  17. The complete product consists of the following seven files: (WSOS21.EXE)
  18. contains the installation program, (WSOS22.EXE) contains the requester files,
  19. (WSOS23.EXE) contains the Windows libraries and RPL files, (WSDRV1.EXE)
  20. contains the LAN drivers, (OS2UT1.EXE) contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON
  21. utilities, (OS2DC1.EXE) contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF
  22. format, and (OS2VMB.EXE) contains the VLM Boot diskette image.

  50. The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 electronic documentation is now
  51. available in native OS/2 format.  Because the native OS/2 formatting does not
  52. require much disk space, the documentation is now available as a standard part
  53. of the client kit download rather than as a separate download from NetWire.

  69. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS for the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11
  70.  
  71. This client product supports all OS/2 2.x releases made before December 19,
  72. 1994, and replaces all previous 2.x versions of the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  73.  
  74. NOTE: If you have OS/2 1.3, you need to obtain the NetWare Requester 1.3 for
  75. OS/2 instead of this product.
  76.  
  77. The NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 consists of seven self-extracting
  78. files:
  79.      WSOS21.EXE contains the installation program
  80.      WSOS22.EXE contains the requester files
  81.      WSOS23.EXE contains the Windows libraries and RPL files
  82.      WSDRV1.EXE contains the LAN drivers
  83.      OS2UT1.EXE contains LOGIN, NLIST, MAP, CX, SYSCON utilities
  84.      OS2DC1.EXE contains the electronic documentation in OS/2 IPF format
  85.      OS2VMB.EXE contains the VLM Boot diskette image
  86.  
  87. Once these files are downloaded, there are 3 methods that can be used to
  88. complete the installation of the NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11:
  89.  
  90. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  91. Method 2: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  92. Method 3: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  93.  
  94. Instructions for each method follow.

  98. Method 1: Extract to Network Drive/Install From Network Drive
  99.  
  100. NOTE:     You must have a version of the NetWare Client software already
  101. installed on your workstation and be connected to the network in order to use
  102. this install method.  You cannot install to and from the same drive. Example:
  103. You cannot install from C: to C:
  104.  
  105. 1.   To install the NetWare Client software to your hard disk, you must have
  106. adequate disk space to allow for the client to install. (about 4 MB)
  107.  
  108. 2.   At the network drive, create a directory called TEMP.  This directory can
  109. be deleted later.
  110.  
  111.      Example:  At the J:\ prompt, type
  112.  
  113.           MD TEMP
  114.  
  115. 3.   Extract WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  116. OS2DC1.EXE into the TEMP directory.  The self extracting file will
  117. automatically create the required subdirectories.  Change to the directory
  118. where WSOS21.EXE, WSOS22.EXE, WSOS23.EXE, WSDRV1.EXE, OS2UT1.EXE, and
  119. OS2DC1.EXE reside.  DO NOT change to the TEMP directory.

  121.      Example:  At the command line, type
  122.  
  123.           WSOS21 J:\TEMP\
  124.  
  125. Do this for each self extracting file in turn.  This will extract all the
  126. files into the TEMP subdirectory.

  129. 4.   In an OS/2 Command Line Session, CD into the TEMP directory and type
  130. INSTALL.  The NetWare Client for OS/2 Installation screen will appear. Follow
  131. the instructions that appear on the screen to install the NetWare Requester on
  132. the workstation. NOTE: Make sure and place the local disk drive letter as the
  133. target directory.
  134.  
  135. 5.   Delete your TEMP directory if desired.

  139. Method 2: Extract to Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  140.  
  141. 1.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  142.  
  143. 2.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  144.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  145.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  146.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  147.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  148.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  149.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1
  150.  
  151.      Example:  At the command line, type
  152.  
  153.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  154.  
  155. 2.   Extract the .EXE files to their corresponding diskettes.  The correct
  156. directory structure will be created automatically on the diskettes.
  157. Self-extract WSOS21.EXE onto WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE onto WSOS2_2, etc.

  159.      Example:  At the command line, type
  160.  
  161.           WSOS21 A:
  162.  
  163. 3.   After creating the six diskettes, insert the disk labeled WSOS2_1
  164. diskette in drive A.
  165.  
  166. 4.   Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program.
  167. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  168.  
  169. 5.   Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  170. install.

  174. Method 3: Extract to Hard Drive/Make Diskettes/Install From Diskettes
  175.  
  176. 1.   Create the following subdirectories on your hard disk: WSOS2_1, WSOS2_2,
  177. WSOS2_3, WSDRV_1, OS2UTIL_1, and OS2DOC_1.
  178.  
  179.      Example:  At the C:\ prompt, type
  180.  
  181.           MD WSOS2_1
  182.  
  183. 2.   Extract the .EXE files into their corresponding subdirectories, the
  184. correct directory structure will be created in each subdirectory.  WSOS21.EXE
  185. into WSOS2_1, WSOS22.EXE into WSOS2_2, etc.

  187.      Example:  At the command line, type
  188.  
  189.           WSOS21 C:\WSOS2_1\
  190.  
  191. 3.   Format six 3.5" high density double-sided diskettes.
  192.  
  193. 4.   Label each diskette with the following names:
  194.      Disk 1    WSOS2_1
  195.      Disk 2    WSOS2_2
  196.      Disk 3    WSOS2_3
  197.      Disk 4    WSDRV_1
  198.      Disk 5    OS2UTIL1
  199.      Disk 6    OS2DOC_1

  201. Example:  At the command line, type
  202.  
  203.           Label A: WSOS2_1
  204.  
  205. 5.   Insert diskette labelled WSOS2_1 into drive A:.
  206.  
  207. 6.   Change directory to WSOS2_1 on your hard disk.
  208.  
  209. 7.   Type the following at the command line:
  210.  
  211.           XCOPY *.* /S /E /V A:
  212.  
  213. 8.   Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the remaining five diskettes. Ensure that the
  214. files are copied from the correct directory to the corresponding labelled
  215. diskettes.
  216.  
  217. 9.   After creating the six diskettes, insert WSOS2_1 diskette in drive A.
  218.  
  219. 10.  Open the drive A: icon on your desktop and open the INSTALL.EXE program. 
  220. The NetWare Client for OS/2 install screen appears.
  221.  
  222. 11.  Follow the instructions on the screen or in the manual to complete the
  223. install.

  226. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR VLM BOOT
  227.  
  228. OS2VMB.EXE contains a DOS boot image file and a Novell DOS 7 image utility
  229. (DISKCOPY.COM).
  230.  
  231. IMPORTANT:  DISKCOPY.COM can only be run from an actual DOS workstation, not
  232. from an OS/2 DOS session.
  233.  
  234. Instructions for Creating the VLM Boot Diskette:
  235.  
  236. 1.  On the actual DOS workstation, create a subdirectory named VLMBOOT.
  237.  
  238. 2.  Copy OS2VMB.EXE to the newly created VLMBOOT directory.
  239.  
  240. 3.  Extract OS2VMB.EXE by running it.
  241.  
  242. 4.  Insert a 1.44 MB formatted diskette into drive A:.
  243.  
  244. 5.  Change to the VLMBOOT subdirectory.
  245.  
  246. 6.  Create the image disk by typing DISKCOPY VLMBOOT.350 A:
  247.  
  248. 7.  For more information about VLM Boot, refer to the NetWare Client for OS/2
  249. version 2.11 User Guide in both printed and online formats.
