  7. ABSTRACT          The Developer Connection for OS/2 (R) is an annual membership
  8.            program that delivers the most current information, tools and
  9.            pre-release code available from IBM to developers in support of
  10.            continuing application development on the 32-bit OS/2 platform.
  11.                   The cornerstone of The Developer Connection for OS/2 is the
  12.            Developer Connection CD, delivered four times a year to program
  13.            members.  Since the CD contains pre-release-level and release-level
  14.            code, it is considered Beta, and is licensed for 120 days or until
  15.            the next release of The Developer Connection for OS/2, whichever
  16.            comes first.
  17.                   The initial 1993 CD provides release-level versions of the
  18.            Developer's Toolkit for OS/2 2.1, which includes the Multimedia
  19.            Presentation Manager (R) Toolkit/2 1.1, and the Pen for
  20.            OS/2 Developer's Toolkit 1.0.  Softcopy documentation, including the
  21.            OS/2 Technical Library, is also provided.
  22.                   Members also receive the Developer Connection News, a
  23.            newspaper that accompanies the CD and delivers the most up-to-date
  24.            information about IBM personal operating systems direction, operating
  25.            system extensions and development products.  The Developer Connection
  26.            News also provides useful programming tips and other technical
  27.            information.

  42. OVERVIEW   DESCRIPTION
  43.                   The Developer Connection is a convenient, timely and
  44.            comprehensive source of information, tools and sample code that
  45.            enables developers of software on the 32-bit OS/2 platform to fully
  46.            exploit operating system functionality.
  47.                   The Developer Connection CD includes pre-release code that
  48.            allows the developer to create user environments to test and develop
  49.            software.  Pre-release versions of development and productivity tools
  50.            are also provided.  A limited license to developers for the following
  51.            products is included on the initial 1993 CD:
  52.            o   Multimedia Presentation Manager/2 (TM) Version 1.1
  53.            o   Multimedia UltiMotion (Video IN)
  54.            o   Motion Video AVI Files
  55.            o   Communication Manager for OS/2 (Single User)
  56.            o   Networking Services/DOS (NSDOS)

  62.            NOTE: Pre-release code content of the Developer Connection CD may
  63.            change periodically.  The pre-release code may be modified
  64.            substantially before general availability.  IBM does not guarantee
  65.            that any of the programs contained in the pre-release section will be
  66.            made generally available.
  67.                   The CD includes the very latest softcopy documentation on
  68.            OS/2 from IBM.  Documentation on the various pre-release products on
  69.            the CD is also provided.  The following are included on the initial

  80.            provided for easy navigation through the tremendous amounts of
  81.            information and code on the CD.  A limited license to developers for
  82.            the release versions of the following is included on the initial
  83.            1993 CD:
  84.            o   OS/2 2.1 Demonstration (subsequent issues of the CD may contain
  85.                the most current pre-release version of OS/2)

  91.                   The Developer Connection News offers information on IBM
  92.            personal operating systems, new products and technical articles
  93.            direct from OS/2 development.  For instance, Workplace Operating
  94.            Systems are examined in the initial 1993 issue.
  95.                   Back issues of the Developer Connection News will also be
  96.            available in displayable softcopy format on the Development
  97.            Connection CD.
  98.            APPLICATION DEVELOPER PRODUCTIVITY:  The Developer Connection for
  99.            OS/2 delivers the most current information, tools and pre-release
  100.            code available from IBM directly to developers so that these
  101.            developers will have a head start using IBM's most current technology
  102.            for developing programs on the 32-bit OS/2 platform.

  105.            The Developer Connection for OS/2 is an annual membership program for
  106.            32-bit OS/2 software developers who need a comprehensive source of
  107.            tools and information delivered and updated on a regular basis (with
  108.            a limited license to developers for code provided on the CD).  The
  109.            Developer Connection CD delivers technical information, supported
  110.            tools and a myriad of pre-release level code.

  112.                   No publications are shipped with the Developer Connection for
  113.            OS/2.
  114.                   DISPLAYABLE SOFTCOPY PUBLICATIONS:  The OS/2 Technical Library
  115.            and many other manuals are offered in displayable softcopy form.  The
  116.            files are shipped with a reader program that allows the display of
  117.            these manuals on the CD.
  118.                   These displayable manuals can be used with the BookManager (R)
  119.            READ/2 licensed programs in any of the supported environments.  Terms
  120.            and Conditions for use of the machine readable files are included in
  121.            the license agreement for this product.

  167.            PACKAGING:  A subscription to The Developer Connection for OS/2

  173.            SECURITY, AUDITABILITY AND CONTROL
  174.                   User management is responsible for evaluation, selection and
  175.            implementation of security features, administrative procedures and
  176.            appropriate controls in application systems and communication
  177.            facilities.

  208.            Connection for OS/2 is provided by submitting questions on an

  210.            developers.  Access to the forum on CompuServe (OS2DF2) will be
  211.            available to all The Developer Connection for OS/2 subscribers until
  212.            subscription expiration (12 month duration).  The statement of
  213.            service included in the program package describes this service.
