│ DELETE ME FIRST! │
└──────────────────┘
If you're like me (God help you, if you are), you probably unzip an
archive you've leeched and go through the directory and delete every
file named "Read.Me", "ReadMe.1st", "History.txt", "File_id.diz" and
especially those nasty "Register.txt" files.
I made a vow when I started programming that I wouldn't clutter up the
archives I release with that kind of nonsense. So, hopefully, you were
curious enough to read this "DeleteMe.1st" file <G>

Unfortunately (for me), this program is Free Ware (I'll wait until the
cheering dies down a bit..............................................)
But, if you have any cool MST3K files you'd like to send me, please do!
I use a PC clone & can handle 3.5 1.44 mb floppies, QIC80 tapes & Iomega
Zip disks. Email me for my address. I'll return your disk(s) full of stuff
from my huge archive of MST3K files (a 100 mb. Zip disk almost full).

│ The History of This OS/2 Program │
└────────────────────────────────────┘
Version 0.1 - Beta versions. Fine-tuned the mechanics of the program.
through
Version 0.9
Version 1.0 - First version. General, all-purpose menu-driven MST3K EpGuide
32 bit OS/2 character based program (Runs in either full
screen or in an OS/2 window on your desktop).
Version 1.1 - Corrected a few misspellings, incorrect data fields & instances
of unknown data thanks to beta tester Eric Szulczewski.
I included a snazzy, new icon for the A.E.G. in the archive!
(Be sure to use the OS/2 version of UnZip to extract from this
archive or the EAs on this icon will be lost!)
New feature: If the user specifies a MST3K episode number on
the command line at run-time, the A.E.G. will go directly to
that episode, and then exit back to OS/2. This is handy for
when you just want to quickly check on a certain episode.
Valid episode codes for this feature follow...
KTMA Era: K01 - K22 Season One: 101 - 113
Season Two: 201 - 213 Season Three: 301 - 324
Season Four: 401 - 424 Season Five: 501 - 524
Season Six: 601 - 624
Also, there may be an "Easter egg" or two in the program.
See if you can find any! Email me if you find any, or if
you give up & want a hint or two.

│ Known Bugs & Problems │
└─────────────────────────┘
While on one of the EpInfo screens, if the user hits an extended key to
get back to the previous menu (ie: a cursor key, an F1-12 key, etc.), the
NEXT time they pick an episode to view, the EpInfo screen doesn't wait for
the next keystroke. It flashes on the screen briefly & goes right back to
the previous menu screen. This is caused by the fact that extended keys
have "two" values, whereas normal keys have just one. This "extra" keystroke
is in the keyboard buffer before the user even gets to the second EpInfo
screen and the program doesn't wait there, it just dumps the user back to
the previous menu. I will try & fix this problem if I can find where it's
freaking out.

│ Big Plans For The Future │
└────────────────────────────┘
Whenever the seventh season of MST3K debuts (a piddly six episodes), I'll
add those shows to the menu. We also have the upcoming MST3K cinematic debut
to look forward to & I'll include a "MST3K: The Movie" section eventually.
I'll probably add some printing routines so you can print out a brief
episode list, eps by season, a particular episode by itself or a full
blown, everthing-included EpGuide.
I want to add some global search routines so you can enter a word like
"popcorn" and the program will bring up the GODZILLA VS. MEGALON page &
highlight the "Popcorn Heir" host segment field. I think this would be
handy for people who want to find a certain song or sketch & don't know
where to start looking. Or they could enter "Ed Wood" and the program
would bring up all Ed Wood movies featured on MST3K so they can avoid
them like the plague. Neat idea, let's hope I can implement it.
I'd really like to add some multi-media stuff to the program, like
sound clips or maybe some pictures but I'll have to hone my chops as
a programmer, first <G>
If I *ever* learn how to program for the OS/2 Presentation Manager, I
may release a PM version of the Automated EpGuide.
A DOS version which is basically the same program as this OS/2 version
has finally seen the light of day. Look for it where you grabbed this
OS/2 version.
I have no experience with programming Windows, so I'm not sure if I'll
do a Windows version. Demand for such a critter and my own level of
incompetence in Windows programming will dictate whether or not such a
version will be released.
A WinNT version? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Good one! Get real!
A When95 version? Very doubtful. I'm not a Micro$oft lemming, so my computer
wouldn't touch Win95 with a ten foot parallel cable.
A MAC version? Even more doubtful, since I don't own a Mac & don't know
anyone who does.
A Unix version? Doubtful. I know *I* won't be doing one. I may make some
arrangements with a fellow MSTie who's currently a *nix user. Don't hold
your breath, though.
A Pet, Vic20 C64, C128, Amiga, Timex Sinclair, TI or CoCo version? Jeeeez!
It's the 90s, people!!! Isn't it about time you upgraded your computer?
Future A.E.G.'s? I've been playing around with the idea of maybe using the
MST3K A.E.G. "engine" for various other TV Show episode guides, now that I
have hopefully gotten all the kinks out of the program. Porting the A.E.G.
to other TV Shows depends on availability of information/FAQs/Lists for the
given show (and how well the information can be translated to a single screen).
If you're interested in seeing an A.E.G. for your favorite show, contact me
via one of the methods described below.

Extra special thanks to Frank Miller, my C programming guru. If it weren't
for Frank, I probably would've given up on C programming within the first
few days. He has helped me solve many of my seemingly endless beginner's
problems.
Thanks to Matthew Duhan who maintains the various MST3K FAQs & EpGuides.
I used a lot of the info on the earlier seasons from the EpGuide. Also
in the information department, I'd like to thank Stephen Manfred, Robert
Bukowski & Jeff Wisniewski for shedding further light on the fabled KTMA
era episodes. Luckily, I found their messages on r.a.t.m. in time to do
a bit of updating to the KTMA data structures before releasing the first
version of the A.E.G. Robert also gave me some information on four movies
that I couldn't find in any of my ancient Maltin guides. Chad Gould sent
me some info on those four movies, as well.
Also thanks to my Beta testers Eric Szulczewski & Stewart Angel who have
pointed out a few problems that slipped by me in the development of both
versions of this program.
Super-Duper thanks with a ram chip on top to the Best Brains for producing
the funniest show on TV! Now, hire me to work on a MST3K CD!
