The list box shows the names of all the DOS/Windows program objects that QVDM has found. QVDM only lists abstract program objects.
You may select any number of entries by clicking on them. Click again to deselect an entry.
Use the <Select All> and <Clear All> buttons to quickly select or clear all the entries.

Use this button to write the VDM settings for all the entries selected in the list box to a text file.
If you want to add a comment to the file, type it in the box provided.

Use this button to create a new program object from a QVDM file.
The program name and session type will be read from the file if possible, but can be changed if required.
Insert the full path to the executable file and its extension in the space provided. Any parameters must be added later using the object's Settings notebook.
If the file contains settings for more than one program, the first group of settings will be used.
The new object will be put in a folder called QVDM Folder, which will be created if it does not already exist.

QVDM gets no notification of changes to the Workplace Shell.
If you create or delete DOS or WinOS/2 program objects, or change the global WinOS/2 settings while QVDM is running, use <Refresh> to force QVDM to update its information.
If you create a new object using QVDM, it does not automatically update the list, because this can take an annoyingly long time.

QVDM writes a file containing the name of the selected program object, the type of session it runs under (DOS Full Screen, Windows Seamless etc), and its Virtual Dos Machine settings.
In the [Settings] section, <0> and <1> may be used in place of <OFF> and <ON>. OS/2 itself is not consistent about this.
Some extra information in the file is intended for use by future versions of QVDM.

Abstract program objects exist only in the Workplace Shell.
They can launch programs, but do not represent real files (if you delete an abstract object, the program file is not affected).
If you have shadowed a physical directory or program file to the Workplace Shell, it does represent a real file and is treated differently.
At present, QVDM can only locate and work with abstract objects.

OS/2 records settings for an object only when they are different from the defaults. QVDM fills in the others using the current defaults.
Some default settings can be changed in CONFIG.SYS (FILES, FCBS, XMS, EMS etc), and global settings for WinOS/2 objects can changed with System Setup.
Therefore, QVDM could report different settings for the same object on two different computers.
