V1.20 Installation Notes:
=========================
If you receive ZipStream as a Zip file, you should unzip all files
to a diskette, as installation is designed to occur from diskette.
After files have been unzipped to diskette, run 'view a:zstream.inf'
for further information on installation.
An alternative method is to unzip all files to a subdirectory e.g.
'c:\zs' then change directory to that directory (cd \zs) and finally
run 'setup'. After installation is complete you can delete the
directory 'zs' e.g. del c:\zs\*.* and rd c:\zs.
Installation Path
=================
ZipStream will always install to the \cbased directory on the OS/2
boot partition. Installation to the boot partition is required to
ensure correct Installable File System (IFS) initialisation.
MaxFile Size Limit
==================
This version of ZipStream now configures the maximum size of a file that
will be attempted to be compressed. By default this value is 16 MByte.
If you need to increase this value adjust the 'MaxFileSize' setting
in cbszs.ini in the ZipStream installation directory (\cbased).
Operation with Zip or Magneto Optical Drives
============================================
Some versions of the Physical drivers that are used to control Zip or
Magneto Optical drives may have defects that cause your system to hang
if accessed via a ZipStream drive letter.
This version of ZipStream now provides a work around for this situation.
If you experience problems change the 'UseUnlockedBuffers' setting
in the 'SysGeneralOptions' section from 'No' to 'Yes' in cbszs.ini
in the ZipStream installation directory (\cbased).
Upgrading From Versions PRIOR to 1.03
=====================================
In Version 1.03 and later the storage path of several key
components of ZipStream has changed.
Previously most of the ZipStream files were stored in the \OS2 and
\OS2\DLL directories. Now all files are stored in the \CBASED
directory.
Upgrading From Version 1.02 or later
====================================
Just run a standard installation. The update operation is automatic.
Then shutdown and restart to begin using the new version.
Upgrading From Versions PRIOR to 1.02
=====================================
If you have a previous version already installed then follow these
instructions:
1. Run the new zsinst utility manually as follows:
zsinst -d
(the -d switch is a new automatic deinstall function)
2. Reboot the system (Not Ctrl-Alt-Del)
3. Run the installation as per the on-line documentation
(That is use the device drive install utility from the desktop).
4. Reboot, and that's it.
Note: If you have modified the standard installation setup then you will have
to manually deinstall ZipStream yourself, but try zsinst -d first!
Deinstallation
==============
Deinstallation is now automatic (if you have a standard installation),
run
zsinst -d
If you have a non standard installation, use zsinst -U to clean off the
Desktop.
Evaluation Period
=================
ZipStream may be evaluated for a period of 30 days only!
After 45 days have expired, automatic (de)compression operations
will be suspended.
Files that are compressed on your system after the Evaluation period
has expired may be manually decompressed with the ZSUnpack utility.
