WHAT IS INICNV?
IniCnv will read OS2 1.x formatted INI program definition data and create
OS2 2.0 desktop folders and program references.
So don't trash those 1.2 and 1.3 OS2.INI files....recycle them instead!
Use IniCnv to read all of those laboriously entered program paths, parameter
strings and startup directories and automatically create new 2.0 desktop
objects.
IniCnv can also read the files created by IniUtil. So if you have used
IniUtil to create install files for many users, you can use those same
files to install their customized 2.0 desktops. Also, IniUtil can still
read many of the program installations performed under OS2 2.0. That means
you can use IniUtil to backup a lot of the version 2.0 program definitions
(for example, Extended Services in 6.304) and then use IniCnv to selectively
restore them later should you need to.
Unfortunately, IniCnv does have a couple of restrictions:
- Icons don't appear in the new folders until you reboot.
- Must run under OS2 2.0 beta 6.304 or above.
All in all, IniCnv can probably still be a big help to you!
