  11. How can I print envelopes from Ami Pro 3.1 for OS/2 to my DeskJet 500 or
  12. 500C printer?

  14. SOLUTION:

  16. The following instructions describe how to create a HP 500 or 500C printer
  17. object for printing envelopes from Ami Pro for OS/2.
  18.  
  19. NOTE:
  20. This TechNote is based on the 13.409 version of the HP DeskJet 500/500C
  21. driver. This version of the HP DeskJet driver ships with the IBM WARP (OS/2
  22. 3.0) Service Pack.

  25. CREATING THE NEW PRINTER OBJECT
  26.  
  27. 1.  CTRL-DRAG the existing printer object, and give it a new name (Possibly
  28. Envelope DJ).
  29.  
  30. 2.  Open the Settings notebook for the new object.
  31.  
  32. 3.  Choose the "Printer Driver" Tab.
  33.  
  34. 4.  Choose the "Job Properties" Button.
  35.  
  36. 5.  Verify the following settings are set for the printer.
  37.  
  38.        Orientation - PORTRAIT
  39.  
  40.        Media Size - 8.5 X 11
  41.  
  42.        Media Type - PLAIN PAPER
  43.   
  44.        Media Source - MANUAL FEED ENVELOPE

  46. NOTE:
  47. - The printer driver in OS/2 3.0 contains a pre-defined form for printing
  48. envelopes. Open the printer driver and select Job Properties, and change
  49. the Default Form Connection to "Manual Feed:C10Envelope:Plain Paper.

  51. - If printing to a 500C change the Default Form Connection to "Upper
  52. Tray:C10Envelope:Plain Paper, and make sure the print mode matches the type
  53. of ink cartridge installed.

  55. 6.  Choose OK.
  56.  
  57. 7.  Close the Notebook by DOUBLE CLICKING the close button (top left of
  58. dialog box).
  59.  
  60. 8.  Start Ami Pro for OS/2.
  61.  
  62. 9.  Open (File / Open) a document containing an address.
  63.  
  64. 10. Choose File/Print Envelope.
  65.  
  66. 11. In the Print Envelopes Dialog Box for the Printer, select the printer
  67. object that you created for envelopes.
  68.  
  69. 12. Envelope Size should be Size 10.
  70.  
  71. 13. Choose "Print Return Address" if desired. (Do not select "Use Envelope
  72. Feeder").
  73.  
  74. 14. Choose the "Settings" button and verify "Portrait" is selected.

  76. 15. Choose the "Adjust" button. All settings should be set to zero
  77. initially (These can be changed later to suit your preferences).

  79. 16. Choose OK until you close all dialog boxes and the envelope prints.
