  3. What and Why GiftWare?

Tink Software is GiftWare. If you like it, if you use it, then encourage me to write more cool add ons. Building software is a costly and time consuming project. My choices are dictate a charge, quit supplying the software, or leave the charge in your hands. I preferred making Tink Software GiftWare, leaving the price in your hands ie. GiftWare is a gift exchange.

  7. If you use Tink Software, please send a gift in return. This can be dollars (you name the amount), or a gift of some sort (new/used) that I can use, sell to recupe costs or pass along to others; children, adults etc. Use your imagination.

  9. The address to send gifts is located in each of the icon bar manuals in the GiftWare division. Tink Software will remain GiftWare until I am convinced that the concept doesn't work. Thanks...Tink

  17. The FinkBar has not yet been thoroughly tested under SmartSuite ME and Win 98. Otherwise, all's well for the FinkBar and ALL versions of Word Pro in combo with Win 3.1, Win 3.11, WFWG, Win 95, and WinNT4.

  20. All is well for ALL Word Pro versions under OS/2. See the special JIMMY'S for REXX installation under OS/2 or use the Windows installation under WinOS2 for the same functions and features.

  54. FinkBar adds important features to Lotus Word Pro through an add on
  55. SmartIcon tool bar and associated LScript scripts and Documents.

  57. FinkBar is Giftware.  If you enjoy it, please do read the FinkBar.lwp
  58. manual "GiftWare" division for an understanding of what this means.  The
  59. GiftWare version asks for a gift donation to further the TinkBar/FinkBar
  60. development effort.  The FinkBar adds really cool stuff to your Word Pro
  61. application.

  66. Lotus Word Pro must already be installed on your computer.

  79. Beta versions of Word Pro may still support FinkBar but no support is
  80. specifically offered.  Future versions of Word Pro or SmartSuite may
  81. require an upgrade to FinkBar as well.

  84. Installation:
  85. =============

  87. Before doing anything open the document FINKBAR.LWP and review the
  88. installation instructions and features.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN FINKBAR
  89. BEFORE REVIEWING DOCUMENTATION.  Several important additional setup steps
  90. are required to fully integrate Giftware FinkBar.

  92. To start the installation copy the following files to a floppy disk:
  93.  
  94.         DISK.ID
  95.         WINSTALL.EXE
  96.         FINKBAR.001
  97.         INSTALL.DAT
  98.  
  99. Then execute the WINSTALL.EXE command from the Windows Start button -> RUN
  100. prompt or from the Windows Program Manager -> Run option.  To install
  101. from the hard drive you _must_ copy DISK.ID to the root directory of the
  102. disk drive you unzipped this file archive.  It won't work any other way.

  104. SPECIAL NOTE FOR OS/2 Warp users.

  107. While the FinkBar fully supports OS/2 Warp Word Pro versions, the
  108. installation program _must_ be run from a full screen session of WINOS2.
  109.  
  110. If you do _not_ have WINOS2 support then you have downloaded the wrong
  111. version of FinkBar.  Please go to the following WEB site and get the
  112. correct version when it is available (should be released soon after the
  113. Winstall version is).

  117. Without WINOS2 support you can not install this version.  The other
  118. version is identical but requires more manual installation steps.  OS/2
  119. Warp FinkBar is exactly the same in every other respect.

  121. Last minute notes:

  124. After installing the FinkBar in any 97 product of Word Pro, you will
  125. need to open, close and reopen Word Pro again for the bar to appear
  126. on screen.

  128. Installation to a server based copy of Word Pro can not be supported
  129. at this time.  SmartMasters, Scripts, and Icons directories must
  130. reside on the local workstation for proper usage of the FinkBar.

  136. FinkBar is written with tender loving care for use in all versions of
  137. Word Pro.  However if the installation of FinkBar should cause major or
  138. minor damage to your system or your life the authors assume no
  139. responsibility for anything at all due to FinkBar usage or installation.
  140. You are free to report all problems you encounter and a best effort will
  141. be made to correct any problems though no assurance should be implied by
  142. this offer that the problem will be fixed to meet any deadline you may
  143. have.

  146. any software product is always a very good and safe idea.
