Warp 3 & 4 running Matrox G400 Dual Head 32M AGP card. Didn't even
have to reset to VGA. Just pulled out the old Matrox Mystique and
plugged in the new G400. Windoze got pissed off. HA!

Now, that's weird. All I did was update my driver to 2.31 on my
Mystique (actually done because I had a problem when I went to FP12),
shut down, removed the Mystique, and plugged in the G400. Viola! No
problems.
Running Warp 3 (not sure of the FP there) and Warp 4 FP12 on AMD
K6II-350 w/128 RAM.

Subj: 3D Blaster Banshee Video Drivers for OS/2?
From: "Ray Pierce" <repierceNOSPAM@tracy.com>
Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a video driver for OS/2 for the Creative Labs 3D
Blaster Banshee video card? I really like the way the card works in Win95
(my son loves Rainbow 6), but want to get improved video capabilities over
VGA in OS/2. Anyone know if there is even a "down level" driver available?
Thanks,

Bad mood? Of course you are right, but aggressive language here is not
going to do it anything you may wish for. As the original poster and others
said it was about a problem with something hidden on his system by SDD
which he had uninstalled already and he thought might be responsbile for
his problems with the current non-SCITech video-install where it shows up.
So no lincense infringement as you perceived but an perceived integrity in-
fringement on SDDs part on the posters system which he was trying to solve.

The latest would probably be on Hobbes. Someone uploaded the
most recent there. Version 5.35b11. I could be mistaken but I think the
GRADD driver supports this card when installing with the "ATI" switch, as
well.

Ooop! I better purchase soon!
Just a couple of questions for SciTech, there has been SO much discussion,
I lose track of everything...
- Are you planning to have H/W OpenGL for some cards in the GA?
- Will there be video capture / tv tuner for some cards in the GA?
I'm not looking for a legally binding contract :)
Just some statement of intent is good enough, I'll trust SciTech.
(And just some other notes. I gave up on testing the Beta's a while back
since I run a Millenium and the "native" drivers work fine. I was waiting
for GA to go along with a new card
Note 2: As some other people have pointed out, don't put something called
IO32.SYS in the root directory! Too obvious to see and brings up too many
questions!)

The card runs nicely under os2 and I have only one slight
problem.
I have a 21" IIyama MF5321 monitor and the display set 1280x1024
at 75Hz. With popup screens (messages) and time868 the fonts are
actually too large.
If anyone has a solution for this, I'll be gratefull to hear
about this.
As an exercise I have combined the NVIDIA drivers with the later

Chairo Tony, (and Baden.).
After trying numerous changes to the Machines configuration, (which had
minimal effects), I finally received the Matrox G200 AGP video card,
installed with the drivers on the CDROM provided, and now OS/2 comes up
flawlessly, with no 'system freezing' at all, and the display response
seems to faster than ever...
So I guess that the combination of the Cirrus Logic CL-GD54M30 video card,
with the ASUS P2B-B motherboard was the source of the problem.
It now rests with me to figure out how to backup the WPS etc.. and install
the Fixpacks, so I can install XFREE86, NS 4.61, JAva 1.1.8 and be ready
for the end of the year! A seemingly impossible task, seeing that it took
me 3 months to figure out that the video card was the source of my
problems. ;-)

here's my work-around...
1. install the nvidia driver,
2. then install sdd ( www.scitechsoft.com ).
3. change c1=sddgradd to c1=nvgradd in the config.sys
4. set the RR via the sdd tools...

I have a setup with an IBM 6091 monitor which is fixed frequency. By itself
it will not display full screen stuff, like DOS, Windows, and boot
information.
However, that can be circumvented using the dual (Primary, Secondary) display
support that has been in OS/2 for years. I have the Matrox Millennium I
driving
the 6091 as the Primary Display, and a no-name VGA card driving a 9518 as the
Secondary display. The boot and full screen stuff go to the 9518, while the
WPS goes to the 6091, running at 1280x1024, 24 bits.
And yes, as mentioned above, a monitor file will need to be hand-crafted with
the proper timings. So you will need detailed info like the pixel clock,
front porch, sync, back porch durations, etc.
The catch here is that the Millennium I has that nice VGA disable switch on
the
card. I don't think any Matrox card since then has that switch.
And the displays do not operate simultaneously. If on the full screen, the WPS
is frozen until I switch back and vice-versa.
For me, the effort was well worth the effort. Been running this setup for a
few years now. Got the 6091 at a fraction of what multisync 20-21 inch
displays cost. (Back then, they were generally well over 1000 USD.) And the
WPS
at 1280x1024 is just fabulous.
Without being able to disable VGA on the card, in a pinch I suppose a switch
box could be built to detect the sync polarity and switch between a fixed
sync monitor and a VGA monitor. Or just use a manual switch (more tedious).

My current setup is an original Matrox Millenium 4MB with v2.30.089 drivers
and running @ 1280x1024x16m colors. A program I'm attempting to run under
Win-OS/2 (The Master Genealogist 4.0) doesn't seem to like running at
anything but 640x480x256 colors on my system. Is there a way to move the
Matrox drivers out of Win-OS/2 and just have plain VGA, without causing any
other problems? It looks as though I could edit some INI files for Win-OS/2,
but I'd like to get some feedback before trying it myself.

Are you sure your refresh rate is at 75Hz? How did you changed the
default 60Hz rr?

Plain VGA wouldn't help as it is 640x480x16.
To get a different resolution in Win-OS/2 (full screen) with your Matrox
graphics adapter, you have to edit the system.ini file in OS2\MDOS\WINOS2 and
add the lines Winos2Width=640 and Winos2Height=480 to the [MGA.DRV] section.
For your purposes it might also be useful to tamper with the BPP= parameter.
I don't have any knowledge about the effects on windowed Win-OS/2 sessions,
though...
Hope it helps.

As per the first response, VGA won't help as that
is 16 not 256 colors.
Here is how I've played around with my win-os2
video settings.
Change yours system's video to whatever
(640x480x256), reboot and save the
OS2\MDOS\WINOS2\ win.ini and system.ini files.
Change back to the video you want on your OS2 side
and copy back your saved win.ini and system.ini
files.
I've even been able to have different video for
full screen versus seamless win-os2, although I'm
a bit fuzzy on exactly how (something like
changing sdisplay.drv or display.drv to the
appropriate video driver). I needed to do this a
few years back as most of the windows games wanted
860x640x256, where I liked 1024x768x64k. For
safety reasons, I would make backup copies of each
resolutions win.ini and system.ini files

Subj: Mach64 anyone?
From: Fedor Kouranov <fedor@bu.edu>
Hello everyone.
I'm currently stuck with an extremely minimum configuration, and am
wondering whether anyone could give me a hand with video setup.
The configuration is:
Warp 4 FP 12 (I didn't install driver FP though)
Pentium 100
80 Mb EDO RAM
ASUS PCI-CT264 ATI Mach64 based video with 2 Mb memory
ISA AWE32 SoundBlaster
etc.
Problem is, genuine ATI drivers that used to work ceased to, Display Doctor
sucks completely, and GRADD .80 sucks occasionally, which includes lockups
on WPS actions and not really working seamless Win-OS/2 sessions. Anyone
else experiencing these problems and having solutions to them?
Does driver FP make a difference?
Thank you!
Fedor

I should have said plain SVGA (640x480x256c).

I added those settings exactly, but it doesn't appear that anything changed.
Are you sure that's the only setting to change?

Mine is currently set at BPP=0, so I'm not sure what change to make.

Subj: Re: Diamond Viper V770 Ultra OS/2 and Xfree86
From: dunmunro@direct.ca (Duncan Munro)
Installing a colour mouse pointer helps but it doesnt fully cure the
problem. If I start xfree86/2 3.3.3 then switch back to the os/2
desktop the mouse curser will redisplay but not in winos2!
more seriously, If I try to click on the xfree86/2 cde desktop the
system freezes and I have to C-A-D to restart (does a clean shutdown
though). I'm using a diamond viper 550 (tnt 128 16megs ram).
I suspect the solution willl be to use a software cursor with
xfree86/2 but I'm not sure how to do that.
