  10. GammaTech Utilities for OS/2 perform functions which enhance and complement
  11. your OS/2 workstation.  GammaTech Utilities for OS/2 provide the ability to
  12. perform volume recovery, optimization and essential maintenance operations
  13. easily without extensive technical knowledge.
  14.  
  15. The utilities support High Performance File System (HPFS) and File Allocation
  16. Table (FAT) formats.  GammaTech Utilities operate in the Presentation Manager
  17. (graphic) mode and in the Command Line (text) mode.  GammaTech installs
  18. quickly and easily using the graphic installation program.
  19.  
  20. GammaTech Utilities supports all HPFS versions, including the HPFS versions
  21. 2.3, 2.4 and HPFS386.  Additional support has been added for the IBM LAN
  22. Server 4.0 HPFS386 enhancements and for HPFS volumes greater than 2 Gigabytes.

  24. The utilities are programmed in 32 bit code to take advantage of multi-tasking
  25. capabilities and virtual memory addressing which creates superior performance
  26. with enhanced resource efficiency.  All the Utility features support the OS/2
  27. long file names and extended attributes.

  31. ANALYZE
  32.  
  33. Provides information on volume capacity, drive specifications, available
  34. memory, free sectors, bad sectors, hot fixed and hot fixes in use, total
  35. cylinders, free space extents and free space, volume label, total sectors,
  36. percent in use, and sector size.
  37.  
  38. BEEP
  39.  
  40. Allows you to specify sound.  Options to specify frequency and duration of one
  41. or more beeps.  You may also specify a file containing a list of
  42. frequency/duration pairs which will play musical tunes.
  43.  
  44. DISKMAP
  45.  
  46. This utility provides a graphical display of the layout of FAT or HPFS
  47. volumes.  The DiskMap's color coded display identifies system areas, file
  48. areas, bad sectors and free space.
  49.  
  50. FATOPT
  51.  
  52. The FAT Optimizer utility defragments FAT volumes under OS/2, maintaining
  53. important extended attributes (EA) associations that may be lost by using a
  54. DOS based optimization utility.  You can view the optimization process
  55. graphically, sector by sector, as t he optimizer is working.  In addition to
  56. defragmentation, FATOpt cleans up directory structures, optimizes free space
  57. on the volume and allows the user to specify parameter optimization to proceed
  58. if fragmentation exceeds a certain level.  The user can a lso specify
  59. optimization of the EA_DATA._SF file.  A command line version is included for
  60. offline optimization.

  62. FATSORT
  63.  
  64. The FATSort utility sorts FAT file system directories by name, file extension,
  65. datestamp or filesize.
  66.  
  67. FILES UTILITY
  68.  
  69. Provides file maintenance.  Extensive file selection criteria permit delete,
  70. move, copy, set or alter time stamps and attributes functions on multiple
  71. files.  An option is included to bypass OS/2 Undelete processing.  Using the
  72. Wipe Files function ensures sensitive data can not be recovered.

  74. FILEREC
  75.  
  76. Recovers damaged FAT files, replacing bad sectors.  The data in the sector is
  77. lost, but the space is reserved and the user may be able to reconstruct the
  78. sectors manually.

  80. FILEJOIN
  81.  
  82. Provides a method of rejoining multiple floppies separated in the recovery
  83. process.  Allows rejoining a file separated into multiple floppies during
  84. recovery.

  86. GTDISK
  87.  
  88. A suite of six utilities in a text mode shell, which allows you to perform
  89. recovery operations from a floppy or hard drive
  90.  
  91.   > BADSECTR
  92.  
  93.         Marks bad sectors on a disk.
  94.  
  95.   > UNDELETE
  96.  
  97.         Undeletes files when the Presentation Manager is unavailable.
  98.  
  99.   > DIRTY
  100.  
  101.         Toggles the dirty flag on and off to allow access to a 'dirty'
  102.         volume. The dirty flag tells OS/2 that the volume may need clean up
  103.         action.  Normally this is done by running CHKDSK or AUTOCHECK.

  105.   > HPFS RECOVER
  106.  
  107.         Recovers files from a damaged HPFS volume.  Low sector corruption of
  108.         an HPFS volume will result in total data loss; this utility locates
  109.         files on the HPFS volume without the need to access the
  110.         low sector structures, allowing recovery of most files on the volume.
  111.  
  112.    > PARTITION FIXUP
  113.  
  114.         recreates a usable logical boot sector on a partition which has been
  115.         deleted or redefined.    
  116.  
  117.    > BOOT SECTOR BACKUP/RESTORE
  118.  
  119.         Backs up the boot sectors of all physical and logical disks.
  120.  
  121. HEXDUMP
  122.  
  123. Permits the user to convert binary files to ASCII readable text, which can
  124. then be viewed or edited by any standard text editor and converted back to
  125. binary format.
  126.  
  127. HPFSOPT
  128.  
  129. Optimizes HPFS formats, defragmenting files and maximizing free space.
  130. Individual files may be selected for optimization based on file size limits.
  131. Optimization may be performed automatically at specified intervals.  LD List
  132. Directory Utility is an enhanced DIR command.  You may sort using LD.
  133. Additionally, you may add comments to your files.

  135. MKPATH
  136.  
  137. Make Directory Path creates a multi-level path with one command.
  138.  
  139.  
  140. REBOOT
  141.  
  142. Equivalent to performing a Ctrl+ALT+Delete key sequence.  Additionally,
  143. options to shut down the Presentation Manager applications and to request the
  144. settings be saved prior to reboot are available.
  145.  
  146. SEDIT
  147.  
  148. The SEdit utility allows the user to view formatted displays of hex data for
  149. file structures, including the boot sector, HPFS Super and Spare Blocks, FAT
  150. file allocation tables and the partition table.  The sector editor also
  151. enables the user read or write multiple sectors from external files.
  152.  
  153. SENTRY
  154.  
  155. Monitors boot sectors, locks files, and backs up the Desktop and OS/2.INI and
  156. OS2SYS.INI files at specified intervals.
  157.  
  158. SYSINFO
  159.  
  160. General system information, hardware information, and Presentation Manager
  161. information.
  162.  
  163. UNDELETE
  164.  
  165. Scans HPFS or FAT partitions for recoverable files.  You may combine the
  166. capabilities of both the OS/2 and GammaTech Undelete features.
  167.  
  168. WHERE
  169.   
  170. Locates files on hard drives.  It functions on HPFS or FAT volumes and
  171. supports long file names.  Hidden and system files are included in the search.
  172.  
  173. WIPEFREE
  174.  
  175. The WipeFree utility allows wiping of all freespace.  The option to perform
  176. secure wiping in conformance with the U.S.  Department of Defense
  177. specifications is included.  An option to erase freespace on volumes which
  178. have been fast formatted is included.
  179.  
  180.
