Hi,
This utility is primarily intended for OS2 PC administrators. However, the
backup function for the OS2 system INI files is something that every OS2
user should consider running.
I have put a lot of time into the help subsystem, so I won't repeat myself
too much here regarding the function and use of this utility.
Install the program in any directory that you wish. You can install the
help file (iniutil.hlp) in the same directory as the program if you make
that directory current before invoking the utility. Otherwise, place the
help file in a directory named by the HELP= statement in your config.sys.
This is my first attempt at shareware. Like most shareware utilities
(I imagine) this utility began its life because of a personal desire on
the author's part to save time and fill a need. However, I have dressed
it up enough and spent enough time that I believe it should be worth
something to a significant number of people.
I have to confess that the biggest reason that I would like for you to send
me some compensation for this utility is that my wife discovered that this
project was not work related. She accepts the amount of time I hack at home
for the job, but seems somewhat puzzled by the time I spent on this project.
In any event, I wrote this utility under OS2 1.2 SE at the infamous november
<grin> refresh levels of both the operating system and the IBM programming
tools and information kit. I believe that it is safe for use in this
environment, but ===> HERE COMES THE DISCLAIMER <=== use this utility at
your own risk. I am providing this utility AS IS with no expressed or
implied warranty and am not responsible for any damage that may be caused
by its use.
Feel free to pass this along to any BBS that will have it as long as you
keep the following files intact:
READ.ME
INIUTIL.HLP
INIUTIL.EXE
I welcome comments or suggestions regarding this utility. The easiest way
to find me is through Compuserve 75600,237.
