Program Function: Manage system/userid/password data.
Disclaimer: You are free to use this program for a 30 day trial
with the following condition:
You are accepting all responsibility for any
problems that might arise from using this program.
If you don't agree with these terms,
then delete the program now.
This version of PWMgr will cease to perform after 10/31/95.
Cost: $10.00
If you continue to use PWMgr after the 30 day trial,
then the must register the program. Upon registering,
you will be sent (via Internet or CompuServe) a copy
of Password Manager that doesn't have the 10/31/95
expiration date, or the intro screen.
If you find errors, or want features added,
send me an email and I will see what I can do.
Introduction: Using many different online systems, and multiple networks
at my job, I find that it gets rather tedious to maintain
multiple passwords. The other day one of my passwords
expired, and I was required to change it. I had been
logging on to this particular service via a 'logon script'
and hadn't seen the password for 90 days. It to
approximately 2 hours to find the piece of paper this
password had been written on. At this point, I decided
that I would create a system for maintaining my userid
and passwords for all of the various systems I used.
And here is the result.
Installation: Run the the PWMInst.Cmd file by typing:
PWMInst pwmDir
where pwmDir = the directory to instal PWMgr into.
This will create pwmDir (if it doesn't exist) and copy
the PWMgr files into this directory. It will then
add a PWMgr icon to the desktop.
How to use: The use of the program should be rather straight-forward,
to add a system/userid/password click the add button,
enter your data, and then press the save button.
Before exiting the program you MUST save the data via
the menu or 'save' pushbutton on the main screen.
Notes: This program makes use of the DES.EXE (and the emx.dll
needed by DES.EXE) public domain encryption program.
The password for encryption/decryption used by PWMgr
ARE case sensitive. Therefore, HELLO <> hello.
Password manager uses the public domain DES.EXE program
for encryption/decryption. Therefore theoretically any
person with DES.EXE can decrypt the PWMgr data files and
get your data. So don't store the data files where other
people have access to them.
Future: I will (if demand merits) add other features. I will
gladly entertain ideas/suggestions/requests from users
of the program.
