  4. If you receive ZipStream as a Zip file, you should unzip all files
  5. to a diskette, as installation is designed to occur from diskette.
  6.  
  7. After files have been unzipped to diskette, run 'view a:zstream.inf'
  8. for further information on installation.
  9.  
  10. An alternative method is to unzip all files to a subdirectory e.g.
  11. 'c:\zs' then change directory to that directory (cd \zs) and finally
  12. run 'setup'. After installation is complete you can delete the 
  13. directory 'zs' e.g. del c:\zs\*.*  and  rd c:\zs.

  16. Installation Path
  17. =================
  18.  
  19. ZipStream will always install to the \cbased directory on the OS/2 
  20. boot partition.  Installation to the boot partition is required to 
  21. ensure correct Installable File System (IFS) initialisation.

  24. MaxFile Size Limit
  25. ==================
  26.  
  27. This version of ZipStream now configures the maximum size of a file that
  28. will be attempted to be compressed.  By default this value is 16 MByte.
  29. If you need to increase this value adjust the 'MaxFileSize' setting 
  30. in cbszs.ini in the ZipStream installation directory (\cbased).

  33. Operation with Zip or Magneto Optical Drives
  34. ============================================
  35.  
  36. Some versions of the Physical drivers that are used to control Zip or 
  37. Magneto Optical drives may have defects that cause your system to hang 
  38. if accessed via a ZipStream drive letter. 
  39.  
  40. This version of ZipStream now provides a work around for this situation.
  41.  
  42. If you experience problems change the 'UseUnlockedBuffers' setting 
  43. in the 'SysGeneralOptions' section from 'No' to 'Yes' in cbszs.ini 
  44. in the ZipStream installation directory (\cbased).

  47. Upgrading From Versions PRIOR to 1.03
  48. =====================================
  49.  
  50. In Version 1.03 and later the storage path of several key 
  51. components of ZipStream has changed.
  52.  
  53. Previously most of the ZipStream files were stored in the \OS2 and 
  54. \OS2\DLL directories.  Now all files are stored in the \CBASED 
  55. directory.

  58. Upgrading From Version 1.02 or later
  59. ====================================
  60.  
  61. Just run a standard installation. The update operation is automatic.
  62. Then shutdown and restart to begin using the new version.

  65. Upgrading From Versions PRIOR to 1.02
  66. =====================================
  67.  
  68. If you have a previous version already installed then follow these 
  69. instructions:
  70.  
  71. 1. Run the new zsinst utility manually as follows:
  72.       zsinst -d
  73.  
  74.       (the -d switch is a new automatic deinstall function)
  75.  
  76. 2. Reboot the system (Not Ctrl-Alt-Del)
  77. 3. Run the installation as per the on-line documentation
  78.    (That is use the device drive install utility from the desktop).
  79.  
  80. 4. Reboot, and that's it.
  81.  
  82. Note: If you have modified the standard installation setup then you will have
  83.       to manually deinstall ZipStream yourself, but try zsinst -d first!

  86. Deinstallation
  87. ==============
  88.  
  89. Deinstallation is now automatic (if you have a standard installation), 
  90. run
  91.     zsinst -d
  92.  
  93. If you have a non standard installation, use zsinst -U to clean off the
  94. Desktop.

  97. Evaluation Period
  98. =================
  99.  
  100. ZipStream may be evaluated for a period of 30 days only!
  101.  
  102. After 45 days have expired, automatic (de)compression operations 
  103. will be suspended.
  104.  
  105. Files that are compressed on your system after the Evaluation period
  106. has expired may be manually decompressed with the ZSUnpack utility.
