  2. Multi-Server Tool Installation Instructions

  5. 1. Visual Basic Run-time Libraries
  6.  
  7. In order to minimise the size of the distribution file, this
  8. Multi-Server Tool package does not include the Visual Basic 4
  9. 16-bit run-time libraries that are required to installation and
  10. run the program.
  11.  
  12. If you have previously installed a 16-bit Visual Basic 4
  13. application on your PC then these run-time libraries will already
  14. be installed. You can use VB416CHK.BAT to determine if the
  15. libraries are installed or manually check that the following files
  16. exist in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:

  18.      COMPOBJ.DLL
  19.      CTL3DV2.DLL
  20.      OC25.DLL
  21.      OLE2.REG
  22.      OLE2.DLL
  23.      OLE2CONV.dll
  24.      OLE2DISP.dll
  25.      OLE2NLS.DLL
  26.      OLE2PROX.dll
  27.      SCP.DLL
  28.      STDOLE.TLB
  29.      STORAGE.DLL
  30.      TYPELIB.DLL
  31.      VAEN21.OLB
  32.      VB40016.DLL

  34. Even if you have all these files installed they may prove to be an
  35. older version. The files need to be registered in windows so
  36. copying the missing files from another workstation is unlikely to
  37. be effective.

  39. If any of the above files are missing or you experience any
  40. problems installing or using MST then you must install the VB4
  41. runtime libraries.

  43. The VB4 runtime files needed for this program can be found on 
  44. Simtel.Net at the following URL:

  49.   that page.  The present listing is:

  54. Most other sources of shareware software, including bulletin boards
  55. and Internet FTP sites, will also provide a package containing the 
  56. required files. The package should be approximately 1500Kb in size and 
  57. will often be found in a general utlitily area. Look for files 
  58. containing VB4, VB16, RUN and/or VB400 in their name (e.g. VB40016.ZIP, 
  59. VB4RUN16.ZIP), or search for "VB4", "16", and "RUNTIME".

  64. 2. System Requirements.
  65.  
  66. MST is a NetWare 3.x management program so you will need
  67. supervisor access to at least one NetWare 3.x file server. Your
  68. target workstation will need to have Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98,
  69. or Windows NT 3.51/4 and a client for NetWare installed. Novell
  70. NETX, VLM, CLIENT32 and IntraNetWare clients are supported. If you
  71. have a Windows 95/98 or NT workstation you can use Microsoft's
  72. client but you may obtain better results if you install a Novell
  73. supplied client.

  75. 3. Running Setup
  76.  
  77. You must run SETUP.EXE from within windows to install MST onto the
  78. target workstation. If you are running Windows 95 or NT 4 then
  79. select the RUN option from the START menu, otherwise select the
  80. RUN option from the FILE menu in File Manager.

  82. SETUP.EXE will ask you to select the directory into which you want
  83. to install MST into. It will then automatically install the
  84. components onto your machine and create a program group icon or
  85. start menu item. If you are installing from floppy disk you will
  86. be prompted to insert the second disk when necessary.

  88. 4. First Time Execution
  89.  
  90. The first time you execute MST you will need to specify a
  91. registration server for MST to use to co-ordinate access. If MST
  92. has never been installed on your network before you may select any
  93. NetWare 3.x server but ideally it should be a server you are that
  94. you are permanently connected to.

  96. If MST has been previously installed on another workstation on
  97. your network you should use the same server as was specified for
  98. that workstation.

  100. Before you execute MST for the first time you should ensure that
  101. you are logged into at least one NetWare 3.x server as the
  102. SUPERVISOR or a SUPERVISOR equivalent. Ideally this should be your
  103. Primary server or a server you are permanently attached to.

  105. When you first execute MST you will be asked to read and agree to
  106. the software license agreement and disclaimer. Unless you make
  107. such an agreement you may not use MST.
