  5. The list of IBM LAN Distance supported modem types has been
  6. updated.  This update includes all modem PIF files developed
  7. or modified since the initial release of the LAN Distance
  8. product.

  10. The following modems are included in the MODEMS.EXE self-extracting
  11. file with this refresh.  An asterisk indicates it has been added
  12. since the LAN Distance 1.0 product shipped.

  121. To install the new modems, copy the modems.exe file into your
  122. \WAL subdirectory.  Then enter MODEMS.
  123.  
  124. WARNING: Save any PIF files that you have personally developed
  125. or altered before installing this MODEMS.EXE refresh.  Failure
  126. to do so may result in your favorite PIF file being overlaid
  127. during the unpacking process.

  129. Please let us know through the forums which modems you would like
  130. for us to consider supporting for the LAN Distance products.

  132. Periodically, the IBM LAN Distance Development team will add
  133. modems types to this list, and place the corresponding PIF files
  134. on this forum.
  135.  
  136. In an effort to distribute the widest variety of modem types, the
  137. LAN Distance Development team will also include new modem types
  138. developed and verified by our customers.  These modem types will
  139. be labeled above.  While we have confidence they will work with
  140. LAN Distance, these modem types have not been officially certified
  141. in the LAN Distance modem lab.

  143. Your feedback to our LAN Distance team is essential.  Please
  144. report any modem problems you encounter through the Forums.
  145. Typical modem errors for LAN Distance include (WCL0221, WCL0336,
  146. and spontaneous disconnections).  We are also interested in your
  147. modem successes.  We encourage you to try any modem type with any
  148. modem, or develop a new modem type for your modem hardware.  Let
  149. us know how your new modem type works, we would like to include
  150. them in the LAN Distance product!

  154. EXE file (download in binary, place in \WAL subdirectory, type
  155. the command MODEMS at the OS/2 command prompt, and use Settings
  156. to Assign the new modem to a port):
