***************** What is WATCHIT PLUS ? **********************
West Hartford, CT March 27, 1996 - Client Server Networking (CSN)
today is announcing the availability of a new product WATCHIT PLUS.
Delivery is scheduled to begin May 1, 1996.
CSN provides the most cost effective Warp Server utilities available.
Our products operate across all IBM platforms including AS/400, AIX
and MVS/VM. Today we add WATCHIT PLUS to our product list to assist
in the cost control of very complex and labor intensive client-server
projects.
WATCHIT PLUS provides more extensive server management for larger
and more complex configurations than those supported by our current
product WATCHIT. WATCHIT PLUS will not replace WATCHIT which will
continue to remain the primary tool for one server management.
From a single location WATCHIT PLUS provides the ability to monitor
all the servers in the domain.
WATCHIT PLUS easily makes accessible all the information needed
to optimize any IBM LAN SERVER. From a single OS/2 platform WATCHIT
PLUS collects data from OS2 WARP, AIX, MVS/VM, or AS/400 implementations
of the IBM Lan Server. WATCHIT PLUS collects statistics about resource
and user activity to be graphically analyzed to improve performance and
anticipate capacity problems.
During the data collection process the LAN administrator may select
to display continuously updated graphs of Mean Response; Shares in use;
Sessions; Traffic Received; Traffic Sent and a display of Current
Sessions and Current Shares in use.
Even though WATCHIT PLUS provides instant analysis, a thoughtful
detailed examination of the data can still occur after the collection period.
WATCHIT PLUS analysis programs include graphs of 14 significant
LAN Server characteristics. Resource usage levels are compared to the
operational IBMLAN.INI control file. Each display of a sample provides
sixteen items of detail for the collection period. Additional analysis
provides session connections; file opens by user and Alias by usage.
WATCHIT PLUS also provides detailed reports and graphs for future reference.
Features:
* Total domain management from a single product.
* LAN SERVER 3.0 and 4.0 and Warp are fully supported.
* While monitoring servers you may select to display continually
updated graphs of Mean response, Shares in use, active Sessions,
Traffic received and Traffic sent.
* Display the status of current sessions and shares in use.
* Automated and scheduled data collection.
* Dynamic display of all available servers and notification of failure.
* Analysis of collected data includes:
- Graphs of 14 significant LAN Server characteristics.
- Actual usage levels are compared to your IBMLAN.INI
- Graph session connections and file opens by user.
- Graph resource usage by Alias.
- Print detail reports and graphs for future reference.
* Statistical data is exportable for use in your favorite spreadsheet
or database.
******** Some Beta tester comments: *********
"The product looks like it will fit a need in our lan environment."
"I have used System View in the past which is a good package but
seems to require more overhead than WATCHIT PLUS. WATCHIT PLUS
is also a lot easier to use."
"Since I am the only one maintaining the system (hardware, admin,
soup-to-nuts) anything that will help me monitor system performance
will be a big help."
