  37. PMFormat provides a Presentation Manager Interface for the Format utility 
  38. provided with OS/2.  OS/2's regular Format utility is used so disks formatted 
  39. under PMFormat are completely standard.  The setup dialog allows you to state 
  40. the drive to format, density of the disk, and a volume label.

  42. Note:  Use the Def density button if the disk is the same density as the 
  43. default for the drive or leave the setting blank.

  48. The floppy drives defined to your computer are listed here. Use the mouse or 
  49. cursor to highlight the drive letter to be formatted.  PMFormat does not list 
  50. the Hard Drives.

  55. The buttons located within this group are used to set the disk size for format. 
  56. If the disk is to be formatted at the same density as the drives standard 
  57. setting do not set a button or choose Def.  Choose a button by clicking the 
  58. Left Mouse button when the mouse cursor is on the desired button or by using 
  59. the TAB and Cursor keys to move to the desired button and press the Space bar.

  117. Select this to list any files on the disk about to be formated. Dir allows you 
  118. to check the disk before beginning the format and be sure you won't format the 
  119. wrong disk.

  124. This Dialog lists the directories and files found on the target disk. Each 
  125. directory starts with <DIR>. Place the mouse pointer on a directory and double 
  126. click or move to the selection with the cursor and press ENTER to list the 
  127. files in that directory. Choose OK to exit this screen.

  132. The list box displays all directories and files on the target disk. You can 
  133. move down through the subdirectories by selecting a subdirectory with the mouse 
  134. or cursor. The files for the selected directory will then be selected. To move 
  135. back to the previous directory select the .. directory.

  140. This dialog provides you with the information given by Format when it is done. 
  141. The volume label, Serial number, Total disk size, and Available bytes are 
  142. listed.

  147. This is the volume label entered by you. It will be blank if you did not enter 
  148. a volume label.

  153. This is the disk's serial number. The serial number is created by the operating 
  154. system and is unique for all disks created on the same machine.

  159. This is the total number of bytes of data space on the disk.

  164. This is the number of bytes of data space currently free on the disk. This 
  165. should match the Total Bytes on a newly formatted diskette.

  170. Format has not output any messages for the maximum allowed time. Some versions 
  171. of Format will not time out properly if a disk is formatted at a density 
  172. greater than it is designed for. If you know the selected density is correct 
  173. you may need to increase the timeout value. The time out factor is 50 by 
  174. default.  Enter a larger value on the command line when starting PMFORMAT or 
  175. place a larger value in the Parameter field of the program setup to increase 
  176. the default value.
