  17. The complete product consists of the following seven files: (WSOS21.EXE)
  18. contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE) contains the requester files,
  19. (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE)
  20. contains the LAN drivers, (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON
  21. utilities, (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  22. format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  34. This product contains the following enhancements:

  50. The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 electronic documentation is now
  51. available in native OS/2 format.  Because the native OS/2 formatting does not
  52. require much disk space, the documentation is now available as a standard part
  53. of the client kit download rather than as a separate download from NetWire.

  68. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11
  69.  
  70. This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before December 19,
  71. 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  72.  
  73. NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare Requester 1.3 for
  74. OS/2 instead of this product.
  75.  
  76. The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven self-extracting
  77. files:
  78.      WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  79.      WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files
  80.      WSOS23.EXE contains the Windows libraries and RPL files
  81.      WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  82.      OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  83.      OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format
  84.      OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM Boot diskette image
  85.  
  86. Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can be used to
  87. complete the installation of the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11:
  88.  
  89. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  90. Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  91. Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  92.  
  93. Instructions for each method follow.

  97. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  98.  
  99. NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client software already
  100. installed on your workstation and be connected to the network in order to use
  101. this install method.  You cannot install to and from the same drive. Example:
  102. You cannot install from C: to C:
  103.  
  104. 1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk, you must have
  105. adequate disk space to allow for the client to install. (about 4 MB)
  106.  
  107. 2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.  This directory can
  108. be deleted later.
  109.  
  110.      Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  111.  
  112.           MD TEMP
  113.  
  114. 3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  115. OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self extracting file will
  116. automatically create the required subdirectories.  Change to the directory
  117. where WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  118. OS2DC1.EXE reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.

  120.      Example:  At the command line, type
  121.  
  122.           WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  123.  
  124. Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will extract all the
  125. files into the TEMP subdirectory.
  126.

  128. 4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP directory and type
  129. INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 Installation screen will appear. Follow
  130. the instructions that appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on
  131. the workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive letter as the
  132. target directory.

  134. 5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  138. Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  139.  
  140. 1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  141.  
  142. 2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  143.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  144.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  145.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  146.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  147.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  148.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  149.  
  150.      Example:  At the command line, type
  151.  
  152.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  153.  
  154. 2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.  The correct
  155. directory structure will be created automatically on the diskettes.
  156. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.

  158.      Example:  At the command line, type
  159.  
  160.           WSOS21 A:
  161.  
  162. 3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled WSOS2_1
  163. diskette in drive A.
  164.  
  165. 4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program. 
  166. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  167.  
  168. 5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  169. install.

  173. Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  174.  
  175. 1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk: WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2,
  176. WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  177.  
  178.      Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  179.  
  180.           MD WSOS2_1
  181.  
  182. 2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding subdirectories, the
  183. correct directory structure will be created in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE
  184. into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.

  186.      Example:  At the command line, type
  187.  
  188.           WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  189.  
  190. 3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  191.  
  192. 4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  193.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  194.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  195.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  196.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  197.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  198.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  200. Example:  At the command line, type
  201.  
  202.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  203.  
  204. 5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  205.  
  206. 6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.
  207.  
  208. 7.   Type the following at the command line:
  209.  
  210.           XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  211.  
  212. 8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes. Ensure that the
  213. files are copied from the correct directory to the corresponding labelled
  214. diskettes.
  215.  
  216. 9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  217.  
  218. 10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program. 
  219. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  220.  
  221. 11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  222. install.

  225. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  226.  
  227. OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7 image utility
  228. (DISKCOPY.COM).
  229.  
  230. IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS workstation, not
  231. from an OS/2 DOS session.
  232.  
  233. Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  234.  
  235. 1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named VLMBOOT.
  236.  
  237. 2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  238.  
  239. 3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  240.  
  241. 4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  242.  
  243. 5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
  244.  
  245. 6.  Create the image disk by typing DISKCOPY VLMBOOT.350 A:
  246.  
  247. 7.  For more information about VLM Boot, refer to the NetWare Client for OS/2
  248. version 2.11 User Guide in both printed and online formats.
