  6.  1. Installieren Sie PSCFG laut Installationsanweisung.

  21.     PSCFG/2:   Selektieren mit rechten Maustaste: es erscheint eine kleine
  22.                Men}liste mit mehreren Auswahlm║glichkeiten, z.B.:

  26.                - Teile Information .. die allgemeine Beschreibung

  28.  5. Zur Erleichterung der Auswahl werden Teilenummer, Preis und m║gliche
  29.     Benutzerdaten angezeigt.

  31.  6. Mit Doppeldruck linke Maustaste oder 'Ausw{hlen' System selektieren.

  33.     Anmerkung - es gibt zwei weitere M║glichkeiten auf diesem Men}:

  36.       die Funktionen 'Zur}ck' wurden wiederholt gew}nscht, aber bitte VORSICHT,
  37.       alle Eingaben der vorherigen Men}s werden gel║scht|

  39.  7. -> Konfiguration -> Optionen Hinzuf}gen (oder Strg-o)
  40.     -> Bildschirme -> G-Serie -> G72

  42.      Auch hier wie bei der Systemauswahl:  Details aufzeigen oder

  45.      > Bitte einen Monitor ausw{hlen, die roten Indikatoren bedeuten, da~ kein

  48.  8. Vom Men} mit den gr}nen und roten Indikatoren kann zum n{chsten Abschnitt

  70.      In dem Fenster: Resource Monitor Frei / Total k║nnen Sie die derzeitige
  71.      Belegung der jeweils ausgew{hlten Resource sehen, wie Einsch}be,
  72.      Steckpl{tze, Sockeln und die derzeitige Summe der Plattenspeicher.

  74.  11. Mit > kommen Sie zu weiteren Seiten:  B{nder, Adapter, Erw. Garantie ...

  76.  12. Auswahl fortsetzen, mit 'Ende' zum Ausgabemen}.

  78.  13. Mit -> Konfiguration -> Kundeninformation -> Konfigurations-Name eingeben,
  79.      dieser Name erscheint im Men}kopf und beim Konfigurations-Icon.

  81.  14. Mit -> File -> Sichern, zB. als: NF3500t1.cff

  83.  15. Jetzt ist die Konfiguration fertig und kann mit

  85.      File -> Export Text, oder Export f}r Excel weiterverarbeitet werden.

  88.  Wie lange hat es gedauert?
  89.  Nicht so schlecht, aber einige weitere wichtige Funktionen ben║tigen Sie noch:

  92.  16. Vor dem Drucken ist die Druckerdefinition durchzuf}hren:

  94.      Auswahl am ersten PSCFG Men}:

  96.       -> Einstellungen -> Einstellungen -(>>)--> Drucker -> Ausw{hlen

  98.       Bitte unbedingt beachten:

  100.       -> die Funktion 'Anwenden' ausw{hlen, 'Fertig', dann

  102.       -> Einstellungen -> Sichern Einstellungen -> PSCFG.PRM

  104.  17. PSCFG beenden:
  105.  
  106.      PSCFG/2 -> Datei -> Schlie~en (oder F3) PSCFG beenden, eventuell noch
  107.      nicht gesicherte Konfigurationen speichern und PSCFG neu starten.

  109.      PSCFG/W -> Schlie~en oder Ctrl+F4 beenden, eventuell noch nicht
  110.      gesicherte Konfigurationen speichern und PSCFG neu starten.

  112.  18. Mit 'Datei' -> Laden -> Auto  oder  'Datei' -> Laden -> ║ffnen
  113.      lassen sich sehr schnell {ltere Konfigurationen mit der neuesten
  114.      Konfigurator-Logik }berpr}fen und ¢nderungen sind leicht feststellen.

  117.  Es gibt zwei weitere M║glichkeiten zum Auffinden des gew}nschten
  118.  Systems:
  119.  
  120.  19. -> Information -> Quick Lookup -> Teilenummer. zB: 421XEGE oder 1EELQ und
  121.      -> Lookup sehen Sie alle Details. Handelt es sich um ein System, so kann
  122.      man mit 'Konfiguriere' sofort mit dem Konfigurieren beginnen.

  124.  20. Bei Teilenummer 422ZSLL handelt es sich um einen alten Server 720.
  125.  
  126.      Beachten Sie unter o Storage -> SCSI Laufwerke (intern) -> HardWare f.
  127.      HotPlug LW...(1.Erw.) werden immer noch Erweiterungen angeboten, nat}rlich
  128.      auch Festplatten.

  130.  21. Funktion --> Konfiguration -> Suche }ber Matrix (Needs Assist), dann die
  131.      Auswahlkriterien, z.B.:

  133.      Desktop, Prof.Workstation =>  ausw{hlen

  135.      Prozessor Geschwindigkeit => 266MHz  'Setzen' (gleich oder gr║~er)

  137.      PlattenPlatz              => 3000MB  'Setzen'

  139.      Verkaufspreis exkl.MWSt.  <  xxxx    'Setzen'  und  'Submit'

  141.      Die Funktionen 'Zeige Details' und 'Teile Information' geben auch hier
  142.      wertvolle Details zur exakten Beurteilung der Produkte. Mit 'Konfigure'
  143.      kann sofort mit dem Konfigurieren begonnen werden.

  145.  22. Optionen, welche nicht mehr verf}gbar sind aber immer wieder ben║tigt
  146.      werden, wie Hauptspeicher oder Installation Kits, werden jetzt als
  147.      Ersatzteile angeboten. Diese sind durch ein 'f' vor der Ersatzteilnummer
  148.      gekennzeichnet (FRU Teilenummer).
  149.  
  150.  23. !ber die Systemmauswahl Type-Mod oder Information -> Look-Up k║nnen Sie
  151.      jetzt schnell nach Type-Modell suchen, dies ist vor allem f}r alte Systeme
  152.      von Bedeutung.

  154.  24. Die Funktion: Information -> Look-Up unterst}tzt die Suche nach Type-
  155.      Modell, wie auch Volltext-Suche.

  157.  25. Die Hilfe-Funktion gibt auch weitere Erkl{rungen der Funktionen des jeweils
  158.      aktiven Men}s (in Englisch).

  160.  26. Mit -> Konfiguration -> Resourcen sind sowohl Uebersichten wie Details
  161.      zu verwendeten und verf}gbaren Resourcen ersichtlich.

  194.     data can be provided already at the decission level.

  198.     Note - you have two more choises: No/Next or Previouse, the last one is of
  199.     special importance in case of a mistake in longer specification flow.
  200.     Attention: this function cancels your previouse selection(s)|

  202.  7. -> Configuration -> Add Optiones (oder Ctrl-o)

  204.     o Monitors -> G-Serie -> G72

  208.     Please select one monitor. Now the red indicators show you that only one
  209.     monitor is supported on the system.

  211.  8. From the menu with the + (OS/2 red / green) indicators you can switch to
  212.     other option tags, like

  214.     -> Memory -> Migration with ECC SDRAM DIMM

  217.     -> mark: select by quantity

  221.     -> Select  |this is needed to accept your selection,

  226.  9. Extras offer options like system accessories, prozessor upgrades, L2-cache
  227.     and Video-RAM migrations.

  229.  10. Storage -> Fast/Wide SCSI Drives (intern) --- select harddisks,

  232.  11. Windows User: Use the > or >> to see the remaining tags like Tape Drives,
  233.      CD-ROM, Adapters, Ext. Warranty/Software.

  235.  12. continue options selections, with the 'Close' buttom you return to the
  236.      output menu.

  238.  13. -> Configuration -> Customer information -> Configuration name, add
  239.      any text, which describes the configuration best, it becomes the name of
  240.      the menu and the Icon.

  242.  14. With -> File -> Save as sv3500t1.cff you save the configuration file.

  244.  15. You have now completed your configuration, with a
  245.  
  246.      File -> Export Text, e.g. as ASCII file: 330plt01.cfd or export to Excel
  247.              you have the data ready for further processing.

  249.      How much time did you need? Not so bad, but here ...

  251. are some more functions:

  253.  16. You need a printout? Before you have once to define your default printer:
  254.      On the main window use
  255.  
  256.      PSCFG/W: Settings -> Printer setup  .... Specific Printer - extend the
  257.      selection and choose your default printer -> OK.

  259.      PSCFG/2 is similar, you need the (>) or (>>)  to see the Printer tab, and
  260.      you need the 'Apply' function to keep any changes.

  262.      This setup will become your default by
  263.      -> Settings -> Save settings _styles... -> pscfgw.prm

  266.  17. close PSCFG:
  267.  
  268.      PSCFG/2 -> File  -> Close (or F3) stops PSCF, you might have to
  269.      save the current configurationen and start PSCFG again.

  271.      PSCFG/W -> Close or Ctrl+F4 stops PSCFG, you might have to save
  272.      the current configurationen and start PSCFG again.

  274.  18. File -> Load -> Auto  or  File -> Load Config -> filename you can
  275.      validate older Configurations very fast, the new logic is used and
  276.      changes will be indicated.

  279. You have two more functions for a fast search for a system or options:

  281.  19. -> Pricing -> Quick Lookup -> partnumber like: 421XE or 1EELQ and
  282.      -> Lookup returns all matches. The sample is a system, so you immediately
  283.         can use 'Configure' to start.
  284.  
  285.  20. Partnumber 422ZSLL is an old Server 720.
  286.  
  287.      You can still find options, like under
  288.      -> Storage -> SCSI Drives(intern) -> HardWare f.HotPlug Drive (1.Migration)
  289.         the Backplanes and cables as well as Harddisks in a very user-friendly
  290.         way.

  292.  21. Another new function --> Configuration -> Needs Assist, and the selection
  293.      parameters, e.g.:

  295.      Desktop, Prof.Workstation =  select
  296.      Prozessor speed           => 266MHz  'Set' equal or higher
  297.      Disksize                  =>3000MB   'Set' "
  298.      Price excl.VAT.            <  xxxx   'Set' and 'Submit'.

  300.      The functions 'Show details' und 'Parts Information' give you additional
  301.      informations for the best choise.
  302.      Again with 'Configure' you can immediatly start configuring.

  304.  22. Often required but withdrawn optiones are still offered, like parts for
  305.      Memory Upgrades or Installation Kits and cables. An 'f' prefix indicates
  306.      such a spare part number (FRU).
  307.  
  308.  23. With the System Tab Type-Mod you get now a fast Type-Model search
  309.      facility, which is especially important to fastly locate old systems,
  310.      like 8595-*.
  311.  
  312.  24. The funktion  Information -> Look-Up now supports the search by Type-Model
  313.      or for full text.
  314.  
  315.  25. Specific 'Help' is available depending on the menu it is called.
  316.  
  317.  26. With -> Configuration -> Resources you get the summary and the details
  318.      of the present resource usage.
  319.
