order is scheduled
for the week following order entry.
For switch connectivity to the ROLM 9751 Release 9006i, orders
entered prior to the planned availability date will be assigned a
schedule date of February 4, 1994 unless a later date is specified.
Orders entered after the planned availability date will be
assigned a schedule shipment date for the week following order entry.
Shipment of orders will commence on the planned availability

ONE-TIME CHARGE: Customers who pay a one-time charge for a licensed
program receive enhancements and future releases, if any, at no
additional charge. Significant new function may be offered as an
optional feature and charged for separately. If a replacement
program is announced and the customer elects to license the
replacement program for a one-time charge and replace the prior
program, an upgrade charge may apply.
