  3. This utility is primarily intended for OS2 PC administrators.  However, the
  4. backup function for the OS2 system INI files is something that every OS2
  5. user should consider running.  
  6.  
  7. I have put a lot of time into the help subsystem, so I won't repeat myself
  8. too much here regarding the function and use of this utility.
  9.  
  10. Install the program in any directory that you wish.  You can install the 
  11. help file (iniutil.hlp) in the same directory as the program if you make
  12. that directory current before invoking the utility.  Otherwise, place the
  13. help file in a directory named by the HELP= statement in your config.sys.
  14.  
  15. This is my first attempt at shareware.  Like most shareware utilities 
  16. (I imagine) this utility began its life because of a personal desire on 
  17. the author's part to save time and fill a need.  However, I have dressed
  18. it up enough and spent enough time that I believe it should be worth 
  19. something to a significant number of people.

  21. I wrote this utility under OS2 1.2 SE at the infamous november
  22. <grin> refresh levels of both the operating system and the IBM programming
  23. tools and information kit.  I believe that it is safe for use in this 
  24. environment, but ===> HERE COMES THE DISCLAIMER <=== use this utility at 
  25. your own risk.  I am providing this utility AS IS with no expressed or
  26. implied warranty and am not responsible for any damage that may be caused
  27. by its use.

  30. keep the following files intact:

  42. I have updated the program with a workaround for a bug in the PRFQUERY...
  43. calls encountered under OS2 V2 (BUILD 6.123.)   This utility now apears to
  44. work with OS2 V2 in the currently available V1.3 compatibility mode.  I 
  45. haven't worked with the new V2 workstation shell, but I don't think that 
  46. this utility will have much applicability there in its current form.

  48. I would like to thank all of those who have expressed interest in this utility 
  49. lately.  I have to admit that I am somewhat taken aback by the recent interest 
  50. as this thing slept on the boards for almost a year before anyone acknowledged
  51. it at all.  It is helpful when upgrading from 1.2 to 1.3 and maybe a lot of
  52. you went through that in the 1st qtr '91.  Who knows?

  54. At any rate, I pretty much dropped this project in '90 after determining that
  55. shareware is no way to try to make a living.  Once I see the OS2 V2 shell 
  56. environment, I will make a decision as to whether or not I am up to revamping 
  57. the utility.

  66. I just can't believe that after so much inactivity, I am updating this thing
  67. again!  I plugged a hole that caused abterm if search is executed from the
  68. IPF facility.  I also enabled the Color action bar item due to the many 
  69. requests that I received.
