  31.          Welcome to the IBM Networks Coordinated Logon Client for Windows NT
  32.          (hereinafter called IBM Networks Client). IBM Networks Client is an
  33.          add on to the Microsoft Windows NT Network function.  It provides
  34.          your Windows NT system with all of the IBM OS/2 Warp Server
  35.          functions, such as:
  36.  
  37.            *   Connecting to home directories
  38.            *   Setting up and connecting to logon assignments
  39.            *   Running shared applications
  40.            *   Connecting to aliases
  41.            *   Checking DASD limits
  42.  
  43.          IBM Networks Client performs a secondary logon validation to an
  44.          IBM OS/2 Warp Server domain after Windows NT successfully logs on.
  45.          Your home directory and logon assignments are automatically connected.

  48.     2.0 Prerequisites

  51.          You must have the following prerequisite components installed on
  52.          your system before you can install IBM Networks Client:
  53.  
  54.            *   The Microsoft Workstation service
  55.            *   An appropriate network adapter device driver
  56.            *   A supported protocol (either NetBEUI or TCP/IP)

  63.          To verify that you have the prerequisite components installed:
  64.  
  65.            1.  Click Start button, point to Settings, and then click
  66.                Control Panel.
  67.            2.  Double-click Network.
  68.            3.  From the Services and Protocols tabs you can view the
  69.                components that are currently installed.

  76.         3.1  Installing from Diskette

  78.              To install from diskette:
  79.  
  80.                1.  Log on to the system as a user with Administrator privilege.
  81.                2.  Click Start button, point to Settings, and then click
  82.                    Control Panel.
  83.                3.  Double-click Network.  The Network notebook is displayed.
  84.                4.  Click the Services tab.
  85.                5.  Click Add... button.  The Select Network Service window is
  86.                    displayed.
  87.                6.  Click Have Disk... button.  The Insert Disk window is
  88.                    displayed.
  89.                7.  Insert the IBM Networks Coordinated Logon Client for Windows
  90.                    NT diskette into the A: drive, and then click OK.  The OEM
  91.                    Option window is displayed.
  92.                8.  Select IBM Networks Coordinated Logon Client for Windows NT,
  93.                    and then click OK.  The IBM Networks Client Properties
  94.                    notebook is displayed, after the files are copied.
  95.                9.  Click the General tab.
  96.               10.  In the Domain name box, type the name of the default logon
  97.                    IBM OS/2 Warp Server domain.
  98.               11.  In the Alternate domain name box, if you want to use an
  99.                    alternate domain, type the name of the alternate domain.
  100.               12.  Click the Advanced tab.
  101.               13.  If you select the button to allow the domain to determine
  102.                    which server will validate your logon, you may change the
  103.                    Logon Broadcast Attempts and Logon Broadcast Wait settings.
  104.               14.  If you select the button to specify the name of your logon
  105.                    server, you must enter the name of the logon server.
  106.               15.  Click OK.  The Network notebook is displayed.
  107.               16.  Click Close.  The Network Settings Change window is
  108.                    displayed.
  109.               17.  Click Yes to restart your system.

  116.         3.2  Installing Windows NT Service Pack
  117.  
  118.              Before you install a Windows NT service pack on top of a
  119.              workstation that has the IBM Networks Client currently
  120.              installed, do the following:
  121.  
  122.                1.  Uninstall the IBM Networks Client.
  123.                2.  Install the service pack on Windows NT.
  124.                3.  Install the IBM Networks Client.

  131.         4.1  Coordinating the User Accounts
  132.  
  133.              Your Windows NT user account and your IBM OS/2 Warp Server domain
  134.              user account must be synchronized.  You must have a Windows NT
  135.              user account whose username and password also exist in a IBM OS/2
  136.              Warp Server domain.  To coordinate the user accounts do one of
  137.              the following:
  138.  
  139.               o  If you have a Windows NT user account with a username that is
  140.                  the same as your IBM Warp Server domain account username, then
  141.                  you must change the password on your Windows NT account to be
  142.                  the same as your password on the IBM Warp Server domain user
  143.                  account.

  145.               o  If you DO NOT have a Windows NT user account with a username
  146.                  that is the same as your IBM Warp Server domain account
  147.                  username, then you must create one.  Use the Windows NT User
  148.                  Manager utility to create your Windows NT account.

  151.         4.2  Logging On

  153.              To logon:

  155.                1.  After completing the installation process, restart your
  156.                    Windows NT session.  The logon window is displayed.
  157.                2.  Type your network password.
  158.                3.  Click OK to begin validation of your IBM Networks Client
  159.                    logon.

  166.         4.3  Starting the Graphical User Interface

  168.              To start the graphical user interface:
  169.  
  170.                1.  Click Start button, and then click Programs.
  171.                2.  Click IBM Networks Client.
  172.                3.  Click IBM Networks Client.

  174.              Note: To view and connect network resources, use the IBM
  175.                    Neighborhood Browser Enabler for OS/2 Warp Server.

  178.         4.4 Displaying the Users Guide

  180.              To view the Users Guide:
  181.  
  182.                1.  Click Start button, point to Programs, and then click
  183.                    IBM Networks Client.
  184.                2.  Click IBM Networks Client Users Guide.

  188.         4.5 Keeping Your Password Synchronized

  190.              To change your password:
  191.  
  192.                1.  Log on to the Windows NT workstation.
  193.                2.  From the Windows NT desktop, press CTRL+ALT+DEL.  The
  194.                    Windows NT Security window is displayed.
  195.                3.  Click Change Password.  The Change Password window is
  196.                    displayed.
  197.                4.  Type your old password, new password and confirm new
  198.                    password.
  199.                5.  Click OK.
  200.                6.  Your password will be updated on Windows NT and then on the
  201.                    IBM OS/2 Warp Server domain.

  211.         To uninstall:

  213.            1.  Log on to the system as a user with administrator privilege.
  214.            2.  Click Start button, point to Settings, and then click
  215.                Control Panel.
  216.            3.  Double-click Network.  The Network notebook is displayed.
  217.            4.  Click Services tab.
  218.            5.  From the Network Services list, click IBM Networks Coordinated
  219.                Logon Client.
  220.            6.  Click Remove.
  221.            7.  Click Yes.
  222.            8.  Click Close.
  223.            9.  Restart your system.
  224.           10.  Log on to the system as a user with administrator privilege to
  225.                complete the update of Registry entries and the removal of the
  226.                IBM Networks Client files.
