Incompatibility Warning
-----------------------
The GCPLIB01.DLL file included with this package is incompatible with
the one included in the Gibbon Talk version 1.0 package. If you are
using Gibbon Talk version 1.0, please upgrade to version 1.1 or above.
Trial Period
------------
Gibbon Double Click has a trial period for evaluation. If you don't
register before the trial period expires, these program will no longer
run. The trial period expires 30 days from the date of first use. The
window will display the number of days remaining in the trial period for
10 seconds, before the text changes to display the copyright information.
Installation
------------
An installation program, GCPINST.EXE is included in the package. Once
you start GCPINST, the installation should be self-explanatory. The
installation program will copy the files to the appropriate directories,
optionally update your CONFIG.SYS file, and optionally create objects on
your desktop.
The installation program can also be used to recreate your desktop objects
or reupdate your CONFIG.SYS file, should you lose the desktop objects or
the CONFIG.SYS changes. These functions are performed by selecting the
appropriate options in the installation program. These options will be
on the third page.
Usage
-----
Gibbon Double Click can be set up in four different ways, by selecting
one of the the four radio buttons on the window.
1. The "No Action" radio button disables the program. You would select
this if you need to use the middle button for some other purpose for
a short time.
2. The "Button 1 Double Click" radio button is the default when you
first start the program. This turns the middle button into a button
1 double-click.
3. The "Chord Buttons 1+2" radio button is used to translate the middle
button into a chord of buttons 1 and 2. An example of where this
would be used is to bring up the Window List.
4. The "Lock Next Button" radio button is used to turn the middle button
into a "toggle". This is useful for drag and drop, among other things.
To use it in this fashion, you would click the middle button, then
click on an icon with button 2 (usually the right button). You can
then release button 2, but the icon will still be dragged. This way,
you don't have to keep holding button 2 while dragging. Pressing any
mouse button will release the "locked" button.
There is also a "Start Minimized" checkbox. This is only enabled in the
registered version. When this is checked, the window will minimize itself
after it starts up.
Occasionally, the GCPCLKHK.DLL will become locked by the system. This
could prevent you from deleting or moving the DLL to another directory.
It could also prevent Gibbon Double Click from starting. If you stop
the program and try to restart it, and get an error message, that is
most likely the reason. In most cases, this can be resolved by running
Gibbon Double Click from the command line:
GCPDCLK r
The "r" parameter tells the program to attempt to release the DLL, then
exit. Running this one or two times should clear up the problem. In a
few instances, you may have to reboot before the DLL is released. Since
this program is usually started at bootup, and never shut down, this
should not be a problem.
Helpful Tips and Notes
----------------------
1. There is no on-line help for Gibbon Double Click. This document is
all there is. The program should be simple enough to use without
integrated help.
2. The "Start Minimized" checkbox is only enabled in the registered
version. It is set up this way so you won't miss the message that
tells you how many days are left in the trial period.
3. Since this is not a device driver, there are some limitations. The
one that is most noticable is what I call "The Jump." For an example
of this, start Klondike Solitaire. Play the game until there is an
Ace ready to me moved to the "Ace Stack". Set Options/Animation to
Very Slow. Now double-click the Ace with the middle button. While
the Ace is oh-so-slowly making it's way to the "Ace Stack", move
the mouse. When the Ace makes it to the stack, the mouse will "jump"
back to its previous position.
This also sometimes happens when starting or closing an application.
This is usually not a problem, but if you know about it, it won't be
quite so bothersome when it happens.

Package Validity
----------------
All application packages created by Gibbon Computer Products, Inc. can be
verified for validity. In the case of Gibbon Finger, the GCPDCLK.ZIP file
has been PGP signed. The detached signature file is GCPDCLK.ASC. If you
have a copy of PGP, you can verify the authenticiy of the package by typing
"pgp GCPDCLK.ASC GCPDCLK.ZIP" at a command line prompt. PGP will tell you
if the file is valid. If you want to do this, you need PGP and my public
key. My public key is available through ftp to ftp.gibbon.com as the file
/pub/gcp/pgp-public-key. It's also available through GCP's WWW site. It's
currently at http://www.gibbon.com/links/pgp-public-key.html. It is also
available through the PGP keyservers.
