General OS/2 Discussion (Fidonet)

Subj: config.sys & SCSI
I think this is a software problem.
When I boot OS/2, and my scanner is on, there is no problem.
If I boot OS/2, and my scanner is off, config.sys stops with the
following message:
ASPI Router Version 1.01 installed.
Could not get SCSIMGR$ entry point!
ASPI router NOT loaded. Check if OS2ASPI.DMD is loaded.
Sys1201. The device driver ASPIROUT.SYS specified in Device statement
of Config.Sys was not installed. Press Enter to continue.
The rest boots normally.
Again, if the scanner is already on, there is no problem.
My question:
Do I have to leave the scanner always on, or is there a way to boot up
even if the scanner is off?
I have tried changing the scanner ID # from 3 to 0, but it didn't make
any difference.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
