STATLINE is a single line status display for OS/2 Presentation Manager. It
displays at the top of the screen the current day-of-week, date, time and OS/2
free storage values. The selection of display contents and update interval is
under user control.
The free storage displayed is the current size of the largest contiguous area
of OS/2 storage, and will vary depending on current application mix, sequence
of operation etc.
STATLINE is invoked without parameters from either the command line or, more
likely, from within the STARTUP.CMD file. Once active, the display options and
update interval can be modified by pressing the button at the left-hand end with
the mouse. A dialog box will be displayed, and changes will be applied when 'OK'
is selected. Current options will be saved in the OS2.INI file, and restored on
subsequent sessions.
Keyboard interaction is also possible by selecting the STATLINE task from the
active task list and pressing the spacebar to invoke the dialog box. Changes to
parameters can be made with a combination of tab/arrow keys and indicated letter
assignments.
Sample STARTUP.CMD contents:
START "Status Line" STATLINE
EXIT
(The above assumes that the STATLINE.EXE file will be found in a directory
listed in the current PATH assignment.)
The default update interval of one second should have a negligible impact on
performance of OS/2 applications. It may be advisable though to increase the
interval to 5 seconds or more if processor intensive or communications programs
are being run in the DOS compatibility box, especially on 286 processors.
STATLINE was developed by BEST SOFTWARE for unlimited public use free of charge
and is distributed with the condition that this DOC file accompany the module.
It was developed with OS/2 SE Version 1.2 and should be fully functional on all
OS/2 versions from 1.1 onwards.
