  6. WarpTuner is an OS/2 application which can help you to control
  7. FM-tuner based on a card like SF16-FMI or SF16-FMP ( other models may work
  8. too - please send us your feedback ).

  10.  Requirements:

  12.      Any FM-card from the listed above; 
  13.      OS/2 installed and running. 
  14.      WarpTuner has been succesfully tested under OS/2 Warp 3.0, 
  15.      OS/2 Warp 4.0 with various FixPak's.

  36. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. WarpTuner Main Window ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  38.   Almost all controls  are located in  this window. It consists from 3 parts: 
  39.  
  40.      fm-tuner control block; 
  41.      station list; 
  42.      volume control bar; 
  43.  
  44.   FM-tuner control block
  45.  
  46.    FM-tuner control block consist of several buttons: 
  47.  
  48.      mute 
  49.      search 
  50.      add a new station 
  51.      fine tuning 
  52.      station properties 
  53.  
  54.  Also, in any part of  the program window you can call a pop-up menu using 
  55.  right mouse button.

  58. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Mute button ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  60. If you want to turn the sound off  or on , you must push this button. 
  61.  
  62. Hey, you need a mouse for it, there is no keyboard support - sorry.

  65. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.2. New Station ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  67. Press  button and you will be prompted to enter the new station name. After 
  68. succesfull input ( Hmm, can it be an unsuccesfull attempt ? I don't know. ) you 
  69. can find the station name at the end of the list.

  74. If you want to change the station name, or if you want to select a new 
  75. frequency for the selected station - don't be afraid, push  button right now !

  78. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.4. Search ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  80.  button helps you to search  new stations. When you push it, WarpTuner  goes in 
  81. Search Mode, i.e. it automatically scan fm-band from the current  frequency 
  82. till 108.00 MHz. Search process stops if WarpTuner find something  similar to 
  83. FM-station or if it reaches 108.00 MHz bound.

  85.  Also, you can stop Search process manually - just press Search button  again.

  87.  Hey guys - don't inform us about "buttons corruption" while in search mode. 
  88. "It's not a bug, it's a feature !" (C) AE.

  90.  Note:  Search mode doesn't reach everytime  the exact  radio-frequency,  in 
  91. this case  you must use fine-tuning feature to reach a  better sound quality.

  94. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.5. Volume bar ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  96.  Wanna change the volume ? It's so easy ! Point  the mouse cursor anywhere
  97.  in the volume bar area and press left mouse button once. ( If you wish,
  98.  you can press it twice or more times - don't panic, we are not in Wind0ze).
  99.  Sound volume will change correspondly to the volume bar height.
  100.  
  101. FAQ section:  Q:  What can I do, if the volume doesn't change ?
  102.          A1: Try to point more accurately and click again.
  103.          A2: Check the cable's integrity.
  104.          A3: If any progam like Amixer, Mixomat or similar in use,
  105.            you'll have to change the volume using it.

  108. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.6. Fine tuning slider ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  110.  slider allows you to perform finest tuning.

  112. Note:  if you already know a station frequency, try to use the popup menu.

  117. The station list consists of ... right, the list of saved stations !
  118. Each line displays station name and station frequency. To select
  119. a station, press twice (neither less nor more) left mouse button
  120. on the station name.

  122.  All other actions with the station list you can realize via  popup menu.

  137.   Just select Rename, enter a new Name, and (if satisfied) - press OK. 
  138. Otherwise - press Cancel.

  143.   Oh, no, we are not a terrorist team ! This popup menu item just delete 
  144. station name from the list. Don't think less than 5 minutes before pushing OK 
  145. button - there is no way back.

  150.  In the same popup-menu, select Sort item. After that, you can choose sort by

  152.      frequency (ascending),

  155.  Note:  if you didn't select you country in System Setup properly, sort by name 
  156.  item may not work.

  172.  Just enter new frequency value in range between 88.00 and 108.00 MHz. Push OK

  178. Here you can read the most important information - WarpTuner developer's names, 
  179. and the current version number. Don't forget to indicate this number in your 
  180. letter if you wish to send us one more bug-report.

  183. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Hardware settings ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  185.  In this window you can change the main hardware settings like fm-port or 
  186. sb-port address. You may ask me - Why I need it ? Oh. For example, you don't 
  187. know exact values, or may be you have a fm-card with non-standard port 
  188. addresses. So, you have no need to reboot each time after new try. However, 
  189. when you found right values, don't forget to change them in config.sys (see 
  190. turnon.sys section) also.

  192. Note:  It's not 100% safe operation. Theoretically, you can crash your system 
  193. while trying suggested values, because this i/o ports can belong to other 
  194. hardware, not to fm-tuner card.

  196. Default values are: 
  197.  
  198.      FM i/o port = 384 (in hex), 
  199.      SB i/o port = 220 (in hex). 
  200.   If this doesn't work, try i/o 284 (in hex) for FM.

  205. To successfully use WarpTuner, you need to install turnon.sys driver. The best 
  206. way to do it- append to the end of config.sys next line:

  208. device=[path]:\turnon.sys xxx yyy
  209. where 
  210.  
  211. path  - full path to turnon.sys file.
  212. xxx - sb i/o port (in hex);
  213. yyy - fm i/o port (in hex);
  214. For example: 
  215.  
  216. Suppose the turnon.sys file has been placed in root directory of drive C, sb 
  217. i/o port = 220h, and fm i/o port = 384h.

  219. Correct line is: 
  220.  
  221. device=c:\turnon.sys 220 384 
  222.  
  223. If xxx and yyy values are not listed, values 220h and 384h are used as default 
  224. values.
