  1. ISDN Primary LAN Distance Server Enabler Install Steps
  2. ------------------------------------------------------

  4. It is assumed you have LAN Distance 1.1 and Lan Distance 1.1 CSD.
  5.  
  6. Please use either process A or process B based on your needs.
  7. A wrap connector on the Primary adapter without a real PRIMARY line
  8. can also be used to complete installation.
  9.  
  10. Once you have a Primary line.
  11. The PRITEST in our install diskette can run under plain OS/2
  12. with our driver to test out if your PRIMARY line is OK.
  13.  
  14. A.Installation as a plain Connection Server
  15.  
  16. It is recommended that the hard disk for install be formatted
  17. unless, the person installing the product is knowledgeable about
  18. the re-install and remove processes associated with currently
  19. installed applications.
  20.  
  21. 1) It is assumed that OS/2 Ver 2.1 or higher is installed
  22. and available on the PS/2 Model 95 server.
  23.  
  24. 2) Install the LAN Distance version 1.1 software
  25.      Insert the Server Diskette 1 into drive a: and type from the current
  26.      drive a:install.
  27.      You will be asked for the LAPS diskette (diskette 3) and then
  28.      diskettes Server 1 and Server 2.

  30.    Install Lan Distance 1.1 CSD as required
  31.  
  32. Shutdown..restart
  33.  
  34.   LAN Distance configuration
  35.  
  36.     Start LAN Distance
  37.      click on Selected..Open As..settings.

  39.     The following is a working set-up for a connection server

  41.     The following steps may be carried out with directions provided in
  42.     the LAN Distance Advanced Guide V1.1

  44.     Workstation..Define Name
  45.  
  46.     Ports..N/A

  48.     Modems..N/A

  50.     Bridge..Configure Filtering..Values
  51.             Bridge no 1, maximum size 2052
  52.             LAN segment..525 (Dependent on your system)
  53.             hops..8(Dependent on your system)
  54.             Accept frames from specified source addresses only
  55.             LAN_0001...provide addresses if address based filtering done
  56.             Wan no 2 , hops 8
  57.             maximum address 3500
  58.             LAN Type IEEE 802.5
  59.             Let it Generate a LAN address
  60.  
  61.     Answer..start ISDN all calls
  62.             click..change
  63.             ..Select-Enable answer mode on Startup
  64.  
  65.     Phone Book....ISDN
  66.     Timers
  67.        60000,10000,10000

  69. shutdown..restart

  71. 3) Install ISDN Primary Support
  72.      Insert the Primary Server Enable diskette in drive a:
  73.      Go to an OS/2 full screen
  74.      type a:install.

  76.      Manually modify config.sys as per install document
  77.      Manually modify WCLNET.INI as per install document
  78.      Manually modify WCLLOCAL.INI as below

  83.          ISDNCHANNELS = 23   <--- add this statement

  85. shutdown..restart

  87. Activate LAN Distance..It will take a few minutes
  88.  
  89.      View ISDNPCML.CUR in the WAL subdirectory.
  90.      The last line should indicate SAPI/TEI 0/0 Established..card #n
  91.  
  92. B.Installation with CM/2 and 3270 emulation resident at server
  93.

  102. 2) If you already have Communication Manager CM/2 ver 1.1 installed
  103. proceed to step 3.

  105. Install CM/2...Ignore LAPS install requirement,
  106.     Place Diskette 1 of CM/2 in drive and invoke the following command
  107.     Go to an OS/2 full screen
  108.           a:cmsetup
  109.     Proceed with Set-up and Configuration,
  110.     Configure for Token Ring, 3270 emulation

  112. shutdown..restart

  114. 3)Install LAPS.... Use diskette 3 provided with
  115.   your Lan Distance software product.
  116.     Place LAPS Diskette in drive a: and invoke the following command
  117.     Go to an OS/2 full screen
  118.           a:laps
  119.  
  120.     Configure LAPS
  121.       Select the adapter as
  122.          IBM Token Ring Adapter( or appropriate LAN adapter)
  123.  
  124.       Select the following protocols
  125.  
  126.         0- NETBIOS
  127.         0- IEEE802.2 (or appropriate Protocol)

  129. shutdown..restart
  130.  
  131.     Start Communications manager
  132.     Try a VM session and it should work at this point.
  133.     If not, make sure you have the correct version of software for
  134.     OS/2 and CM/2.  Otherwise contact our software support
  135.     as mentioned in the install documentation.

  137. 4) Install the LAN Distance version 1.1 software
  138.      Insert the Server Diskette 1 into drive a: and type from the current
  139.      drive a:install.
